What is it? What do we look at?
Refresher Where does Psychology come from?
Social Psych (ONE definition) Interested in the power of culture, structure, interactions, and social groups
in who we are, what we do, and what we believe
Sociological Social Psych The systematic study of nature and causes of human behavior
Three Parts Systematic (scientific approach that is rigorous) Nature and Causes- meaning why things happen Humans, not animals
What we as psychologists study Affect – what you feel
You get angry because someone gives you less than what you think you deserve
Behavior – what you do You may never talk to that person again from above
Cognition- what you think The other person that gave you less is guilty of fraud in your opinion
Let’s Listen to a Song It may make you feel inspired or frustrated, while it might make you cry or
you may think you need to act differently
Quadrant Of Action Body, Mind, Social, and Cultural
Anything you do is based on these four things
