The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of the Republic of Korea (MAFRA) will host the Third Global Forum for Sustainable Agricultural Development under the theme of “Inclu-sive Growth and Global Partnerships” together with the Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI), Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency (APQA), Korea Rural Community Corporate (KRC), Korea Agency of Education, Promotion and Information Service in Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (EPIS), Korea Institute for Animal Products Quality Evaluation (KAPE) and Ban Kimoon Institute for Sustainable Development.

Based on the experience of Korea’s agricultural and rural development, MAFRA has been promoting a variety of ODA projects to participate in the efforts of the international community to eliminate hunger. In particular, it has been implementing multi-bilateral projects with inter-national organizations that acquired specialties through long history and experiences, and is strengthening cooperative relationships.

As part of the efforts, the Forum invites participants from 12 international organizations includ-ing Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), International Fund for Ag-ricultural Development (IFAD), World Food Programme (UN WFP), African Development Bank (AfDB), World Bank (WB), International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Grow Asia, International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA), Asian Development Bank (ADB), International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Internation-al Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) to provide a venue where all interested participants share their insights and communicate with each other.

I believe this Forum will serve as a place to seek for opportunities for future cooperation be-tween Korean agencies in the field of agriculture and livestock and international organizations, and at the same time, it will be a meaningful venue to identify the flow of inclusive growth which is currently discussed among the international community.

The Forum is open to everyone, and I look forward to your interest and participation in the Forum.

Thank you.

LEE Gae-ho, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has been contributing to the international community through implementation of ODA projects in the field of agriculture and livestock. In particular, it has been facilitating communication between ODA stakeholders and sharing key project outcomes since 2017 through the Global ODA Forum.

The First Forum in 2017 was held under the theme of “The Present and Future of Development Projects and Strategies to Achieve Sustainability”, and this venue of discussion was expanded in the Second Forum co-hosted by IFAD in 2018 under the theme of “Sustainable Agricultural Development in International Setting: Cooperative’s Role and Prospect”.

This year’s Global ODA Forum will prepare a place for 12 international organizations leading the global agriculture and livestock areas and related Korean agencies to gather and share their experience and knowledge under the theme of “Inclusive Growth and Global Partnership

MAFRA of the Republic of Korea is promoting various forms of ODA projects in order to contrib-ute to sustainable agricultural development by transferring Korea’s experience in agricultural and rural development.

The Project provides supports by pro-viding agricultural infrastructure and equipment, management training and capacity building programs for a mid and long-term period of three to five years.

The Korea Agricultural Policy Expe-riences for Food Security program is an agricultural policy consulting pro-gram that provides joint inspection, invitational training and workshops to three partner countries every year to identify new ODA projects

In cooperation with international organi-zations, including FAO, IFAD, ADB and UN WFP, the projects provide supports such as providing agricultural technical guidance and improving distribution system.
