On behalf of the Scandinavian Associati- on for Thoracic Surgery (SATS), The Scan- dinavian Society of ExtraCorporeal Tech-nology (SCANSECT), and the Scandinavian Association of Thoracic Nurses (SATNU) it is with great pleasure that we cordially invite you to attend the 5th Joint Scan- dinavian Conference in Cardiothoracic sur- gery, which will take place in Aarhus, Denmark, from the 22nd to the 24th of August, 2013.

The purpose of the Joint Scandinavian Conference in Cardiothoracic Surgery is to provide a forum in which surgeons, perfusionists, nurses, clinical researchers and scientists working in the field of car-diothoracic surgery, extracorporeal cir- culation technology and nursing of the cardiothoracic patient can meet, share their experiences, exchange ideas and communicate with colleagues in a cordi- al, international atmosphere. Careful ab-stract selection will guarantee scientific

sessions of a high standard with interest-ing presentations of recent research re-sults and new developments in the field of cardiothoracic surgery, nursing, and extracorporeal circulation technology.

The leading companies in the field of car-diovascular surgery and perfusion will be present during the congress with a large, interesting and inspiring exhibition.

The social events will include a galla din-ner in a fantastic venue. Aarhus will welcome you, dressed in the delightful green colours of high summer, inviting you to explore its atmosphere of modern cafés, cosy pedestrian areas and cosmopolitan shopping, enjoy a walk along the harbour or the beach, or a visit to the surrounding woods.

We look forward to seeing you in Aarhus in August 2013.

A beautiful location ...The congress will be held in the Scandinavian Congress Centre, a beautiful, modern building with extensive congress facilities, situ-ated in the centre of Aarhus, within walking distance of the hotels, cafés, shopping areas and museums.

Aarhus is the 2nd biggest city in Denmark, with a population of 315.000, and a thriving business community. Among Aarhus’ many cultural attractions are a top-modern arts museum, a museum of prehistory situated in a manor in the middle of the woods, a Wo-men’s museum, and many others.

The countryside around Aarhus is lovely, with villages and small towns among the rolling hills and on the waterfront. Travelling to Aarhus is easy: Fly via Copenhagen, or directly to Aarhus Airport, Billund Airport or Aalborg Airport. Access by car or train is also easy.
