Invitation from the Chairman of the Executive Committee,
Dear Colleagues and Friends, We shall be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Castle Peak Hospital, the mental hospital with the longest history in Hong Kong, in 2011. To commemorate this golden jubilee, I am delighted to announce that the Institute of Mental Health, Castle Peak Hospital and the Hong Kong College of Psychiatrists will be jointly organising the Second IMH Conference in September 2011. Officially opened in 1961, Castle Peak Hospital is committed to providing broad-ranged, high quality and patient-centred psychiatric treatment with rehabilitation services to the community. In addition to the core service of the Hospital, the establishment of the Institute of Mental Health in 2002 was a major step forward to implement primary prevention strategies as an integral part of comprehensive mental health care. Its contribution, throughout the years, to the advancement and dissemination of knowledge in the science and practice of psychiatry via training, education, and research has been tremendous. The theme of the conference is “From Science to Practice – Striving for Excellence in Mental Health Care”. As the title suggests, the Conference will provide a platform for the sharing of the latest findings in scientific studies and professional expertise covering both scientific and practical aspects of mental health care. We are very honoured to have assembled a distinguished faculty from Hong Kong and overseas to share recent advances in their respective fields, spanning from aetiology to management of mental disorders. We are confident that participants will benefit from a rewarding and inspirational experience. On behalf of the Institute of Mental Health, I take great pleasure in inviting you to partake in this event. Your active participation as an audience or in the free paper sessions will ensure the success of the conference. I look forward to seeing you all in September 2011.
