THEY WILL NOT PROCESS YOU CORRECTLY, GUARANTEED. Your EIN SHOULD start with a 45-XXXXXXX (It used to start with 27-XXXXXX) If you attempt going thru THE IRS, you will get a EIN starting with 80-XXXXXXXX (DO NOT GET THIS) I believe from my research it is a “HOLD EIN until further use” code. One woman emailed me this response and if you’re on a Vista Computer, take NOTE: "We used our OS Vista and PROBLEMS. Could NOT save the page at all. Help. How do we get an online copy of the EIN 45-xxxxxx.” We were unable to hit continue and know that it was finalized. Do we need to restart the process?” MY RESPONSE: DO NOT restart the process! If you cannot print out your EIN, you will need to go to the IRS website and get their phone number and call them. Tell them the EIN # and they will send it in 2-3 weeks. NEVER SEND YOUR EIN # BY EMAIL...ISP PROVIDERS ARE NOT SECURE. Write THE EIN # DOWN WHEN YOU SEE IT ON YOUR SCREEN. YOU WILL NEED THIS FOR THE BANK! If you do not have a working printer, then be absolutely sure that you SAVE IT...using “SAVE AS”...feature. If you do not know how, get some assistance. THIS IS TOO IMPORTANT. GO TO: www.irs.gov STEP 1: On the horizontal menu bar across the top, click on Businesses STEP 2: On the left side of the next page, look under “Businesses Topics” and click on “Employer ID Numbers”

  • STEP 6: You are now on the EIN Assistant page. At this point, the application begins and will time out IF you do not finished in 15 minutes. If it times out, you will need to start your application over again. To begin, click >>

    STEP 7: Select as your legal structure by clicking inside the round dial.

    Then click >>

    STEP 8: Select as the type of trust you are getting by clicking inside the round dial at right column, third option. Then click >>

    STEP 9: This page tells you that YOU WILL BE filing a 1041 annually for the Irrevocable Trust. Click Continue to confirm >>

    Step 3: In the middle of the next page, click on the 3rd link: How to Apply for an EIN

    STEP 4: On the next page, in the 2nd paragraph,click on Internet EIN under Apply Online

    STEP 5: On the next page, scrolldown and click on "APPLY ONLINE NOW"

  • STEP 10: Select as the Responsible Party of the Irrevocable Trust. Then click >>

    STEP 11: Enter YOUR information as the Responsible Party as follows:

    STEP 12: Select as the Trustee of the Irrevocable Trust.

    Then click >>

    STEP 13: Enter YOUR information as the Trustee as follows:

  • STEP 14: This section is for the mailing address for your Irrevocable Trust. You must enter a complete address. P.O. boxes and international addresses are allowed. The only special characters allowed for street and city are and /. Do not use symbols like # for apts. or periods to shorten Avenue or Road (spell it out). Do not use spaces or dashes or a 1 in front of phone numbers. ONLY put numbers in.

    STEP 15: Verify your mailing address. Choose the option as indicated below. DO NOT

    accept the database version. Instead, choose Accept As Entered.

  • STEP 16: Entering details about your Irrevocable Trust. LOCK YOUR CAPS and type in the name of your trust like PASSION FOR PURPOSE TRUST. Write the word TRUSTout in full. All the words will fit even if it seems like the first word disappeared behind the box...do not worry, it is there. When it prints out, you will only see a TR after the name of your trust on the summary page. That is ok...no problem. It is the website that does that...you did nothing wrong.

    Then click >>

    STEP 17: Select to indicate that you will have NO employees. Then click >>

    STEP 18: Select to IMMEDIATELY receive your EIN

    Confirmation Letter. Youll be able to view, print, and save the letter immediately.

    Then click >>

    STEP 19: This is the Summary Page. You DO NOT need to print it out. Look it over for mistakes. You will see some letters after your name. That is an IRS code. Don't worry about that. Scroll to the bottom and hit >>

    STEP 20: Congratulations! Your EIN has been successfully assigned.

    Then scroll down and click >> STEP 21: PRINT OUT your EIN Confirmation Letter ....If you cannot print it, then SAVE IT to your

    computer in your documents and label it, EIN CONFIRMATION FOR TRUST to print out later. If you did print it out, still save it so you will have it in two locations.

    Your EIN # begins with 45-XXXXXX. WRITE IT DOWN on a piece of paper before clicking on anything else.
