On July 10, 2000 a trash avalanche ona slope of towering mountain ofgarbage buried 205 people alive.That tragedy was instrumental in theenactment of the Ecological SolidWaste Management Act of 2000, andwas signed into law on January 26,2001.

WASTE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM THAT WILL

INSTITUTIONALIZE EXISTING ENVIRONMENTAL

LAWS SUCH AS RA 9003 OR THE ECOLOGICAL

SOLID WASTE OF 2000.
