    1. OBJECTIVETo provide guidelines for implementation of Integrated Pest Control for insects, rodents and other animals.

    2. SCOPEThis applies to all warehouse facilities within SAS INTERSALES AND PROMOTION, INC.

    3. GENERAL

    3.1 Definition of Terms

Integrated Pest Control (IPC) a system of pest control that combines corrective and preventivemeasures aimed to protect consumers, products and workers with the minimal use of the chemical pesticidesand with the involvement of workers.

Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) a technical information sheet that contains: chemical composition, material description, hazards, handling, storage and transport instructions/ restrictions, toxicity thresholds anddisposal, safety precautions, first aid measures, stability and reactivity, regulatory/ labeling information.

Residual Action pesticide traces that remain active after application.

Pesticides / Insecticides / Rodenticides chemical reagent used for the eradication of pests(insects/rodents/other animals).

Fumigation application of toxic agent in gaseous form in an enclosed and dry space. Chemicals havegood diffusion and penetrate deeply into the materials being fumigated.

Spraying airs or directs pressurized application on pest or structures; with residual action.

Thermal Fogging atomization or dispersal of insecticidal mist.

Casual Observation the detection of lives pests in the production areas and is accomplished by allworkers. Any visual observation on evidence of possible presence such as droppings; holes; or burrows;nests; unfamiliar sounds of other pest animals; dead animal bodies must also be recorded.

Feeders / Trap also called bait; carriers, devices used to place the food bait or poison, shouldpreferably be of a dark color. Traps can be mechanical cat traps, nets; light traps; boards with glue etc.

Food Baits any food product that will appear attractive to pests (other animals).

Poison Baits products that contain pesticides and will attract other pest animals.

Rodents pest animals (e.g. mice, rats, squirrel etc.) with strong sharp teeth for gnawing & usuallydisease-carrier.

Other Pest Animal animals that can also create damage / cross-contaminates or harms a productionactivity; materials; products. These animals can be any the following: birds, cats, dogs, spider, termites, snakes, lizards, bats, slugs, snails, etc.

3.7.1.7 Distribution & Location of Insecutors

    a. An adequate number of insecutors must be installed in appropriate locations in a production area toensure good monitoring and control of insect population in a particular site.

    b. Insecutors must be placed in strategic areas where insects prefer to move and stay, usually in cornerswith dead spots or no air current/not much movement. Actual and recommended distribution &

location of insecutors for SAS Intersales & Promotion, Inc. can be seen in Table 3.c. Inspection tag must be place on the lower part of the Insecutor unit with the corresponding initial in a

    weekly basis

    3.7.1.8 Corrective Rodent Control

    Direct killing of rodents by;

Mechanical means (traps/glue boards) Chemical (rodenticides/poison)

3.7.1.9 Distribution of Rat Poison (Racumin Paste) & Mechanical Traps

Rat poison should be applied with caution in outside processing and or building areas according tothe prepared location map for particular site.

Location of rat poison and traps are chosen based on the results of a pre-baiting survey (initial

setting of baits to determine various entries & route movements of rodents, usually donefor one month.

Traps & baiting stations should be rotated monthly to avoid rodent familiarity or trap-shyness.The following criteria should be followed:

    1. Interior of Facility- Traps shall be positioned at a maximum of 20 feet (6 meters) interval around the interior

perimeter of the building area or depend upon the traces/activity of rodent.- Freezers and coolers shall have mechanical traps only located within 6 feet (2 meters) on

    both sides of entry doors.

    2. Exterior of Facility- Baits station shall be positioned at maximum of 50 feet (15 meters) intervals around the

building perimeter, except where there is public access.- Exterior station should be within 20 feet (6meters) of outside Dumpster areas.

All poison feeder and mechanical traps must be identified & numbered of locations andmarked with identified specific rodent traps appropriately displayed for a particular area.

Identify all poison bait applications and fences, walls, doorways, etc, through anadhesive tag in the allowed locations.

Preparations of feeders. Set the poison baits in the interior of the feeders, close orsecure and put a poison warning sign and bait identification number.

Replacement of poison baits. Always replace baits which disappear and which areconsumed for the duration of the monitoring. Perform at least once a monthreplacement. Refer to attachment 3.8.2 table 5 for the distribution of poison baits/rattraps in various warehousing area.

    3.7.2 For Other Animals

3.7.2.1 Birds-effective control of birds presence is to prevent entry and close all possible entrypoints and windows, walls, doors, ceilings, pipelines and air louvers. Frequent removal ofbirds nests; prevent spillage and left over food materials/product; installation and repair ofappropriate screens or plastic curtain are basic preventive action for bids.

3.7.2.2 Cats & Dogs- are manually caught by nets or mechanical traps. The live pests are thenmove out of plant premises and given to any volunteer caretakers.

Note: The following criteria should be followed during catching/entrapment; No possible occurrence of cross-contamination due to animals blood; hair; skin. Properly and boldly identified and numbered traps or baits. Trap/Bait sites marked in particular locations map for the area once monitoring

    survey showed positive presence.

3.7.3.3 Control of Spiders, Lizards, etc.- pesticides spraying and fogging at least once a month candiscourage the entry and control the development of the above other pests. Manualcleaning and removal of eggs of lizards on cracks and crevices, dead bodies of deadanimals must be done regularly as necessary by SJO Pest Control Services (ServiceProvider-Contractor).

3.7.3.4 Control/Treatment for Termites-termites attacks can be preventive by termite proofing.Plant land area and buildings. Termite proofing is a process of applying liquid attacks canbe preventive by termite proofing plant land area and buildings. Termite proofing is aprocess of applying liquid termiticides underneath the surrounding soil underneath flooring ofstructures to provide long- term (1-2) years protection. Pest Contractor must performthorough monthly inspection of all building structures and wooden pallets that are potentialattack sites by termites. Any personnel must immediately report any observation of powderwood or the presence of mud tubes (soil shelter constructed by termite) in any parts of thebuilding.
