Our Vision: Performing music for enjoyment, friendship,

creative self-expression and musical success.

Welcome to your chosen music activity.

Whether you are a beginner, or an expert musician, we have music groups - vocal and contemporary - to suit a wide range of interests and abilities. Students involved in music have improved self-discipline and concentration, a good memory, dexterity and co-ordination as well as listening, thinking and creative skills. They display positive attitudes, perceptions and self-awareness.

As students develop their skills they can progress from an entry level group into a developmental group, and eventually to a high performance group. Entry to high performance is by audition (Grade 5 + equivalent).

Entry Level Ensembles The starting point for beginners and those with elementary skill levels

Developmental Ensembles

Students progress to these ensembles by audition or on the recommendation of their teacher/ ensemble director.

High Performance Ensembles In general, students in the High Performance programme are expected to

have a minimum of Grade 5 or equivalent.

Entry to the High Performance Programme is by audition. If you are successful with your audition you will receive a contract for the year.

There is a $30 per student per group which is used for visiting experts to come and run workshops. In addition, voice students are expected to have at least one year of experience in a PNGHS vocal group or choir.

High Performance Programme students are expected to be learning their

instrument privately in order to advance their skills within the High Performance ensemble.
