Subject to availability, this opportunity is open to eligible students who successfully complete all courses and previous placements in the program.

Malaysia and Sint Maarten placements will run for a 5-week block (with the occasional one-day holiday). Start dates to be determined (likely third week of March).

There is a 2-week Easter holiday in the UK that falls in the middle of placements. Schools will "break" for Easter holiday. For UK placements: please plan to spend 7-8 weeks in the UK, starting mid-March.

Estimated Costs: Notes• a student travel bursary is provided to each

successful applicant by the Faculty of Education and Lakehead International (minimum $750)

• once the stipend is received, individuals completing an international placement are responsible for all costs associated with travel/ transportation, accommodation, food and tourism

• an additional stipend may be provided from Lakehead International

Cost projections vary considerably. E.g.,

• if you have health insurance coverage under LUSU, or are covered by a parent’s plan, you will not need to purchase health insurance before traveling

• food, shopping, accommodation and tourism budgets can vary greatly, depending on personal tastes and choices

• the projected maximum costs for each placement are outlined on the following slides

Application Process:Deadline November 15

Interviews will be held in late November/early December. References and FAs will be contacted; marks and placement assessments will be reviewed.

Notification by early January 2020. Placements subject to minimum two students per site; maximum numbers vary by location.

Many incredible travel and tourism opportunities can be added on to the international placements, either following the placement or during the Easter break (as applicable). Individuals or groups can plan their own travel and tourism, assisted by the International Initiatives Coordinator.
