    I am humbled to greet you as the 2011-2012 President of the Officeof Student Affairs of the mighty National Association of Black SocialWorkers, Inc. It is my privilege to serve you in this academic year asyour national student representative for NABSW. It was a pleasureto serve you as the Parliamentarian for the 2010-2011administration. I know the importance of advocating for you, thestudents of NABSW. I fully accept the charge to serve as the voiceof the students on the National Executive Committee.

    I am sure that we know how imperative it is for the existence of anorganization such as NABSW. Because of this, one of my primary

    goals for this administration is to empower you, the students ofNABSW, to step forward and take leadership roles. As the future ofthis mighty organization, it is important that we prepare now, in orderto be effective leaders later. This is why the 2011-2012administration has chosen the theme Taking Hold of Our OwnDestiny. By utilizing the knowledge and wisdom available to uswithin our elders and those who have come before us, I have nodoubt that we can and will become great leaders.

    Please join me on this journey and assist me in helping YOU toSHINE! As a part of this process we will be making time and spaceduring the 2012 national conference in Atlanta, for students todisplay poster presentations of their work within their schools,

    communities, and student ABSW chapters. We hope each chapterwill be represented as we give you the opportunity to show off theexcellent work that the NABSW students are doing!

    During my tenure, I will be hosting quarterly conference calls for allstudent chapter presidents. Please mark your calendars to attend asI share national updates that may be pertinent to your studentchapters and listen to your thoughts and concerns as we discusschallenges and successes in your student chapters.
