INTRODUCTIONThe Bible is filled with types, patterns, and shadows. Starting with Adam and Eve, we can go through much of the Bible and show how God has used types, patterns, and shadows to both hide and reveal spiritual truths. When I say both hide and reveal, it means they are hidden from those who are not willing to obey God and keep His commandments, and they are revealed to those that will do His will. Jesus shared with His disciples that He spoke in parables so that others seeing would not see, and hearing would not hear.

However, He also said to His disciples, “To you it is given to know the mysteries of the Kingdom” (Luke 8:10). There are many mysteries. No one knows them all. With that in mind, I humbly share for the serious disciples of our LORD, some of the few things He has revealed to me over the years.

CHAPTER 1: ADAM AND EVEIn Genesis 2:8 we see that: “God formed man out of the dust of the ground and He breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and he became a living soul”. In verse 19, we see this man being referred to as Adam. In verse 20-23 we read: “And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man” (Genesis 2:20-23).

Now, in 1 Corinthians 15, we see that Jesus is referred to as the Last Adam. Read 1 Corinthians 15:45-47. “And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven” (1 Corinthians 15:45-47). Now as we look closely, we see that the first Adam presented is a type or picture of the second in some ways.

The first Adam was put to sleep and God took a rib from his side and made the woman. Death is also called a sleep. We see this in John 11:11-14. “Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead” (John 11:14). Now when Jesus was asleep (dead on the cross) a soldier pierced Him in His side and out flowed blood and water. “But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water” (John 19:34). The blood represents the “life”. In Leviticus 17:11, we read: “the life of the flesh is in the blood”.

The water represents the Holy Spirit. In John 7:38-39 we read: “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)” The Church of Christ came forth by the life of Jesus and the power of the Holy Ghost.

Therefore the Church of Jesus Christ which is to be His bride came forth from His side even as Eve came forth from the first Adam’s side. We can see then that what God did with the first Adam was something foreshadowing what He would do with the last Adam.

CHAPTER 2: SKINS VS FIG LEAVESAfter Adam and Eve had sinned, the Scripture said they knew they were naked. “And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons” (Genesis 3:7). Later in verse 21, it says: “Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them” (Genesis 3:21).

Page 4: INTRODUCTION - deeperword.comdeeperword.com/uploads/3/4/4/1/34413857/types_patterns_and_… · Web viewchapter 12: moses- 9 - chapter 13: the numbers- 10 - chapter 14: tabernacle

In this we see two important elements, first, aprons generally only cover the front while leaving the back exposed. Secondly, fig leaves have no blood. On the other hand, God clothed them with coats of skins. A coat will cover your frontal naked parts as well as your rear nakedness. Secondly, to get a coat of skin, an animal must shed his blood and die. The Scripture says without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin. “And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission” (Hebrews 9:22).

This, of course, is a foreshadowing of Jesus Christ who had come and shed His blood and died for us that we might have our sins remitted and that we might be clothed. “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked. For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life” (2 Corinthians 5:1-4).

Therefore, even in the early chapters of Genesis, God is giving signs of the coming of Jesus Christ and His atoning work.

CHAPTER 3: CAIN AND ABEL“And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:” (Genesis 4:1-4).

If we are not careful, it would be easy to accuse God of being unfair. If each brother brought what he had, why would God favor Abel’s offering over Cain’s? The answer of course is because you can’t get blood out of a turnip as the old saying goes. Cain was a tiller of the ground. He brought fruit and/or vegetables. Abel was a keeper of sheep. When Abel slew a sheep, he was keeping the pattern. Jesus Christ would come and shed His blood and die for us. What should Cain have done? He should have traded some of his fruit of the ground for one of Abel’s sheep and brought an offering that could be killed. Instead of doing that, he brings an unacceptable offering with no blood and then is angry when the LORD accepts Abel’s offering.

The hint that he could have done the right thing and probably knew from his parents (Adam and Eve) what that was is in verses 5-7. “But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him” (Genesis 4:5-7).

This implies that Cain knew, or should have known what was the better thing to do.

CHAPTER 4: NOAH AND THE ARK“And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD” (Genesis 6:7-8). So God told Noah to build an ark to save his family and representatives of the animals. “And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits” (Genesis 6:15).

Page 5: INTRODUCTION - deeperword.comdeeperword.com/uploads/3/4/4/1/34413857/types_patterns_and_… · Web viewchapter 12: moses- 9 - chapter 13: the numbers- 10 - chapter 14: tabernacle

These three dimensions need to remain in cubits for us to get the spiritual meaning. Unfortunately, some translations, not realizing the actual numbers have significance, have changed them into feet and inches or into meters to give an idea of its size. However, when that is done, it loses the spiritual understanding of the original numbers. Thirty is associated with thirty pieces of silver for which Judas sold out Jesus at the time of the Passover. Fifty is associated with Pentecost which was fifty days after Passover.

Three hundred is associated with Benjamin who was given three hundred pieces of silver and with Gideon’s army which was narrowed down to three hundred soldiers. It is also associated with the alabaster box of ointment that could have been sold for three hundred pence. The woman broke the box and anointed Jesus with it.

Thus, we can surmise that 30 is related to Passover which is related to our salvation experience. It was at Passover that the lamb was slain and his blood put on the door posts and the two side posts. Jesus was also slain at the time of Passover. He is the true Lamb of God. By our belief and confession of Him, our sins are forgiven and we are born again. This is our Passover experience which is represented by thirty.

Fifty represents our Pentecostal experience. Pentecost was fifty days after Passover. It was on the Day of Pentecost that the disciples were filled with the Holy Ghost. After we are saved, we need to also receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The dimension of thirty is good, but we also need the dimension of fifty. We need the power that Jesus said would come upon us after we received the Holy Spirit.

Then we need to press toward the three hundred. Three hundred represents our overcoming experience. It is becoming a part of God’s Elect. These are they which will qualify for the first resurrection. They are Benjamin which means the son of my right hand. They are the anointed of God that then give their praise and honor and glory to Jesus. They are ones who qualify to be a part of the Army of God!

In verse 16 we read: “A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it” (Genesis 6:16). Notice that there are three levels just as there are three levels of heaven. Paul was caught up to the third heaven (See 2 Corinthians 12:2). So if there is a third heaven, there must be a first and second heaven as well.

The Tabernacle of Moses also had three sections, and in the book of Hebrews we read that this was a type, pattern, or figure of the true tabernacle that the Lord pitched and not man in the heavens. “And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. It was therefore necessary that the PATTERNS of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the FIGURES of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us” (Hebrews 9:22-24). Also, see Hebrews 8:1-2: “Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; 2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.”

CHAPTER 5: ABRAHAM SARAH AND HAGARAbraham was married to Sarah but they had no children. Sarah convinces him to marry her handmaiden to have a baby by her so that he would have an heir. Unfortunately, the carnal nature manifested itself, and Hagar began to despise Sarah. Years later, Sarah has the promised son Isaac. The allegory involved with this one is clearly spelled out in Scripture in Galatians4:22-31: “For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the

4

freewoman was by promise. Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband. Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now. Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman. So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free” (Galatians 4:22-31).

CHAPTER 6: ABRAHAM AND ISAACThere came a point where Abraham was told by God to take his promised son Isaac up on a mountain and offer him as a sacrifice. We read this in Genesis 22:1-14. “And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him. Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off. And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you. And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together. And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together. And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood. And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen” (Genesis 22:1-14).

This is obviously a type, pattern, and shadow that God the Father would send His Son Jesus Christ to be a sacrifice for us. Abraham, who in faith, was ready to actually kill and burn his promised son Isaac, whom he loved, proved his greater love and fear of God.

If we read in Hebrews, we see that Abraham believed that God would raise him from the dead. “By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called: ACCOUNTING THAT GOD WAS ABLE TO RAISE HIM UP, EVEN FROM THE DEAD; FROM WHENCE ALSO HE RECEIVED HIM IN A FIGURE” (Hebrews 11:17-19).

This is hinted even in Genesis 22:5. “And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; AND I AND THE LAD WILL GO yonder and worship, AND COME again TO YOU” (Genesis 22:5).

CHAPTER 7: ISAAC AND REBEKAHThere are elements of the marriage of Rebekah to Isaac that are reflective of the marriage of the Bride of Christ to Jesus Christ. Abraham’s servant is sent to find the bride. Apostles, who are servants of God, are sent to preach the Gospel and help train up those that are to be the Bride of Christ. He brings with him precious things from Abraham, Isaac’s father, that are used in the “purchase” of the bride. The Father, God, sent to the world a precious gift in the form of Jesus Christ and the “life” within Him, (His precious blood), to purchase His wife.

In 1Corinthians 6, it says, “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and YE ARE NOT YOUR OWN? For YE ARE BOUGHT WITH A PRICE: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). The servant prays for a sign. The sign will be that the woman will offer to draw water for the camels. Rebekah shows the love that Jesus Christ said would identify us. “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another” (John 13:35). “And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these” (Mark 12:31). The potential wife, Rebekah, is asked whether she is willing to go and become the bride of Isaac, the son. She is willing. We are asked if we are willing to truly follow Christ. Unless we are willing, we cannot become the Bride.

The servant returns with Rebekah. She covers herself with a veil before meeting Isaac. The woman is to be covered according to Paul the Apostle (1Corinthians 11:2-10). This covering is an outward sign of the inward reality of submission to her husband. The believing woman in the natural is to be a type, a pattern, and a shadow of the Bride of Christ. The Bride (composed of men and women) must be under the authority of Christ. Therefore, she is covered by him with a linen garment which is the righteousness of saints.

Isaac takes her into Sarah’s tent which is now his. She becomes his wife. This is just as the Bridegroom, who represents Christ in Matthew 25 takes the five wise virgins in, and the door is shut. This indicates they are the ones with the extra oil (oil represents anointing) that qualifies them to be the Bride. Without the submission, we will not have the anointing.

CHAPTER 8: THE FIRST AND THE LAST“So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen” (Matthew 20:16). The principle of the first being last and the last being first plays itself out over and over again in the Old and New Testament. Adam and Eve had two sons initially. The first was Cain. The second was Abel. Cain’s offering was rejected. Abel’s offering was accepted. The first son’s offering was considered last in terms of least. The last son’s (second son) offering was accepted which is first in importance. (Adam and Eve had other sons and daughters later).

Abraham had two sons. The first one born was Ishmael. The last one born was Isaac. The first was least in terms of blessing. The last one was favored and more highly blessed. Thus, Isaac, the last son became first in importance. The wife of Abraham, who gave birth first was least. She was a handmaiden, and she Hagar, was eventually chased away. The wife who had a baby last, Sarah, was considered first in importance.

Isaac then had two sons. The first was Esau. The last was Jacob. The first ended up with the lesser blessing, and the last ended up with the greater blessing.

Jacob had two wives. The first was Leah, and the second was Rachel. Rachel was the favored of Jacob. Therefore, the first was least in his eyes, and the last was first in importance to him. He loved all his sons, but he loved the sons of Rachel more than the sons of Leah.

6

Page 8: INTRODUCTION - deeperword.comdeeperword.com/uploads/3/4/4/1/34413857/types_patterns_and_… · Web viewchapter 12: moses- 9 - chapter 13: the numbers- 10 - chapter 14: tabernacle

Judah had two sons by Tamar his daughter-in-law. They were twins that struggled in the womb. One put forth his hand first. They put the ribbon on his finger indicating he was the first and therefore to be favored. However, the other actually came forth and was born first. The one with the red ribbon was born last. Red of course represents the blood. The blood represents the life. The life of Jesus gives the greater blessing.

Joseph had two sons (Manasses and Ephraim). Joseph directed Manasses the older son to his father Israel’s right hand to receive the greater blessing and Ephraim towards his left hand to receive the lesser blessing. However, Israel, (formerly known as Jacob) crossed his hands and gave the younger child the greater blessing.

A Levite named Amran had two sons Aaron and Moses. Aaron was the older; Moses was the younger. Moses became the greater leader and the one closest to God.

When Israel began to have kings, the first potential line of succession belonged to Saul, who was a Benjamite. The second and last line belonged to David who was from the tribe of Judah. The first lost his kingdom, and he became least. The last, David, became the greater and therefore first in importance.

There are two covenants. The first is the Old Covenant, and the last is the New Covenant. The Scripture in Hebrews says that the new covenant is based upon better promises. Therefore the last covenant is first in value.

CHAPTER 9: NAME SHADOWSOften times we can see shadows, types, patterns, and revelations in the names. Hebrew names and Greek names usually have meanings which point us towards spiritual realities. Abram, which was Abraham’s name before God changed it means high Father. It was changed to Abraham which means father of many nations. Abraham was used as a type of “Father God” who was to send his son to be slain when he was told to kill Isaac and offer him as a sacrifice. He then of course became the father of many nations, even as God the Father is the Father of all nations in one sense.

Isaac means laughter. It was given as a result of his mother laughing at the saying that she would bear children in her old age. The name Isaac then is a mocking reminder that nothing is too hard for God.

Jacob means trickster, deceiver, or supplanter. This indeed is indicative of the nature of Jacob in his early years. He tricked his brother out of his birthright. He deceived his father by telling him that he was the older son so he could get the greater blessing. Then he supplanted his father-in-law Laban and found a way that the stronger she being born would be his. However, after Jacob wrestled with the angel through the night, his name was changed to Israel. Israel means a prince with God or one who has power with God.

He became a great prince and was even to bless the Pharaoh, the King of Egypt. Remember that Hebrews 7:7 says, “that without contradiction, the less is blessed of the better.” This puts him in the position of being greater than the Pharaoh of Egypt.

Jacob, or Israel, had twelve sons. They are in order of birth Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph, and Benjamin. The order of birth is important because later when Moses is being instructed on how to place the jewels in the breastplate of the high priest, he is told to place them in an order which represents each particular tribe in order according to the birth of the sons. This points out that when they are listed according to the order of their birth, they mean something. It also hints that when they are listed in a different order, a different revelation is there.

Page 9: INTRODUCTION - deeperword.comdeeperword.com/uploads/3/4/4/1/34413857/types_patterns_and_… · Web viewchapter 12: moses- 9 - chapter 13: the numbers- 10 - chapter 14: tabernacle

Order of birth and definitions:

1. Reuben – Behold a son2. Simeon – hearing3. Levi – Joining4. Judah – Praise5. Dan – Judge(ment) (rule)6. Naphtali – Wrestling7. Gad – Troop8. Asher – Happiness9 Issachar – He will bring a reward10. Zebulun – A dwelling place11. Joseph – May God add12. Benjamin – The son of my right hand.

Now if you read them in order it says: Behold a son hearing, joining praise (and) rulership, a wrestling troop. Happiness; he will bring a reward: a dwelling place. May God add the son of my right hand.

There could be no clearer message pointing to Jesus Christ and His army than this! Of course this is not all. Other names also have meanings.

CHAPTER 10: OTHER NAMESMany other names have meanings and are used to convey or reveal truths to us. Joseph’s first son was named Manasseh. This means cause to forget. The second son was named Ephraim which means double fruit. Dinah, the only daughter of Jacob who is named in the Bible, means justice. Moses means drawn from the water. In Ephesians 5:26 we read: “That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,” (Ephesians 5:26).

The word for “word” here is rhema which means God breathed, or spoken word. The other word used for “word” is logos, often referred to as the written word. Jesus is the Word, written or spoken. “In the beginning was the Word [Logos], and the Word [Logos] was with God, and the Word [Logos] was God” (John 1:1).

If Moses is drawn from the water, and the water represents the Word, it means he is drawn from God. Moses in one sense is a “type” of Jesus Christ inasmuch as he is a shepherd that leads God’s people.

Joshua in the Hebrew is Yahshuah. This is the same name given to Mary’s first son who we call Jesus. It means Jehovah saves. We see that it is Joshua that leads the children of Israel across Jordan and in the battle against Jericho. It is Jesus Christ (Yahshuah) that will return with His army and take control of the world.

Caleb means to attack like a dog. This at first seems odd since Joshua and Caleb were the only two who left Egypt after the age of twenty who were allowed to enter the promise land. Of course if it is Jesus (Yashuah) who is the Shepherd, then it is the shepherd dog who gathers the sheep and heads towards the shepherd.

David means beloved. According to the flesh Jesus came from the line of David. When Jesus was baptized, the voice came from heaven saying this IS MY BELOVED son in whom I am well pleased.

Mary means bitter. It was a bitter thing for her to see Jesus die on the cross.

CHAPTER 11: JOSEPHJoseph was the first son of Jacob’s favorite wife Rachel. He was favored by his father with a coat of many colors. This reminds us of the rainbow of many colors which God set in the clouds as a sign of the covenant He made with Noah. When Joseph begins to share dreams of his future exaltation, his brothers hate him. He is then throne into a pit. Hell is described as a bottomless pit. “And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season” (Revelation 20:3).

Jesus went down to hell. “For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance. Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses” (Acts 2:25-32).

Joseph is sold to the Egyptians and ends up in Potipher’s house where he is falsely accused of sin. The Scripture says of Jesus, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

He was then placed in prison. Jesus preached to the spirits in prison. “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison” (1 Peter 3:18-19).

Later Joseph was exalted to a position that was second only to Pharaoh, and he ruled over Egypt. Jesus is exalted and given a name above every name. “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11). Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father. “The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool” (Psalms 110:1).

Truly, we can see that Joseph is a figure, a type, and a shadow of the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

CHAPTER 12: MOSESWhen Moses was a baby, there was a command from Pharaoh to kill all Israelite male newborns. When Jesus was a young child, there went forth a command from King Herod to kill all the male children under a certain age in Bethlehem. There came a time when Moses fled into the wilderness. Joseph took Jesus and fled into Egypt.

Moses was sent to set the Children of Israel free from Pharaoh. Jesus was sent to set the captives free as He said Himself as He quoted from the Prophet Isaiah, “And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,” (Luke 4:17-18).

Page 11: INTRODUCTION - deeperword.comdeeperword.com/uploads/3/4/4/1/34413857/types_patterns_and_… · Web viewchapter 12: moses- 9 - chapter 13: the numbers- 10 - chapter 14: tabernacle

Then who are the captives? Those captured by Satan. Pharaoh is a type, pattern, and shadow of Satan (who enslaves people). The last plague in Egypt was when all the firstborn male children in Egypt were to die. However, in the Israelite households, a lamb was to die and shed his blood instead so the male Israelite children could live. Jesus is the Lamb of God. “These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing. The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me. And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water. And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.” (John 1:28-32).

He died and shed His blood so we can have life. Moses was a shepherd of God’s people in the wilderness. Jesus is our shepherd (See Psalms 23 and John 10:11). Moses brought down from the mountain the Ten Commandments. Jesus gave us two great commandments on which all the law and the prophets hang (Matthew 22:36-40, Mark 12:28-31).

Moses gave the people water first by speaking to the rock. Then later, he struck the rock twice. According to 1Corinthians 10:1-4, the Rock represents Jesus. Moses suffered a great punishment for striking the rock twice. He was not allowed to enter the Promised Land. Why? It is because it broke the type, pattern, and shadow. Jesus would only be struck down once. Moses had to be punished to show that was not the correct pattern. Moses said that God would raise up a prophet like unto himself. This was a prophecy concerning Jesus Christ the Messiah.

CHAPTER 13: THE NUMBERSCertain numbers have special meanings or a special emphasis. Understanding some of the primary ones will help us understand other types, patterns, and shadows.

ONE – One represents the one true God. “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God [is] one LORD:” (Deuteronomy 6:4).

TWO – Two is the number for witness. “This [is] the third [time] I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established” (2 Corinthians 13:1). “One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established” (Deuteronomy 19:15). “And I will give [power] unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth” (Revelation 11:3).

THREE – Three represents the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” (Matthew 28:19). “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and [I pray God] your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thessalonians 5:23). The three parts of man, spirit soul and body, and the three parts of the tabernacle (Holy of Holies, Holy Place, and Outer Court).

FOUR – Four represents the four gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). It can also represent the four faces in the vision of Ezekiel (the face of a man, the face of an eagle, the face of a lion, and the face of an ox). These some of us believe are further representations of the four parts of man’s soul – (mind, emotions, desires, and will.)

FIVE – Five is the number of grace. Grace by definition is a free gift. And HE GAVE some I. apostles II. Prophets, III. Evangelists, IV. Pastors, V. Teachers. Thus five also represents the five major ministries listed in Ephesians 4:11.

SIX – Represents man, for man was created on the sixth day.

SEVEN – Seven represents rest and perfection. God rested on the Seventh Day. The seventh piece of furniture in the tabernacle is the mercy seat, where the LORD who is perfect dwelt.

EIGHT – Eight represents covenant and new beginnings. There were eight souls in Noah’s ark who were used to start a new beginning of the world. God made a covenant with Noah and gave the rainbow as a sign of it. Abraham was told to circumcise the male children on the eighth day after their birth. Circumcision was the sign of covenant with God.

NINE – Nine represents the nine fruit of the spirit listed in Galatians 5:22-23. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law” (Galatians 5:22-23). It also represents the nine gifts of the Spirit listed in 1 Corinthians 12. “For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another [divers] kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:” (1 Corinthians 12:8-10).

TEN – Ten represents government. Moses divided the people so that there was one captain over every ten men, then a captain of fifty over fifty (a multiplication 5 * 10.) Then there was the captain over 100, which is a multiplication of 10 * 10. Then there was a captain over 1,000 which is a multiplication of 10 * 10 * 10.

TWELVE – Twelve represents the twelve sons of Israel and the twelve disciples of Jesus. There were also twelve cakes of shewbread in the tabernacle, and twelve jewels in the breastplate of the high priest. We might say then that twelve is the number of fulness or completion.

TWENTY – Twenty represents maturity. It was at twenty years old that the men of Israel could go out to war.

FORTY – Forty represents tribulation or the wilderness experience. Moses fled into the wilderness for forty years. He fasted forty days and forty nights. Elijah fasted forty days and forty nights. Jesus also fasted forty days and forty nights. The children of Israel were in the wilderness for forty years before they could enter the Promised Land.

FIFTY – Fifty represents Pentecost. Pentecost was fifty days after Passover. “And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete: Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD” (Leviticus 23:15-16).

CHAPTER 14: TABERNACLE OF MOSES

First, let’s look at some of the numbers in the tabernacle. ONE – There’s only one tabernacle, representing the one true God. TWO – There were two rows of cakes of showbread which represent the two witnesses (The Word and the Spirit). THREE – There were three different metals used, gold, silver, and bronze which represent The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. FOUR – There were four sides to the tabernacle. There were four sides to the brazen alter. There were four sides to the incense alter. Each alter had four horns that represent the four aspects of the soul with which God must deal with us. FIVE – There was a post every five cubits in the structure of the outer court. Five represents grace. It is by grace through faith that we come to God. See Ephesians 2:8-9. Five also represents the five-fold ministry (apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers).

SIX – There were two rows of SIX cakes of showbread. Six is the number of man. Man was created on the sixth day. SEVEN – There were seven bowls and seven lights in the candlestick. There were seven main pieces of furniture in the tabernacle. Seven represents rest and perfection. EIGHT – There were eight boards counting the two corner boards on the west end of the Holy of Holies. Eight represents new beginnings and the covenant. TEN – The boards that made up the sides of the tabernacle were ten cubits high. This speaks to the point that we need God’s government to reach perfection. TWENTY – There were twenty boards on the north side and twenty boards on the south side of the tabernacle. Twenty is the number for maturity. In Israel, men could go out to war at the age of twenty. This together with the height of each board says we need God’s government to bring us to maturity.

FORTY – Each of the twenty boards had two prongs that fit into two silver sockets. The forty prongs and the forty sockets represent the wilderness experience we must have to reach perfection. Paul and Barnabas taught

we must through much tribulation enter the Kingdom of God. See Acts 14:21-22: “And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and [to] Iconium, and Antioch, Confirming the souls of the disciples, [and] exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God” (Acts 14:21-22).

CHAPTER 15: THE TABERNACLE CONTINUED“And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering. And this [is] the offering which ye shall take of them; gold, and silver, and brass, And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats’ [hair], And rams’ skins dyed red, and badgers’ skins, and shittim wood, Oil for the light, spices for anointing oil, and for sweet incense,” (Exodus 25:1-6).

The three metals of gold, silver, and bronze represent the triune God (Father Son, and Holy Spirit). In addition, the gold represents the glory of God. In the Holy of Holies, the mercyseat was pure gold. This is where the glory would manifest itself on the Day of Atonement to the high priest. The silver represents Jesus Christ who was sold for thirty pieces of silver. By process of elimination, the brass represents the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Godhead. Blue represents that which is heavenly. Purple represents royalty. Scarlet is red and represents the blood of Jesus. Fine linen represents righteousness. Goats’ hair, ram’s skins dyed red, and badgers skins, once again represent the Father, the Son who shed His red blood, and the Holy Spirit respectively. Wood represents mankind.

The message in those two verses is then, “heavenly royalty (sheds) blood for righteousness. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit covers man.” Oil represents the Holy Spirit. The light represents the glory and power of God. Spices for anointing represent the sweet savor of true worship, and incense represents prayer. “Onyx stones, and stones to be set in the ephod, and in the breastplate” (Exodus 25:7). The onyx stones represent the Word and the Spirit for there were two of them, and these are the two witnesses. The stones in the breastplate represent the twelve sons of Israel according to the order of their birth which then are prophetic of the coming of Jesus Christ and His overcoming army.

How do we know such things? It is because Scripture in various places point to the truths of which these things represent.

BLUE – The children of Israel were told to wear a ribbon of blue on their garment so that even as they look down, they would remember God in the heavens. The natural heavens are blue. The natural heavens remind us of the spiritual heavens. “And thou shalt make a plate [of] pure gold, and grave upon it, [like] the engravings of a signet, HOLINESS TO THE LORD. And thou shalt put it on a blue lace, that it may be upon the mitre; upon the forefront of the mitre it shall be” (Exodus 28:36-37).

PURPLE – When they mocked Jesus as royalty, they put a purple robe on Him. “And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put [it] on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,” (John 19:2). “And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him” (Mark 15:20).

SCARLET – The color of scarlet is red. Red reminds us of the blood that Jesus Shed. “For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins” (Matthew 26:28).

FINE LINEN – This means righteousness. “And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.” (Revelation 19:8).

13

Page 15: INTRODUCTION - deeperword.comdeeperword.com/uploads/3/4/4/1/34413857/types_patterns_and_… · Web viewchapter 12: moses- 9 - chapter 13: the numbers- 10 - chapter 14: tabernacle

GOATS‘ HAIR – A goat was one of the animals used as a sacrifice as God made a covenant between Himself and Abraham. “And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon” (Genesis 15:9).

RAM’S SKIN DYED RED – A ram is a male sheep. It represents Jesus, who is the Lamb of God. And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him” (John 1:28-32). “For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins” (Matthew 26:28).

BADGER’S SKIN – Since we know that the ram represents Jesus, and since there are three things listed, we can surmise, that they represent the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The third thing listed would represent the Holy Spirit. In addition we know that a badger is an animal that likes to swim in flowing water such as streams and rivers. In John 7, we read: “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet [given]; because that Jesus was not yet glorified)” (John 7:38-39).

WOOD - IN the tabernacle we have three metals which represents God’s divinity. By comparison now, we have wood which is much more perishable. Therefore, it must represent mankind. We also know the ark of the Covenant was made of wood but was covered inside and out with gold. This represents Jesus Christ, both His divinity (the gold) and His humanity )the wood).

Oil – Oil represents the Holy Spirit because “Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah” (1 Samuel 16:13).

THE LIGHT – The light represents the power and the glory of God. “[There is] one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for [one] star differeth from [another] star in glory. So also [is] the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:” (1 Corinthians 15:41-42). “And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him” (Matthew 17:1-3).

SPICES – Paul said that their gift was a sweet smelling savor to the LORD. See Phillipians 4:18: “But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things [which were sent] from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing to God.”

INCENSE – In Revelation 5:8 and Revelation *8:3, we see that smoke and incense represent the prayers of the Saints. “And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four [and] twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints” (Revelation 5:8). “And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer [it] with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne” (Revelation 8:3).

CHAPTER 16: THE ARK“And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them. According to all that I shew thee, [after] the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make [it]. And they shall make an ark [of] shittim wood: two cubits and a half [shall be] the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof. And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, within and without shalt thou overlay it, and shalt make upon it a crown of gold round about. And thou shalt cast four rings of gold for it, and put [them] in the four corners thereof; and two rings [shall be] in the one side of it, and two rings in the other side of it. And thou shalt make staves [of] shittim wood, and overlay them with gold. And thou shalt put the staves into the rings by the sides of the ark, that the ark may be borne with them. The staves shall be in the rings of the ark: they shall not be taken from it” (Exodus 25:8-15).

The ark represents Jesus ‘Christ. The gold in the ark represents the glory of God. We know this because the mercyseat which is pure gold is where God’s glory was manifested. The wood represents humanity. Jesus was human, and yet, He is God. We know the ark in one sense represents Jesus Christ because His name is the name of the LORD of Hosts. “And David arose, and went with all the people that [were] with him from Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, whose name is called by the name of the LORD of hosts that dwelleth [between] the cherubims” (2 Samuel 6:2). Jesus is Lord of Hosts.

The two staves represents the two witnesses. The two witnesses are The Word and The Spirit. Jesus is the Word of God. See John 1:1 and John 1:14. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” (John 1:1,14). Jesus was also given the Spirit without measure. “For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him” (John 3:34).

In Jesus, we see the humanity of man but covered inside and outside with the glory of God. This gold covered box contained three things: The tablet of stones on which God’s commands were written. Secondly Aaron’s rod that budded. And thirdly, the golden pot of manna. The table of stone is the Word of God. Jesus is The Word of God.

Aaron’s rod was proof that he was to be the high priest. See Numbers 17:-1-8. “And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod according to the house of [their] fathers, of all their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve rods: write thou every man’s name upon his rod. And thou shalt write Aaron’s name upon the rod of Levi: for one rod [shall be] for the head of the house of their fathers. And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before the testimony, where I will meet with you. And it shall come to pass, [that] the man’s rod, whom I shall choose, shall blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you. And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and every one of their princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one, according to their fathers’ houses, [even] twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron [was] among their rods. And Moses laid up the rods before the LORD in the tabernacle of witness. And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds” (Numbers 17:1-8).

Jesus is our high priest. “But this [man], because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such an high priest became us, [who is] holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up

15

Page 17: INTRODUCTION - deeperword.comdeeperword.com/uploads/3/4/4/1/34413857/types_patterns_and_… · Web viewchapter 12: moses- 9 - chapter 13: the numbers- 10 - chapter 14: tabernacle

sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, [maketh] the Son, who is consecrated for evermore” (Hebrews 7:24-28)

The manna is what fed them on their journey in the wilderness. Jesus said, I am the true manna from heaven. “I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world” (John 6:51).

CHAPTER 17: THE MERCY SEAT“And thou shalt make a mercy seat [of] pure gold: two cubits and a half [shall be] the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof. And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, [of] beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat. And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: [even] of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof. And the cherubims shall stretch forth [their] wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces [shall look] one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be. And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee. And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all [things] which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel” (Exodus 25:17-22).

The mercy seat essentially formed a top for the Ark of the Covenant. Yet, it is also the “seat” of God. If it is a seat for Christ, then it represents His throne, for indeed He sits on a throne being King of Kings and Lord of Lords. In Revelation 3:21 Jesus said, “To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.” Yet, it is also called the mercy seat. the high priest would go into the Holy of Holies once a year with the blood of the lamb and receive mercy (forgiveness) for the sins of the children of Israel.

Notice that the mercy seat is made of pure gold. There is no flesh here only the glory of God. This in the purist sense represents the Kingdom of God. Flesh and blood cannot enter the Kingdom. “Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption” (1 Corinthians 15:50).

There are two cherubims on the mercy seat. Perhaps they represent the Word and the Spirit. Perhaps, they represent Michael and Gabriel. Whatever the case, the mercy seat is the place for the high priest to come to communion with God. The LORD of the whole earth dwells between the cherubims. “And David arose, and went with all the people that [were] with him from Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, whose name is called by the name of the LORD of hosts that dwelleth between the cherubims” (2 Samuel 6:2).

We shall see later that figuratively, we all need to make the journey into the Holiest of All where the ark and the mercy seat are placed. There is in one sense a way which we can come there through thanksgiving, praise, and worship and commune with God. There’s another sense in which our entire spiritual walk as disciples of Jesus Christ must bring us there.

CHAPTER 18: TABLE OF SHEW BREAD“Thou shalt also make a table [of] shittim wood: two cubits [shall be] the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof. And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, and make thereto a crown of gold round about. And thou shalt make unto it a border of an hand breadth round about, and thou shalt make a golden crown to the border thereof round about. And thou shalt make for it four rings of gold, and put

the rings in the four corners that [are] on the four feet thereof. Over against the border shall the rings be for places of the staves to bear the table. And thou shalt make the staves [of] shittim wood, and overlay them with gold, that the table may be borne with them. And thou shalt make the dishes thereof, and spoons thereof, and covers thereof, and bowls thereof, to cover withal: [of] pure gold shalt thou make them. And thou shalt set upon the table shewbread before me alway” (Exodus 25:23-30).

If we were to take the dimensions: Length - two cubits. Width – one cubit. Height – one and one half cubits (four legs * one and a half cubits = six cubits). The leg length is a total of six cubits.

Now we read the numbers. It says “The Word and the Spirit (of) one true God (feed) man.” Jesus said “I am the Bread of life” (John 6:35). He also said “I am the living bread” (John 6:51).” The table is wood covered with gold. Once again it shows the humanity of Jesus (wood) covered with glory (gold).

There were two rows of six cakes of bread on the table of shew bread. Again let us read the numbers: Two – two witnesses, Word and Spirit. Six – man. Twelve – (total number of cakes) and (fullness or completion).

The Word and The Spirit (brings) mankind to fullness or completion. In addition to the table, there were four other types of instruments or dishes mentioned. They are dishes, spoons, covers, and bowls. Together with the table, that makes five items mentioned. Five is the number of grace. It is by God’s grace that He gave us the Word and the Spirit to bring man to completion. Now, if we add in the two staves that were used to carry the table, that would make seven. It is by God’s grace that God gives us the Word and The Spirit to bring man to completion and perfection (five, one, two, six, twelve, seven).

CHAPTER 19: THE CANDLESTICK“And thou shalt make a candlestick [of] pure gold: [of] beaten work shall the candlestick be made: his shaft, and his branches, his bowls, his knops, and his flowers, shall be of the same. And six branches shall come out of the sides of it; three branches of the candlestick out of the one side, and three branches of the candlestick out of the other side: Three bowls made like unto almonds, [with] a knop and a flower in one branch; and three bowls made like almonds in the other branch, [with] a knop and a flower: so in the six branches that come out of the candlestick. And in the candlestick [shall be] four bowls made like unto almonds, [with] their knops and their flowers. And [there shall be] a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, according to the six branches that proceed out of the candlestick. Their knops and their branches shall be of the same: all it [shall be] one beaten work [of] pure gold. And thou shalt make the seven lamps thereof: and they shall light the lamps thereof, that they may give light over against it. And the tongs thereof, and the snuffdishes thereof, [shall be of] pure gold. [Of] a talent of pure gold shall he make it, with all these vessels. And look that thou make them after their pattern, which was shewed thee in the mount” (Exodus 25:31-40)

The middle stem of the candlestick represents Jesus Christ. It is the main vine. Jesus said, “I am the vine, you are the branches. “I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing” (John 15:5).

The six branches represent man. The knops represent the seed. The flower represents a second level of growth, and the almond shaped bowl represents the fruit that comes with maturity. It is only as the branches are connected to the vine that they can bear much fruit. See John 15:1-8. “I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every [branch] that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye,

except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast [them] into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples” (John 15:1-8).

The lamp stand is made of pure gold which represents the glory of God. In addition, there was the oil placed in the bowl. Oil represents the Holy Spirit. “Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah” (1 Samuel 16:13).

The wick was a twisted piece of cloth that was dipped in the oil. This would represent the baptism of the Holy Spirit since we are immersed in the Spirit. Also notice that when the baptism of the Holy Spirit came on the Day of Pentecost, there were tongues like of fire that sat upon each of them (just as there were tongues of fire on the seven bowls of the candlestick. “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance” (Acts 2:1-4).

Seven is the number of perfection. Jesus is perfect. See Hebrews 2:10: “For it became him, for whom [are] all things, and by whom [are] all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings”

He dwelleth between the cherubims which is the seventh piece of furniture of the tabernacle as we travel from the outer court to the Holy of Holies. God through Jesus Christ, The Vine, will bring the overcomers to perfection. Jesus said in Revelation 3:21, “To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.”

Hebrews says that this pattern of the tabernacle is a pattern of the true tabernacle in the heavens. So we learn from this natural tabernacle what the heavenly tabernacle is like. “And look that thou make [them] after their pattern, which was shewed thee in the mount” (Exodus 25:40). “Now of the things which we have spoken [this is] the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man. For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore [it is] of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer. For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law: Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, [that] thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount” (Hebrews 8:1-5).

CHAPTER 20: THE CURTAINS“Moreover thou shalt make the tabernacle [with] ten curtains [of] fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet: [with] cherubims of cunning work shalt thou make them. The length of one curtain [shall be] eight and twenty cubits, and the breadth of one curtain four cubits: and every one of the curtains shall have one measure. The five curtains shall be coupled together one to another; and [other] five curtains [shall be] coupled one to another. And thou shalt make loops of blue upon the edge of the one curtain from the selvedge in the coupling; and likewise shalt thou make in the uttermost edge of [another] curtain, in the coupling of the second. Fifty

loops shalt thou make in the one curtain, and fifty loops shalt thou make in the edge of the curtain that [is] in the coupling of the second; that the loops may take hold one of another. And thou shalt make fifty taches of gold, and couple the curtains together with the taches: and it shall be one tabernacle. And thou shalt make curtains [of] goats’ [hair] to be a covering upon the tabernacle: eleven curtains shalt thou make. The length of one curtain [shall be] thirty cubits, and the breadth of one curtain four cubits: and the eleven curtains [shall be all] of one measure. And thou shalt couple five curtains by themselves, and six curtains by themselves, and shalt double the sixth curtain in the forefront of the tabernacle. And thou shalt make fifty loops on the edge of the one curtain [that is] outmost in the coupling, and fifty loops in the edge of the curtain which coupleth the second. And thou shalt make fifty taches of brass, and put the taches into the loops, and couple the tent together, that it may be one. And the remnant that remaineth of the curtains of the tent, the half curtain that remaineth, shall hang over the backside of the tabernacle. And a cubit on the one side, and a cubit on the other side of that which remaineth in the length of the curtains of the tent, it shall hang over the sides of the tabernacle on this side and on that side, to cover it. And thou shalt make a covering for the tent [of] rams’ skins dyed red, and a covering above of badgers’ skins” (Exodus 26:1-14).

Ten – Government (There was one captain for every ten men in Israel).Linen – Righteousness (See Revelation 19:8). Blue – HeavenPurple – RoyaltyScarlet – Red – Blood = life (Leviticus 17:11)Eight – Covenant (also new beginning)Twenty – Maturity Four – Soul (Mind, emotions, will, desires)

Now if we read the meaning in sequence it says, “A government (of) righteousness (from) heaven (with) royalty (and) life (is) covenanted (by) mature souls.”

The next verses say “five curtains shall be coupled with five curtains. Five is the number of grace. Grace and grace is what can bring us to this maturity. The next verse speaks of fifty blue loops and fifty blue loops. Blue represents heavenly. Fifty represents Pentecost. The day of Pentecost was fifty days after Passover. Pentecost represents the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

The baptism of the Holy Spirit represents power. Acts 1:8 says ye shall receive power after the Holy Ghost has come upon you. This Holy Spirit (and His power) is the earnest of our inheritance. “In whom ye also [trusted], after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory” (Ephesians 1:13-14). This means it is a deposit with a promise of more to come.

See Exodus 26:6. “And thou shalt make fifty taches of gold, and couple the curtains together with the taches: and it shall be one tabernacle” (Exodus 26:6). The taches of gold speak of glory. It is glorious heavenly power from the Holy Spirit. “And thou shalt make curtains of goats’ hair to be a covering upon the tabernacle: eleven curtains shalt thou make. The length of one curtain [shall be] thirty cubits, and the breadth of one curtain four

19

cubits: and the eleven curtains [shall be all] of one measure” (Exodus 26:7-8). The goats’ hair represents a covering from God. Eleven represents the eleven disciples of Jesus minus the one (Judas who fell away).

Thirty – Passover redemption (Jesus was sold for thirty pieces of silver at the time of Passover). He was then sacrificed for our redemption. Four – Soul of man. This speaks of the redemptive work of Jesus Christ for the soul of man. Read Exodus 26:9: “And thou shalt couple five curtains by themselves, and six curtains by themselves, and shalt double the sixth curtain in the forefront of the tabernacle” (Exodus 26:9).

Five = Grace. Six = Man. Double = 2 = Word and Spirit. Grace is brought to man by the Word and Spirit.

Exodus 26:14 reads: “And thou shalt make a covering for the tent [of] rams’ skins dyed red, and a covering above [of] badgers’ skins.” This speaks to us that as we enter the tent (the Holy Place) we are covered by (protected by) the blood of the Lamb and the Holy Spirit.

CHAPTER 21: THE BOARDS“And thou shalt make boards for the tabernacle of shittim wood standing up. Ten cubits [shall be] the length of a board, and a cubit and a half [shall be] the breadth of one board. Two tenons [shall there be] in one board, set in order one against another: thus shalt thou make for all the boards of the tabernacle. And thou shalt make the boards for the tabernacle, twenty boards on the south side southward. And thou shalt make forty sockets of silver under the twenty boards; two sockets under one board for his two tenons, and two sockets under another board for his two tenons. And for the second side of the tabernacle on the north side [there shall be] twenty boards: And their forty sockets [of] silver; two sockets under one board, and two sockets under another board. And for the sides of the tabernacle westward thou shalt make six boards. And two boards shalt thou make for the corners of the tabernacle in the two sides. And they shall be coupled together beneath, and they shall be coupled together above the head of it unto one ring: thus shall it be for them both; they shall be for the two corners. And they shall be eight boards, and their sockets [of] silver, sixteen sockets; two sockets under one board, and two sockets under another board” (Exodus 26:15-25).

Let’s look at the details of measurement and metals and see what they say.

Ten – GovernmentOne – GodHalf – RedemptionTwo – Word and SpiritTwenty – Maturity Forty – TribulationSilver – RedemptionTwenty – MaturityForty – TribulationTwo – Word and SpiritSix – ManTwo – Word and SpiritEight – CovenantSilver – RedemptionSixteen – God’s government of man (Ten + Six)

Now by taking the sequence of the things mentioned and reading them in order, we learn the following: “The government of God redeems man by the Word and Spirit. Maturity comes (through) tribulations. Redemptive

20

maturity (comes through) tribulations (brought by) Word and Spirit. Man (by) Word and Spirit (has) covenant redemption (by) God’s government) (of) man.

CHAPTER 22: THE BARS“And thou shalt make bars [of] shittim wood; five for the boards of the one side of the tabernacle, And five bars for the boards of the other side of the tabernacle, and five bars for the boards of the side of the tabernacle, for the two sides westward. And the middle bar in the midst of the boards shall reach from end to end. And thou shalt overlay the boards with gold, and make their rings [of] gold [for] places for the bars: and thou shalt overlay the bars with gold. And thou shalt rear up the tabernacle according to the fashion thereof which was shewed thee in the mount” (Exodus 26:26-30).

Five bars represent grace for five is the number of grace. Grace by definition is a free gift. In Ephesians we read: “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;” (4:11). Notice that there are five gift ministries listed here. These are not the only ministries in the body of Christ, but they are the primary gift ministries to the Church. Other ministries or giftings such as those listed in Romans 12 and 1 Corinthians 12, are in preparation for these five ministries or in support of these five ministries.

We see five on the north wall, five bars on the south wall, and five bars on the west wall. Grace, grace, grace. We are held together by God’s grace. We the Church are supported by the five-fold ministries and brought to maturity by the five-fold ministries.

Notice that the middle bar reaches from one end to the other. There are two bars end to end above and two bars end to end below it. I believe the middle bar represents the apostles. His ministry is the most extensive and the most comprehensive in the body of Christ.

Now, we can then speculate as to which of the other ministries each bar represents. On the north and south walls, the bars closest to the incense alter would be the high position, for as we go through the tabernacle, the incense alter is closest to the Holy of Holies.

The first order of ministries is listed in 1Cor 12:28. God set some in the Church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers… So the short bar above the long bar would be second in order and that would be the prophet. The short bar below the long bar also must be anointed to preach as the prophet must be. The one that preaches is the evangelist.

This leaves two more bars that are further away from the Holy of Holies. The upper bar would be the shepherd (pastor). The lower bar would be the teacher (using the order in Ephesians 4:11 as to the positioning of the bars.)

On the west side however, we have a different situation. The long bar still represents the apostle, however, the closeness to the Holy of Holies cannot be the determining factor since they are all equally close.

Now the difference is right side verses left side. The right side, that is the south side, has the higher rank. Therefore, the two bars to the south, upper and lower, represent the prophet and the evangelist. The bars to the north represent the shepherd and teacher respectively.

The fact that the bars are also covered with gold represents the glory, righteousness, life, power, and anointing that needs to be on them.

21

Page 23: INTRODUCTION - deeperword.comdeeperword.com/uploads/3/4/4/1/34413857/types_patterns_and_… · Web viewchapter 12: moses- 9 - chapter 13: the numbers- 10 - chapter 14: tabernacle

CHAPTER 23: THE VAIL“And thou shalt make a vail [of] blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen of cunning work: with cherubims shall it be made: And thou shalt hang it upon four pillars of shittim [wood] overlaid with gold: their hooks [shall be of] gold, upon the four sockets of silver. And thou shalt hang up the vail under the taches, that thou mayest bring in thither within the vail the ark of the testimony: and the vail shall divide unto you between the holy [place] and the most holy. And thou shalt put the mercy seat upon the ark of the testimony in the most holy [place]. And thou shalt set the table without the vail, and the candlestick over against the table on the side of the tabernacle toward the south: and thou shalt put the table on the north side” (Exodus 26:31-35).

Blue, purple, scarlet, and fine twined linen once again speaks of heavenly royalty through the blood which is life and righteousness. We can only qualify to be a part of the kings and priests, as mentioned in Revelation chapters 4 and 5, through the blood and righteousness of Jesus Christ. When we first receive the blood (the life) we receive a gift of righteousness. Paul speaks of this in Philippians 3:9 when he said, “And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:” This is the gift of which he was speaking.

Hebrews 12:11, on the other hand, speaks of the fruit of righteousness. “Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby” (Hebrews 12:11). The peaceable FRUIT of righteousness is in them that are exercised thereby. One must have the gift and the fruit to enter beyond the veil into the Holiest of All.

Notice that there are cherubims woven into the material. This speaks to the point that these that fully qualify to enter the Holiest of All, also known as the Kingdom or royalty of heaven, are the ones that qualify for the first resurrection. Those that qualify for the first resurrection shall be equal to the angels.

The four pillars on which they are hung represent the four aspects of man’s soul. The gold represents the glory of God, and the four sockets of silver represent the four Gospels that speak of Jesus Christ and His redemption.

The veil acts as a divider within the tent structure. It divides the Holy Place from the Holy of Holies. Some in their walk with the Lord will make it into the Holy Place but fail to go beyond the veil into the Holiest of All.

CHAPTER 24: NORTH AND SOUTH“And thou shalt set the table without the vail, and the candlestick over against the table on the side of the tabernacle toward the south: and thou shalt put the table on the north side. And thou shalt make an hanging for the door of the tent, [of] blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen, wrought with needlework. And thou shalt make for the hanging five pillars [of] shittim [wood], and overlay them with gold, [and] their hooks [shall be of] gold: and thou shalt cast five sockets of brass for them” (Exodus 26:35-37).

The mention of the table on the north side and the candlestick opposite it on the south side is important because if one came in from the east and moved toward the west where the Holy of Holies is located, and then went south to the candlestick and then north toward the table of showbread, his footsteps would form a cross on the dirt floor. There is a religion that says that Jesus died on a stake. Here is incontrovertible proof that the cross is what it was. God knew and prepared it and placed it so that the form of the cross is within the tabernacle.

The hanging from the door of the tent is made from blue, purple, scarlet, and fine twined linen. Heavenly royalty (requires) life and righteousness. The five pillars represent God’s grace and the five-fold ministry which

22

Page 24: INTRODUCTION - deeperword.comdeeperword.com/uploads/3/4/4/1/34413857/types_patterns_and_… · Web viewchapter 12: moses- 9 - chapter 13: the numbers- 10 - chapter 14: tabernacle

is to bring His people into the realm of the Holy Place. The gold represents the glory of God the Father, and the brass represents the Holy Spirit. One needs the baptism of the Holy Spirit to enter into this realm.

CHAPTER 25: THE BRASEN ALTAR“And thou shalt make an altar [of] shittim wood, five cubits long, and five cubits broad; the altar shall be foursquare: and the height thereof [shall be] three cubits. And thou shalt make the horns of it upon the four corners thereof: his horns shall be of the same: and thou shalt overlay it with brass. And thou shalt make his pans to receive his ashes, and his shovels, and his basons, and his fleshhooks, and his firepans: all the vessels thereof thou shalt make [of] brass. And thou shalt make for it a grate of network [of] brass; and upon the net shalt thou make four brasen rings in the four corners thereof. And thou shalt put it under the compass of the altar beneath, that the net may be even to the midst of the altar. And thou shalt make staves for the altar, staves [of] shittim wood, and overlay them with brass. And the staves shall be put into the rings, and the staves shall be upon the two sides of the altar, to bear it. Hollow with boards shalt thou make it: as it was shewed thee in the mount, so shall they make [it]. And thou shalt make the court of the tabernacle: for the south side southward [there shall be] hangings for the court [of] fine twined linen of an hundred cubits long for one side:” (Exodus 27:1-9).

The dimensions, five cubits long by five cubits wide speak of grace. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9). The four horns speak of the four Gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. These contain the good news of Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrifice to obtain salvation for us. Four also speaks of the four aspects of the soul that must be involved for true repentance to take place.

One – OUR MIND - Intellectually we understand the need to repent. Two – Our emotions – In true repentance there is Godly sorrow. Three – Our will – It is now turned to want to do God’s will. Four – Our desires – We no longer desire sin.

If only one aspect such as the intellect is involved, then there is a false repentance and there will be no fruit shown which there should be in the changed life.

Brass is the metal representative of the Holy Spirit. It is the Spirit that draws us to Christ. “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day” (John 6:44). The Scripture says, “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his” (Romans 8:9).

The two staves again speak of the two witnesses, The Word and The Spirit. “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by THE WORD of God.” (Romans 10:17).

CHAPTER 26: THE COURT“The length of the court [shall be] an hundred cubits, and the breadth fifty every where, and the height five cubits [of] fine twined linen, and their sockets [of] brass. All the vessels of the tabernacle in all the service thereof, and all the pins thereof, and all the pins of the court, [shall be of] brass” (Exodus 27:18-19).

One hundred cubits by fifty cubits is 5,000. This reminds us of the five thousand men that Jesus taught. He had them sit in rows fifty by one hundred. They were symbolic of outer court people. The height of the court was five cubits. Five again is the number of grace. It is by God’s grace that we can come into the outer court.

23

Page 25: INTRODUCTION - deeperword.comdeeperword.com/uploads/3/4/4/1/34413857/types_patterns_and_… · Web viewchapter 12: moses- 9 - chapter 13: the numbers- 10 - chapter 14: tabernacle

Linen as we have said before represents righteousness as confirmed again by Revelation 19:8. This of course represents the gift of righteousness that is given by Christ as opposed to any righteousness of our own. It is the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8-9) that comes along with salvation. This again is that righteousness spoken of by Paul in Phil 3:9 where he says, “And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:” (Philippians 3:9).

The sockets, vessels, and pins are all of brass. Brass is the third metal used in the tabernacle and is representative of the third person of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit. This is the Holy Spirit that draws us to God. The Scripture says that He that has not the Spirit of Christ is none of His (Romans 8:9). All believers have the Holy Spirit with them in some measure. However, because they have Him in some measure doesn’t mean that they have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit which is a much greater measure.

CHAPTER 27: PURE OLIVE OIL“And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always. In the tabernacle of the congregation without the vail, which [is] before the testimony, Aaron and his sons shall order it from evening to morning before the LORD: [it shall be] a statute for ever unto their generations on the behalf of the children of Israel” (Exodus 27:20-21).

The pure oil we notice comes from the fruit of olives. This then also connects us to the olive tree in places where the olive tree is mentioned such as Zechariah 4:3 and Revelation 11:4. We also know that it is in reference to the Holy Spirit. With the Holy Spirit comes light as seen in Acts 2:1-4. “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance” (Acts 2:1-4)

However, we should also notice that this time the Scripture mentions beaten. Why? What meaning does it have for us? The Scripture says in Ephesians that the Spirit is the earnest of our inheritance. An earnest is a deposit with a promise of more to come. If the Holy Spirit brings us power and light, which it does, then that power and light is merely a deposit with a promise of more power and light to come. How do we get the more or the increase? Here is where the ‘beaten” comes in. It is through trials, tribulations and difficulties that we face as we obey the Lord. Mark 9:49-50 says, “For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt. Salt [is] good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.” We are salted with fire. 1 Peter 4:12 says, “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you.”

So the fire is suffering. We are all sprinkled with fire just as the natural sacrifice was sprinkled with salt. So what does the fire, the sufferings do for us? “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding [and] eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen [are] temporal; but the things which are not seen [are] eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:17-18).

The beaten implies the trials, troubles, sufferings, and afflictions, and these things increase the glory. If the glory is increased, then the light is increased. If the light is increased, then the power is increased. If the power is increased, then the anointing is increased. So the secret of the beaten olive oil is the increase in power God wants from us. The Lord wants our light to always shine and to shine brightly!

“And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office, even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron’s sons. And thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother for glory and for beauty. And thou shalt speak unto all [that are] wise hearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron’s garments to consecrate him, that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office. And these [are] the garments which they shall make; a breastplate, and an ephod, and a robe, and a broidered coat, a mitre, and a girdle: and they shall make holy garments for Aaron thy brother, and his sons, that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office. And they shall take gold, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen.” (Exodus 28:1-5).

Notice that there initially five people in the priest’s office (Aaron and his four sons). Our high priest is Jesus. He ministers to us first and foremost grace. The number five represents grace. In verse 2 look at the particular words GARMENTS FOR GLORY AND BEAUTY. In verse three look at the words AARON’S GARMENTS TO CONSECRATE HIM. To consecrate is to set apart. A garment of glory consecrates and sets apart. Normally the glory functions in a spectrum of light that is invisible to the naked human eye. However, on the Mount of Transfiguration, Peter, James, and John were allowed to see “the glory”.

In verse five we have the colors of the materials used.

Gold – gloryBlue – HeavenlyPurple – Royalty (When Jesus was mocked as a king, they put a purple robe on Him).Scarlet (red) – blood (life) Leviticus 17:11 says the life of the flesh is in the blood.Fine Linen – Righteousness (See Revelation 19:8).

The message that we receive as we read the colors is: “Glorious heavenly royalty is based on life and righteousness”. Another way of saying this is that we can tell a person’s spiritual ranking by the power and anointing in their words and the fruit of the Spirit that we see manifesting in their lives.

CHAPTER 29: THE EPHOD“And they shall make the ephod [of] gold, [of] blue, and [of] purple, [of] scarlet, and fine twined linen, with cunning work. It shall have the two shoulderpieces thereof joined at the two edges thereof; and [so] it shall be joined together. And the curious girdle of the ephod, which is upon it, shall be of the same, according to the work thereof; [even of] gold, [of] blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen. And thou shalt take two onyx stones, and grave on them the names of the children of Israel: Six of their names on one stone, and [the other] six names of the rest on the other stone, according to their birth. With the work of an engraver in stone, [like] the engravings of a signet, shalt thou engrave the two stones with the names of the children of Israel: thou shalt make them to be set in ouches of gold. And thou shalt put the two stones upon the shoulders of the ephod [for] stones of memorial unto the children of Israel: and Aaron shall bear their names before the LORD upon his two shoulders for a memorial” (Exodus 28:6-12).

Since we have already spoken of the meaning of the colors, let us go on to the ephod and shoulderpieces. The two onyx stones represent the Word and the Spirit. Six represents mankind for whom the priest intercedes. The twelve names of the children of Israel once again speak to the messages in their names.

The names also indicate the natures that need to be developed within us to achieve the mark of the prize of the high calling in Christ Jesus. Perhaps we will go more into that when we discuss the breastplate which also has jewels representing the twelve sons of Israel.

CHAPTER 30: THE BREASTPLATE“And thou shalt make the breastplate of judgment with cunning work; after the work of the ephod thou shalt make it; of gold, of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine twined linen, shalt thou make it. Foursquare it shall be being doubled; a span shall be the length thereof, and a span shall be the breadth thereof. And thou shalt set in it settings of stones, even four rows of stones: the first row shall be a sardius, a topaz, and a carbuncle: this shall be the first row. And the second row shall be an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond. And the third row a ligure, an agate, and an amethyst. And the fourth row a beryl, and an onyx, and a jasper: they shall be set in gold in their inclosings. And the stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a signet; every one with his name shall they be according to the twelve tribes” (Ex 28:15-21).

Again the same colors are used which represents glorious heavenly royalty through life and righteousness. A span is the span of a man’s hand and therefore speaks of man. Foursquare speaks of holiness. The Holy of Holies is four-square. The stones are set in rows, but each row represents a particular son of Israel. There were three in a row. Hebrew is written right to left, so we will show the placement of the names in the rows.

CHAPTER 31: TWO RINGS OF GOLD

26

Page 28: INTRODUCTION - deeperword.comdeeperword.com/uploads/3/4/4/1/34413857/types_patterns_and_… · Web viewchapter 12: moses- 9 - chapter 13: the numbers- 10 - chapter 14: tabernacle

“And thou shalt make two rings of gold, and thou shalt put them upon the two ends of the breastplate in the border thereof, which [is] in the side of the ephod inward. And two [other] rings of gold thou shalt make, and shalt put them on the two sides of the ephod underneath, toward the forepart thereof, over against the other coupling thereof, above the curious girdle of the ephod. And they shall bind the breastplate by the rings thereof unto the rings of the ephod with a lace of blue, that [it] may be above the curious girdle of the ephod, and that the breastplate be not loosed from the ephod. And Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the breastplate of judgment upon his heart, when he goeth in unto the holy [place], for a memorial before the LORD continually. And thou shalt put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim; and they shall be upon Aaron’s heart, when he goeth in before the LORD: and Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel upon his heart before the LORD continually.” (Exodus 28:26-30).

Two rings of gold speak of the Word and Spirit in glory. The fact that they are attached to the breastplate shows that it is the Word and Spirit that bring forth glory from our hearts (the core of our being). Two other rings with the first make a total of four. Four speaks of our soul.

The names of the children of Israel are assigned to the twelve jewels; thus, the natures of the twelve must be brought forth in our hearts by the Word and Spirit in order for us to enter the Holiest of All. It pertains to Aaron, the first high priest, bearing this on his heart. Of course he was making atonement for the children of Israel; however, it also shows us the natures we must have as believers to grow up in God.

REUBEN – Behold a son – Keep our eyes on Jesus. “And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth [his] hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God” (Matthew 14:28-33). “And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, [there appeared] a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. And Elisha saw [it], and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces” (2 Kings 2:11-12).

SIMEON – Hearing – “So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).

LEVI – To join. – “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse [your] hands, [ye] sinners; and purify [your] hearts, [ye] double minded” (James 4:8). “Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept [them]. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return” (Malachi 3:7)?

JUDAH – Praise. – “But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel” (Psalms 22:3).

DANIEL – Rule. – “He that [hath] no rule over his own spirit [is like] a city [that is] broken down, [and] without walls” (Proverbs 25:28)

NAPHTALI – Wrestle. – “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12).

GAD - Troop. – “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered

together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:19-20). “And the armies [which were] in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean” (Revelation 19:14)

ASHER – Happy. – “Where [there is] no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy [is] he” (Proverbs 29:18)

ISSACHAR – He will bring a reward. – “He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward” (Matthew 10:41).

ZEBULUN – A dwelling place. – “Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The KINGDOM OF HEAVEN is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and LODGE IN THE BRANCHES THEREOF” (Matthew 13:31-32).

JOSEPH – May God add. – “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever” (Daniel 12:3). “The fruit of the righteous [is] a tree of life; and he that winneth souls [is] wise” (Proverbs 11:30).

BENJAMIN – Son of my right hand. – “To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne” (Revelation 3:21). “The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool” (Psalms 110:1).

CHAPTER 32: THE ROBE“And thou shalt make the robe of the ephod all [of] blue. And there shall be an hole in the top of it, in the midst thereof: it shall have a binding of woven work round about the hole of it, as it were the hole of an habergeon, that it be not rent. And [beneath] upon the hem of it thou shalt make pomegranates of blue, and [of] purple, and [of] scarlet, round about the hem thereof; and bells of gold between them round about: A golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, upon the hem of the robe round about. And it shall be upon Aaron to minister: and his sound shall be heard when he goeth in unto the holy [place] before the LORD, and when he cometh out, that he die not” (Exodus 28:31-35).

Blue once again reminds us of what is heavenly. The pomegranate is a fruit which speaks to the point that we must exhibit fruit in our lives. The fruit of the Spirit is “…love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22-23). The colors of the pomegranate are blue, purple, and scarlet. They therefore say “heavenly royalty through the blood (life).”

The golden bells speak of power. Remember that gold represents glory and glory is associated with power. See 1 Corinthians 15:43-44: “It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.” Since there is a golden bell between each pomegranate, it says “Glory of the heavens, glory of royalty, glory of life.” It speaks of the Holy of Holies or the kingdom of the heavens.

Kingdom means royal dominion and power. We must have power (anointing) and fruit to make it in. We can see that the anointing is power in Isaiah 10:27. “And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing” (Isaiah 10:27).

CHAPTER 33: THE PLATE

28

Page 30: INTRODUCTION - deeperword.comdeeperword.com/uploads/3/4/4/1/34413857/types_patterns_and_… · Web viewchapter 12: moses- 9 - chapter 13: the numbers- 10 - chapter 14: tabernacle

“And thou shalt make a plate of pure gold, and grave upon it, like the engravings of a signet, HOLINESS TO THE LORD. And thou shalt put it on a blue lace, that it may be upon the mitre; upon the forefront of the mitre it shall be. And it shall be upon Aaron’s forehead, that Aaron may bear the iniquity of the holy things, which the children of Israel shall hallow in all their holy gifts; and it shall be always upon his forehead, that they may be accepted before the LORD” (Exodus36-38).

As the high priest Aaron was to wear the sign “holiness to the LORD” on his forehead. Jesus is our high priest. He is Holy, so this first and foremost speaks of Jesus and His holiness. Secondarily, if we are to enter the Holiest of All, we must be holy. It was in the Holy of Holies on the Day of Atonement that the glory of the Lord would manifest and from it the Lord spoke to the high priest.

In Hebrews 12:14, we see that without holiness no man can see God. God of course can and does manifest Himself on different levels. The LORD met with Abraham in the form of a man; and yet, He tells Moses that no man can see His face and live. Moses was hidden in the cleft of the rock and is only allowed to see His back parts after He passed by. This shows that the manifestation of God that Moses wanted to see but didn’t was far more powerful than the manifestation that Abraham did see. No doubt every believer will see a manifestation of Jesus in the outer court of heaven, yet only those that receive the level of holiness described in Hebrews will see God in this more powerful manifestation.

Having the sign on the forehead is indicative that our minds must be sanctified and consecrated to be holy. Isaiah 26:3 says, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”

CHAPTER 34: COATS GIRDLES AND BONNETS“And thou shalt embroider the coat of fine linen, and thou shalt make the mitre of fine linen, and thou shalt make the girdle of needlework. And for Aaron’s sons thou shalt make coats, and thou shalt make for them girdles, and bonnets shalt thou make for them, for glory and for beauty. And thou shalt put them upon Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him; and shalt anoint them, and consecrate them, and sanctify them, that they may minister unto me in the priest’s office. And thou shalt make them linen breeches to cover their nakedness; from the loins even unto the thighs they shall reach: And they shall be upon Aaron, and upon his sons, when they come in unto the tabernacle of the congregation, or when they come near unto the altar to minister in the holy place; that they bear not iniquity, and die: it shall be a statute for ever unto him and his seed after him” (Exodus 28:39-43).

Fine linen equals righteousness. We must be covered with righteousness. Girdles cover the weak area (our reproductive area). Bonnets cover the head. Coats cover the body. Christ covers our weaknesses. Christ is the righteousness that is the authority over us. Christ is the righteousness from which the fruit comes that covers us all over. These coverings represent glory and beauty. Righteousness equals glory equals beauty. These are next associated with anointing, consecration and sanctification. Anointing is to have the power of the Holy Ghost to do. Jesus Christ was given the Holy Ghost without measure. “For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him” (John 3:34).

Sanctification is to be fully sanctified or cleansed. Christ was such; for He was the Lamb without blemish. Consecration is to be set aside for a specific work. Christ was set to redeem mankind and to be our High Priest. We also need to be consecrated, sanctified, and anointed to effectively do the Lord’s work. Notice also that the linen breeches are mentioned to cover nakedness. Once again we need Christ’s righteousness to cover us and to forgive our sins.

CHAPTER 35: TO HALLOW THEM“And this is the thing that thou shalt do unto them to hallow them, to minister unto me in the priest’s office: Take one young bullock, and two rams without blemish,” (Exodus 29:1).

To hallow means to purify or to pronounce as clean, to sanctify, to consecrate, to make holy. The numbers say, “God through the Word and the Spirit will hallow them”. “And unleavened bread, and cakes unleavened tempered with oil, and wafers unleavened anointed with oil: of wheaten flour shalt thou make them. And thou shalt put them into one basket, and bring them in the basket, with the bullock and the two rams” (Exodus 29:2-3).

Unleaven bread speaks of bread without leaven and leaven speaks of sin. Temper with oil means anointed with the Holy Spirit. “And Aaron and his sons thou shalt bring unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and shalt wash them with water. And thou shalt take the garments, and put upon Aaron the coat, and the robe of the ephod, and the ephod, and the breastplate, and gird him with the curious girdle of the ephod: And thou shalt put the mitre upon his head, and put the holy crown upon the mitre. Then shalt thou take the anointing oil, and pour it upon his head, and anoint him” (Exodus 29:4-7).

The natural washing with water is a typology of a spiritual washing that must take place for us to be cleansed and holy. Notice that Aaron the first high priest is first cleansed and then he is anointed.

CHAPTER 36: THE SIN OFFERING“And thou shalt bring his sons, and put coats upon them. And thou shalt gird them with girdles, Aaron and his sons, and put the bonnets on them: and the priest’s office shall be theirs for a perpetual statute: and thou shalt consecrate Aaron and his sons. And thou shalt cause a bullock to be brought before the tabernacle of the congregation: and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands upon the head of the bullock. And thou shalt kill the bullock before the LORD, [by] the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And thou shalt take of the blood of the bullock, and put [it] upon the horns of the altar with thy finger, and pour all the blood beside the bottom of the altar. And thou shalt take all the fat that covereth the inwards, and the caul [that is] above the liver, and the two kidneys, and the fat that [is] upon them, and burn [them] upon the altar. But the flesh of the bullock, and his skin, and his dung, shalt thou burn with fire without the camp: it [is] a sin offering” (Exodus 29:8-14).

Placing the hands on the bullock represents a transference of sins from Aaron and his sons to the bullock which is the sacrificial animal in this sin offering. It is representative of Jesus taking on our sins while He was on the cross. The blood (the life) must touch each of the four horns of the alter. The blood (the life) of Jesus needs to touch each of the four areas of the soul. The flesh, skin, and dung should be burned without the camp. This represents the flesh nature of us, and the unclean part of us cannot enter the Kingdom of God. Those must be “burned” out of us. The trials and tribulations we incur are designed to do just that.

CHAPTER 37: BURNT OFFERING“Thou shalt also take one ram; and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands upon the head of the ram. And thou shalt slay the ram, and thou shalt take his blood, and sprinkle [it] round about upon the altar. And thou shalt cut the ram in pieces, and wash the inwards of him, and his legs, and put [them] unto his pieces, and unto his head. And thou shalt burn the whole ram upon the altar: it [is] a burnt offering unto the LORD: it [is] a sweet savour, an offering made by fire unto the LORD.” (Exodus 29:15-18).

A ram is a male sheep. Once again, we are reminded in the Gospel of John 1:28-32. It indicates that Jesus is the Lamb of God. This represents the sacrifice that Jesus makes for us.

30

Page 32: INTRODUCTION - deeperword.comdeeperword.com/uploads/3/4/4/1/34413857/types_patterns_and_… · Web viewchapter 12: moses- 9 - chapter 13: the numbers- 10 - chapter 14: tabernacle

Fire reminds us of fiery trials which are Christ’s sufferings. “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the FIERY TRIAL which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of CHRIST’S SUFFERINGS; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy [are ye]; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified” (1 Peter 4:12-14).

CHAPTER 38: THE WAVE OFFERINGExodus 29:19-28: “19 And thou shalt take the other ram; and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands upon the head of the ram. 20 Then shalt thou kill the ram, and take of his blood, and put it upon the tip of the right ear of Aaron, and upon the tip of the right ear of his sons, and upon the thumb of their right hand, and upon the great toe of their right foot, and sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about. 21 And thou shalt take of the blood that is upon the altar, and of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it upon Aaron, and upon his garments, and upon his sons, and upon the garments of his sons with him: and he shall be hallowed, and his garments, and his sons, and his sons' garments with him. 22 Also thou shalt take of the ram the fat and the rump, and the fat that covereth the inwards, and the caul above the liver, and the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, and the right shoulder; for it is a ram of consecration: 23 And one loaf of bread, and one cake of oiled bread, and one wafer out of the basket of the unleavened bread that is before the Lord: 24 And thou shalt put all in the hands of Aaron, and in the hands of his sons; and shalt wave them for a wave offering before the Lord. 25 And thou shalt receive them of their hands, and burn them upon the altar for a burnt offering, for a sweet savour before the Lord: it is an offering made by fire unto the Lord. 26 And thou shalt take the breast of the ram of Aaron's consecration, and wave it for a wave offering before the Lord: and it shall be thy part. 27 And thou shalt sanctify the breast of the wave offering, and the shoulder of the heave offering, which is waved, and which is heaved up, of the ram of the consecration, even of that which is for Aaron, and of that which is for his sons: 28 And it shall be Aaron's and his sons' by a statute for ever from the children of Israel: for it is an heave offering: and it shall be an heave offering from the children of Israel of the sacrifice of their peace offerings, even their heave offering unto the Lord.” (Exodus 29:19-28)

Placing blood on the tip of the right ear of Aaron and his sons represents a sanctifying of their hearing ability. Placing blood upon the right thumb typifies a sanctifying of the “works” of their hands. Placing blood upon the great toe of the right foot indicates sanctification of their walk before God. It is the right rather than the left because this is the side that represents Jesus Christ. They are “hallowed” (made holy) sanctified by having the blood and the anointing oil sprinkled upon them. The blood, once again, represents the life of Christ and the anointing oil represents the Holy Spirit.

In verse 22, the fat represents the Holy Spirit. (Fat when heated becomes grease or a type of oil). The two kidnies represent the Word and the Spirit involvement. The right shoulder represents Jesus Christ’s government. In Isaiah we read the government shall be placed on His shoulders. “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of [his] government and peace [there shall be] no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.” (Isaiah 9:6-7).

Verse 23: Bread equals Jesus. See. John 6:35. “And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst” (John 6:35). OIL on the bread equals Jesus anointed by the Spirit. Unleavened bread equals Jesus without sin. See 1 Corinthians 5:6; a little leaven leavens the whole lump. “Your glorying [is] not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?” (1 Corinthians 5:6).

Verses 24-25: Jesus Christ is our anointed sinless offering that goes through the fire of suffering.

Verses 26-28: It is the heart of Jesus Christ to be the offering that He may be the High Priest for us.

CHAPTER 39: SEVEN DAYS OF CONSECRATION“And the holy garments of Aaron shall be his sons’ after him, to be anointed therein, and to be consecrated in them. [And] that son that is priest in his stead shall put them on seven days, when he cometh into the tabernacle of the congregation to minister in the holy place. And thou shalt take the ram of the consecration, and seethe his flesh in the holy place. And Aaron and his sons shall eat the flesh of the ram, and the bread that [is] in the basket, [by] the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And they shall eat those things wherewith the atonement was made, to consecrate [and] to sanctify them: but a stranger shall not eat [thereof], because they [are] holy. And if ought of the flesh of the consecrations, or of the bread, remain unto the morning, then thou shalt burn the remainder with fire: it shall not be eaten, because it [is] holy. And thus shalt thou do unto Aaron, and to his sons, according to all [things] which I have commanded thee: seven days shalt thou consecrate them. And thou shalt offer every day a bullock for a sin offering for atonement: and thou shalt cleanse the altar, when thou hast made an atonement for it, and thou shalt anoint it, to sanctify it. Seven days thou shalt make an atonement for the altar, and sanctify it; and it shall be an altar most holy: whatsoever toucheth the altar shall be holy” (Exodus 29:29-37).

Seven is the number of rest, the number of perfection. Most cooking or burning of sacrifices occurred in the outer court at the brazen altar, but here we see a boiling being done in the Holy Place. Aaron and his sons are to eat the ram and the bread. Since the ram signifies Jesus and the bread signifies Jesus and His Word (Jesus is the Word), it means we must truly feed on Jesus by feeding on His Word. We first receive some word in the outer court, but now there is a greater feeding that takes place as we enter the Holy Place.

In verse 36, we see a bullock is offered every day for seven days. Seven is the number for perfection. Jesus is perfect. This speaks to His ongoing advocacy on our behalf. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

In verse 32, we see anointing and sanctification associated. God truly anoints those He sanctifies. In verse 37, seven days an atonement is made for the altar, and whatsoever touches it shall be holy. This in a way speaks of Jesus who in one sense is our altar. We are reminded of the woman with the issue of blood. When she “touched” Jesus, she was healed.

CHAPTER 40: THE TWO LAMBS“Now this [is that] which thou shalt offer upon the altar; two lambs of the first year day by day continually. The one lamb thou shalt offer in the morning; and the other lamb thou shalt offer at even: And with the one lamb a tenth deal of flour mingled with the fourth part of an hin of beaten oil; and the fourth part of an hin of wine [for] a drink offering. And the other lamb thou shalt offer at even, and shalt do thereto according to the meat offering of the morning, and according to the drink offering thereof, for a sweet savour, an offering made by fire unto the LORD. [This shall be] a continual burnt offering throughout your generations [at] the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD: where I will meet you, to speak there unto thee. And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and [the tabernacle] shall be sanctified by my glory. And I will sanctify the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar: I will sanctify also both Aaron and his sons, to minister to me in the priest’s office. And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will be their God. And they shall know that I [am] the LORD their God, that brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them: I [am] the LORD their God” (Exodus 29:38-46).

They are to offer two lambs day by day. The second person of the Triune God is Jesus Christ. He, Jesus, is the Lamb of God. The two witnesses are the Word and the Spirit, the Old Testament and the New Testament, and for those that can receive it, Moses and Elijah.

Tenth equals government. Flour equals bread. Fourth equals soul. Wine equals blood which equals life. “God’s government (and) bread (for) the soul (brings) life.”

Every morning and every evening a sacrifice is made. If nothing else, this should remind us that every morning and every evening we should be thankful for the sacrifice that Jesus Christ has made for us.

In verse 43, we see the tabernacle is sanctified by glory. In Hebrews we read that almost all things are sanctified by blood. “And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission” (Hebrews 9:22). Let’s make the connection between glory and blood. Glory equals righteousness equals life equals blood. See 2 Timothy 4:7-8, 1 Peter 5:4, James 1:12, and Leviticus 17:11.

CHAPTER 41: THE ALTAR OF INCENSE“And thou shalt make an altar to burn incense upon: [of] shittim wood shalt thou make it. A cubit [shall be] the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof; foursquare shall it be: and two cubits [shall be] the height thereof: the horns thereof [shall be] of the same. And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, the top thereof, and the sides thereof round about, and the horns thereof; and thou shalt make unto it a crown of gold round about. And two golden rings shalt thou make to it under the crown of it, by the two corners thereof, upon the two sides of it shalt thou make [it]; and they shall be for places for the staves to bear it withal. And thou shalt make the staves [of] shittim wood, and overlay them with gold. And thou shalt put it before the vail that [is] by the ark of the testimony, before the mercy seat that [is] over the testimony, where I will meet with thee. And Aaron shall burn thereon sweet incense every morning: when he dresseth the lamps, he shall burn incense upon it. And when Aaron lighteth the lamps at even, he shall burn incense upon it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations. Ye shall offer no strange incense thereon, nor burnt sacrifice, nor meat offering; neither shall ye pour drink offering thereon. And Aaron shall make an atonement upon the horns of it once in a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonements: once in the year shall he make atonement upon it throughout your generations: it [is] most holy unto the LORD” (Exodus 30:1-10).

Incense represents the prayers of the saints. See Revelation 5:8 and 8:3.

One cubit equals one God. Four square equals soul of man. Two cubits equals Word and Spirit. Gold equals glory. Crown equals royalty. Gold equals glory. Two rings equals two witnesses equals Word and Spirit. Two corners equal two witnesses equal Moses and Elijah. Two staves equals two witnesses equals Old Testament and New Testament.

One God in the soul of man by the Word and Spirit brings glorious royalty. The glory of the Word and the Spirit is seen in the two witnesses of Moses and Elijah and in the Old Testament and the New Testament. Said another way, the message is: “To qualify to be a part of the two witness company of Moses and Elijah, we must allow the Word and Spirit to bring us to that glory by allowing the one true God to work in the soul of man.”

Burning incense in the morning and evening once again implies prayer in the morning and evening. The term perpetual incense in verse 8 implies that it is actually prayer without ceasing. “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

CHAPTER 42: ATONEMENT“And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, When thou takest the sum of the children of Israel after their number, then shall they give every man a ransom for his soul unto the LORD, when thou numberest them; that there be no plague among them, when thou numberest them. This they shall give, every one that passeth among them that are numbered, half a shekel after the shekel of the sanctuary: (a shekel is twenty gerahs:) an half shekel shall be the offering of the LORD. Every one that passeth among them that are numbered, from twenty years old and above, shall give an offering unto the LORD. The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when they give an offering unto the LORD, to make an atonement for your souls. And thou shalt take the atonement money of the children of Israel, and shalt appoint it for the service of the tabernacle of the congregation; that it may be a memorial unto the children of Israel before the LORD, to make an atonement for your souls” (Exodus 30:11-16)

One half shekel was the amount for the atonement; so when one half is mentioned in Scripture it may often be referring to this atonement. We notice that in God’s eyes, the rich and the poor are alike. In the world’s eyes, the person is who he is based on his amount of money, the amount of followers, and the amount of education. This is not so with God. The rich man’s soul is worth no more or no less than a poor man’s soul. The atonement money is paid for all those twenty years old and upward.

Does this speak to the fact that children are not responsible? One has to reach a level of maturity before an atonement is required for his soul. In the Old Testament the men had to be circumcised and then now we see that in the wilderness the atonement money had to be paid. In the New Testament, Jesus paid the price for our atonement. Then we are baptized when we are mature enough to understand.

CHAPTER 43: THE LAVER“And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Thou shalt also make a laver of brass, and his foot also of brass, to wash withal: and thou shalt put it between the tabernacle of the congregation and the altar, and thou shalt put water therein. For Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet thereat: When they go into the tabernacle of the congregation, they shall wash with water, that they die not; or when they come near to the altar to minister, to burn offering made by fire unto the LORD: So they shall wash their hands and their feet, that they die not: and it shall be a statute for ever to them, even to him and to his seed throughout their generations” (Exodus 30:17-21).

Washing speaks of a cleansing. This that they did naturally represents what Christ does for us spiritually. The second piece of “furniture” is the laver where there is water. Our second “step” with God is baptism which is being immersed with water. Aaron and his sons washed their hands and feet. The hands speak of our works, and the feet speaks of our walk.

It is interesting that if we look at Exodus 38:8, we see that the laver is made of the lookingglasses (KJV) or mirrors of the women. “And he made the laver of brass, and the foot of it of brass, of the lookingglasses of the women assembling, which assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation” (Exodus 38:8).

Why? The woman is a type of the soul. The mirrors show self. To melt down is to destroy. Selfish desires must be destroyed if we are to go on with God!

CHAPTER 44: HOLY ANOINTING OIL“Moreover the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels, And of cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of oil olive an hin: And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil. And thou shalt anoint the tabernacle of the congregation therewith, and the ark of the testimony, And the table and all his vessels, and the candlestick and his vessels, and the altar of incense, And the altar of burnt offering with all his vessels, and the laver and his foot. And thou shalt sanctify them, that they may be most holy: whatsoever toucheth them shall be holy. And thou shalt anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister unto me in the priest’s office. And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, This shall be an holy anointing oil unto me throughout your generations. Upon man’s flesh shall it not be poured, neither shall ye make any other like it, after the composition of it: it is holy, and it shall be holy unto you. Whosoever compoundeth any like it, or whosoever putteth any of it upon a stranger, shall even be cut off from his people” (Exodus 30:22-33).

Myrrh equals Holy Spirit.

500 = 5 * 100, 5(10 * 10) grace, God’s government.250 = 2*100, + 50, 2(10 * 10) + 50. Word and Spirit government, Baptism of the Holy Spirit.500 = 5 * 100, 5(10 * 10) Grace, God’s government.

Olive Oil equals Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit’s grace and God’s given government of the Old Covenant and New Covenant the baptism of the Holy Spirit, grace and God given Government led of the Spirit. It is the Spirit’s anointing and leading that is needed in every step of our walk with the Lord. There’s a special anointing of those called to do the work of God.

CHAPTER 45: FRANKINCENSE“And the LORD said unto Moses, Take unto thee sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and galbanum; these sweet spices with pure frankincense: of each shall there be a like weight: And thou shalt make it a perfume, a confection after the art of the apothecary, tempered together, pure and holy: And thou shalt beat some of it very small, and put of it before the testimony in the tabernacle of the congregation, where I will meet with thee: it shall be unto you most holy. And as for the perfume which thou shalt make, ye shall not make to yourselves according to the composition thereof: it shall be unto thee holy for the LORD. Whosoever shall make like unto that, to smell thereto, shall even be cut off from his people” (Ex 30:34-38).

This special mixture including frankincense was a special perfume. In Revelation 5:8 and Revelation 8:3, we find that the smoke and incense represents the prayers of the saints. “And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints” (Revelation 5:8). “And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne” (Revelation 8:3).

In other Scriptures we see that not every believer is a saint just as not every Israelite was sanctified to enter the Holiest of All. The smoke in the Holy Place of the tabernacle comes from the fire that is placed on the incense alter. The fire represents the fiery trials that we as believers face to bring us to perfection. “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:” (1Peter 4:12). “Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:” (1 Peter 1:5-7).

CHAPTER 46: THE SON OF HUR“And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah:” (Exodus 31:1-2). Later, we see a time when Israel is not at war. As Moses lifts his rod, the Israelites begin to win the battle. As long as he lifts up the rod with his arms, they are winning the battle. When his arms grow tired, and he lowers the rod, they begin to lose. They set Moses on a rock, and Aaron stands on one side and Hur on the other. They hold up his arms so the Children of Israel can win the battle.

This threesome represents the Godhead of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Aaron who was the spokesman for Moses, would have been on the right side inasmuch as he represents Jesus our High Priest. Hur would have been on the left; Hur represents the Holy Spirit. The son of Hur here in this passage is also being associated with the Holy Spirit.

CHAPTER 47: THE SABBATH“And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you. Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed” (Exodus 31:12-17).

The Sabbath is also a shadow and a type. In Psalms and in Peter it says a thousand years is as a day, and a day is as a thousand years unto the Lord. If we look at the years Scripturally, we find that there are approximately two thousand years from Adam to the time of /Abraham. This is two days. There are approximately two thousand years from the time of Abraham to Jesus. That is two more days for a total of four days.

There will be approximately two thousand years from the death and resurrection of Jesus till the return of our Lord. That will make a total of six thousand years or six days. Then there will be a Sabbath rest when Satan is locked up for one thousand years. The Seventh Day is the Sabbath.

See Revelation 20:1-2. “And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,” (Revelation 20:1-2).

Therefore, even the Seventh Day Sabbath is a type, pattern, and shadow of something to come.
