Introduce yourself

What are these adults saying?

What’s your name?My name is Kartini, but often I’m called Tini.

Have you ever noticed how we often shorten names? An example is Edward becomes Ted or Therese becomes Tess. Sometimes we even substitute names, an example would be James being called Jim.

What does your name shorten to? What about other people in your class?

I introduce myself by saying“Nama saya Kartini, tetapi panggil saya Tini.” This means “Hi my name is Kartini, but you can call me Tini.”

Nama saya Ali Isan, tetapi panggil sayaPak Isan.

Nama saya Rini Santoso, tetapi panggil sayaBu San.
