INTERNET SAFETY RULES

TECHNOLOGY

• Technology has become an important part of today’s classroom as well as the world.

• Students need to be able to use and understand this technology.

• Technology is great, but can also be dangerous if not used properly.

COMPUTER CONTRACTS

• Since every student will have access to their own personal MacBook Pro and desktop computers at school both students and their parents must sign a computer contract.

MACBOOK PRO RULES

THE RULES

Computer access may be taken away at anytime if the following rules are broken…

1. The computers must be respected and taken care of at all times.

2. When at school the internet is for school related work, and at no time should social media be used inside the classroom. This includes, but is not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, etc…

3. No chat rooms or discussion boards unless they have been set up by your teacher.• Only school related topics will be discussed in these boards• No crude language inside such boards.

RULES CONTINUED

4. Random computer checks will happen where a faculty member will look through recently view pages and make sure student is not looking at things he or she should not be looking at.• If anything is found, whether it happened at home or at school, computer

access will be lost immediately.• No pictures or sites you would not want your parent or teacher to see.

5. All computers will be monitored by teachers via Safety software, and parents can request reports be sent to their e-mail as well.

6. Participating in illegal activities will not be tolerated this includes, but is not limited to gaining unauthorized access to any site I am not allowed to be on, overriding or disabling firewalls and spyware, spreading viruses, etc…

DESKTOP COMPUTERS

MORE RULES

• The above rules are include for the school desktops, but the following rules have been added.

1. Downloading applications on school computer is not allowed unless your teacher has given you permission.

2. No eating or drinking around the desktops.

3. Do not save any personal files on the computers, always use a flash drive.

EXPECTATIONS

• I want my students to have access to the computers and internet all year long because the technology we have is an excellent learning tool when used properly, and I will be using it in daily lessons, and if for any reason the student loses computer access he or she will be required to make up the assignment outside of school.

• I am looking for to a fun year full of technology!

GENERAL INTERNET SAFETY RULES

• Never share personal information with the public.

• Never go meet someone you met online.

• Do not open messages from people you do not know.

• Never click on sites that you do not know, they could contain viruses.

• Have secure passwords that include both letters and number and no personal names.

• Tell parents or teacher if you are being bullied or have ever felt uncomfortable when online.
