Regional BlendsRegional blends are common and have long been a tradition in European wine making,

which has formed part of their wine culture for many years. Until recently New Zealand

has tended to concentrate and specialise on single varietal wines. However we are now

realising that many of the world’s most interesting wines are in fact regional blends.

Recognising this we believe the time is right for us to introduce Sherwood Estates Waipara Valley Regional blend ……Integro.

Integro represents the Waipara Valley and the four most common white varieties grown in the

valley. The resulting wine is a unique taste of the Waipara Valley and the area’s terroir which

includes - valley floor, hill slopes and river terraces.

The soil types comprise of - gravelly deposits on the flats and terraces in the central and west side of

the valley, limestone derived clays on hill sides and valley floor to the eastern side and gravelly loams

over alluvial subsoil in the southern part of the region.

The tale of Integro was initiated when Petter Evans joined Sherwood Estate over 10 years ago.

Dayne and Petter began their discussions about the idea of a Waipara blended wine to showcase the

region. The concept evolved and developed over a number of years until the time was right and Integro

was created. Integro symbolizes the intertwining of the finest grape varieties in the Waipara Valley and

reflects our integrity and passion for creating premium wine.

The parcels of fruit are sourced from our four

vineyards in the heart of the Waipara Valley

region. Each vineyard has its own unique soils,

climate and idiosyncrasies giving Integro the best of

both worlds.

Our Glasnevin vineyard is a twenty three acre block

situated off State highway one. The soils consist of

gravelly sand which then changes to silt, gravel, stone

and sand.

The Georges Road vineyard is located on the south west

side of Waipara where these soils are very different to

the rest of Waipara. The fruit coming off this block

tends to be very aromatic and perfumed.

The Stirling vineyard is a thirty acre block situated in

central Waipara and is planted on two terraces.

The Terrace vineyard is planted on a gently sloping

north east facing slope on the west side of the Waipara

valley. The soil is rich with silt and clay.
