Extra-curricular Activities:

1. Organising of 60th Karnatak University Athletic Meet during 2010-11.

2. Participating in University, State and National level athletic meets.

3. Extension activities to be conducted through NSS NCC, YRC, Red Ribbon Club and

Ladies Forum throughout the year.

4. Conducting Health check-up and oraganising blood donation camps .

5. Freshers’ day celebration by B.Com. students and ‘SAMMILAN’ (for freshers’) and

Sayonara (for outgoing students by M.Com., M.B.A. & B.C.A. students).

6. Organising N.S.S. special camp at Toravi Village.

7. Conducting art circle programmes, cultural day, Sports and games at college level for all

courses.

8. Encouraging the N.C.C. cadets to take-up “B” & “C” certificate examination.

9. Observation of World Literacy Day, International Womens’ Day, Hindi Day and No

Vehicle Day.

10. Conducting various competitions and sports for girl students under Ladies Forum.

Outcome at the end of year 2010-11:

The plan of action chalked out by the IQAC in the beginning of year aimed at the

overall development of college. Ample thrust was given to the academic development of

UG & PG courses.

The activities of all the courses for the academic year 2010-11 were executed

successfully. The above plan of action is achieved for higher academic excellence and

the faculty members have made sincere efforts to achieve the goals of the institution.

The extension of autonomous status at B.Com. B.B.A & B.C.A. V & VI semesters and

M.Com & MBA III & IV semesters. All the steps were taken to revise the syllabus by

convening the statutory bodies meetings as per provisions of autonomy

The college re-opened on 1st July, 2010 and Principal gave the opening lecture which

covered the rules and regulations of the college as well as the prohibited activities in the

college.

Gymkhana inaugural function was held on :17-08-2010 and chief guest of the function

Dr. D C Rajappa, Superintendent of Police, Bijapur district addressed the students and

highlighted the importance of extracurricular activities along with their academic

activities.

TQM programme was conducted for B.Com I sem students and the resource person

was Dr. Suresh Jangamshetti from Basaveswar Engineering College Bagalakot and

B.Com V semester students for which the resource person was Dr. Rajkumar, Faculty of

Management Studies, Banaras Hindu University, Varanashi.

A TQM programme was organized for IV and VI sem students. The resource

persons were Shri Chandrashekar Rao and Dr. Abutayar Patel who covered various

aspects like personality devp. Leadership skills, communicartion skills, analytical skills

and facing of interviews etc

On 03/08/2010 NSS wing and Dist Leagal Service Center organized one day work-shop

on “Kanunin Arivu Neravu” where Dist. Judge L Subramnya and lawyers

Dongaragavi and Lahori shared their thoughts.

On 09-09-2010 our students visited Haralayya Blind school and celebrated Raksha

Bandan with Blind children and distributed sweets and donated one Tabla- set to the

school.

Under the auspices of Kannada Sangh Valmiki Jayanti was observed and a lecture was

delivered by Prof. Channappa Katti on Life and Literature.

On the eve of Gandhi Jayanti our students Miss Tejaswini Darbar and Soumya

Kulkarni participated in Inter-collegiate Rangoli competition and won 2nd and 3rd

prizes worth Rs 3500/- organized by S B Arts and KCP SC college Bijapur.

A very useful Yog Shibir was conducted on 20/10/2010 under the direction of Yog

pandit Shri Shant Guruji.

On 24/11/2010 Kanakadas Jayanti was observed with all gaity and ideals of

Kanakadas were explained to students.

Aids Awareness program was jointly oraganised by NSS and Red Ribbon club of the

college where Dr. Angadi from BLDE Medical college addressed on prevention of Aids

on10/09/2010.

From 23/01/2011 to 29/01/2011 NSS special camp was conducted in the village Torvi

where our volunteers cleaned the premises of Laxmi Temple and constructed the

compound wall of KSWU Campus and planted trees along the same. volunteers were

participated in the ‘Jatha of Save Monuments’ organized by the district administration.

The NSS volunteers were participated in “Gram Nairmalikaran” organized by District

court & NGO groups of Bijapur to have a clean and beautiful city.

On 03/02/2011 Group Discussion was organised for ladies under soft skill club and

Kannada Sangh where in girls interacted with 4 eminent people viz Dr, Suresh

Biradar, Mallamma Yalwar, Shri Mallikarjun Yendigeri and Shri S Y Sirasagi on

the issue “Is Morality Declining in India”.

The dept. of Languages organized one day excursion to Kudal Sangam and Almatti

Dam sight on 05/02/2011.

Our English Prof. Smt S M Hurali along with 3 students Mr Amit Jain, Shrikant Kumbar

and Shilpa Patil presented 3 papers on Post colonization and Language Politics

organized by Basaveswar Commerc College Bagalkot

Under Ladies Forum International Womens Day was celebrated on 09/03/2011 where

in a blind talented young artist Miss Kritika Janginamath was honoured.

Under Ladies forum and Cultural Dept. Samskuti Day celebration was held in which

parents were also invited and falicitated

On 16 and 17 of March 2011 20 of B.Com students participated in Management Fest

organized by Vijay Mahantesh College Ilkal wherein Miss Aiswarya Jambure bagged

2nd prize.

Annual prize distribution function was held on :30-04-2011 and chief guest of the

function Dr. Veeranna Hawaldar, Director, CEDOK, Dharwad, addressed the students

and distributed the prizes to the outstanding students in academic, sports and extra-

curricular activities.

Two faculty have passed the entrance exam for Ph.D and 4 members are perusing Ph.D.

6 of our faculty have completed M.Phil.

UGC sponsored coaching classes for entry in to services for S.C/ S.T and

Minorities, continued for this academic year also under the guidance of Prof. B.R

Allalmath.

London (UK).

Bridge Course was conducted for non commerce students.

College Quarterly News Bulletin “Vanijya Vahini” came out with the various activities

of the college during the year 2010-11.

A.S.Patil College of Commerce (Autonomous), Bijapur.

Class tests and mid-term exams were conducted according to the calendar of events.

Home assignments were monitored & checked by the faculty according to Autonomous

norms.

Students of BCA, MBA & M.Com have been assigned with project works under the

guidance of teaching faculty for partial completion of their degrees and verified by the

university nominees.

Our faculty participated in the Autonomous Examination Process by setting the papers

and evaluating the answer scripts at B.Com, BBA, BCA odd & even Semester. Also

participated in KUD’s Question Paper setting work and evaluated answer books of

university exams.

Debating Union has organized debate competition, slogan writing on anti terrorism and

Essay Competition, to create awareness about terrorism.

On 15/08/2010, Blood Donation Camp was conducted by YRC and NSS Units in

association with blood bank of Shri B. M. Patil Medical College, Bijapur. 37 students

donated their blood and 37 students of the college got their blood group checked.

NCC Unit of the college adopted the Blind & Dumb School & helped the students with

clothes and basic needs. They have also participated in Republic day March past, Anti-

Dowry Jatha, Anti-Leprosy Drive, Blood Donation Camp, Tree Plantation and

Anti-Terrorism rally. NCC unit has also conducted Pulse Polio Immunization

programme, Traffic awareness programme, Environmental protection,

Shramadan, Eye Donation Pledge etc.

Placement cell of the college is actively functioning to nurture, educate and place them

in leading industries and companies. 34 students of M.B.A. programme were

appointed in various companies like Karvy, Wrigley, Spandan Spoorti, Heritage foods

India Ltd, Bharati Axa, NIIT, and ING Vysya life insurance. 22 Students of BCA

Programme were appointed in various companies like Wipro (WASE), Infosys, IBM,

TCS.

On the eve of BLDE Associations Centenary Celebration and Golden Jubilee of the

college we hosted 60th KARNATAK UNIVERSITY DHARWAD ATHLETIC

MEET for four days starting from 28 to31 October 2010. In all 1172 athletes from 492

colleges from 7 districts participated in the meet. 3 new records were created. Miss

Swapna Ullegaddi Mr Praveen Shirshad and Veeranna won the prizes. For the

successful event management both Vice-Chancellors of KUD and Rani Chennamma

Universities appreciated the event. The college has scored 11 points in that meet.

College has produced 02 University Blues in All India Inter University Athletic Meet

held in New Delhi. And all India Inter University Volleyball Tournament.

On 22 and 23 April 2011, the computer dept. of the college conducted Intra-Mural

Management Fest (Kurushetra-2011) for B.Com students where in 7 management

games were organized and 8 groups participated.

1) Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the institution:

The Goals & Objectives of the institution are:

1) To facilitate the learners to acquire knowledge of commerce, management,

entrepreneurial skills and computer applications under the innovative curricula.

2) To prepare competent executives and leaders for domestic and global requirements.

3) To provide enriched inputs for better career.

4) Pioneering the spirit of creativity and research.

5) To support social endeavours and ethical values with sustained efforts.

Activities reflecting the goals and objectives:

All the activities of the college are focused towards fulfilling the institutional goals and

objectives. Our academic & Co-Curricular & Extra-Curricular activities during 2010-11 are

directed towards educational advancement & uplftment of all students enrolled in A.S.Patil

College of Commerce, Bijapur.

With introduction autonomy since 2008-09 which has provided ample opportunities for

all round development of students through :

Need based and knowledge based curriculum

Job oriented COP courses.

Personality development programmes.

Value added co-curricular activities.

While designing syllabi the faculty has emphasised not only the educational goals to be

achieved but also ensuring all round development and making learners to react to the evolving

realities in the societal and economic needs.

The multi-dimensional autonomous curriculum has given enormous scope for enriching

the knowledge of the students. In consultation with academic experts and stakeholders, the

curriculum gets updated to meet the changes in higher education. The faculty and students are

motivated to take research activities by way of presenting papers at workshops, seminar and

symposium and pursuing Ph.Ds and M.Phils. As a part of the project work and research, PG

students are allotted live projects.

The various activities conducted during 2010-11 which fulfilled above goals and

objectives of the college:

Extension of autonomy to B.Com, BBA, and BCA V and VI Semesters and M.Com. and

MBA III and IV semesters. All the statutory body meetings were duly convened as per

autonomous provisions prior to the commencement of academic year 2010-11 and duly

approved in the Governing Body meeting held on 27th July 2010. CBCS is extended to M.Com

and MBA II & IV semesters & OEC in communication skills women studies and Internal

economies at M.Com level.

3 COP courses namely Computerised Accounting & Taxation, Retail Management and

E-Commerce have been introduced since 2007-08 are continued in full swing with the aim of

empowering studies with self employment.

The TQM orientation was conducted for B.Com students as per following schedules.

B.Com I 09-08-2010 Dr. Suresh Jangamshetti (Basaveshwar Eng College Bagalkot)

B.Com II 01-09-2010 Dr. Rajkumar (Banaras Hindu University, Varanashi)

Extension lecture series under the title “Lectures beyond curriculum” was conducted

by Dept. of Economics on “Sustainable Development” on 13-4-2011, Dr. Rajendra Poddar,

Asso. Professor Agricultural Science College, Hittnalli was the resource person.

Special lectures on the following topics were conducted:

Microprocessor for BCA IV sem, by Smt D. Acharya, Lecturer, Darbar BCA

College,Bijpaur.

Design and Analysis of Algorithm for BCA IV sem, by Smt Rashmi Karchi,

Assistant Professor, MCA Dept. BVVS Baglkot.

UGC sponsored Remedial Coaching classes for SC/ST and OBC were conducted in the

subjects such as English, Financial Accounting, IT, Costing and Computers.

UGC sponsored coaching classes for competitive exams for entry into service were also

conducted and 5 students got appointment in nationalized Banks.

GDs, Seminars, Case studies, debates were conducted for all the classes to strengthen

communication skill, aptitude and stage management.

Exam results at the final year degree exam at UG and PG level is above 70% and good

number of students have passed in distinction at M.Com Miss Archana Havale has got IIIrd rank

to KUD during the exam conducted in 2009-10.

Faculty evaluation by the students was conducted during the first two weeks of Feb,

2010. A set of students from each class were chosen based on their regularity and attendance for

evaluation students gave their genuine feedback of the teaching staff which helps for faculty’s

self improvement in teaching-learning process.

Faculty were encouraged to attend national and international level seminars, workshop

and conferences. Detailed list of paper presented, published and attended is given in the

outcome part of IQAC.

Dept. of MBA & BBA

‘Hamara Dhandha’ is a faculty development programme hosted in joint with NITIE

on 12th February, 2011. Dr. T. Prasad associate professor & Dr. S. M. Dhume associate

professor from National Institute of Industrial Engineering Mumbai were the resource

persons.

Team building activities by Captain Rob of NIBE, Australia. He addressed the

students of MBA and made them to role play various games on team building.

“Mandi 2011” hosted by MBA Programme on 12th February 2011, Dr. T. Prasad

associate professors & Dr. S. M. Dhume associate professors National Institute of

Industrial Engineering Mumbai were the resource persons for the event.

Under the lead of Prof. S.C. Talikoti, the Students of BBA I semester had organized an

expo “STATUS -10” in which they exhibited the models of Statistics from 25th to 27th

September 2010.

“BRAND POWER” – A marketing event was conducted for BBA V semester by Prof.

S.C. Talikoti, on 11th October 2010.

On 31st August 2010, Dr. RajKumar (Faculty of Management Studies, Banaras

Hindu University, Varanasi) was invited to deliver a guest lecture on the topic

“Personality Development & Social Responsibilities of a Management Student” for

BBA students.

Industrial Visit- One day industrial visit was conducted for BBA V SEM as a part of

their curriculum. The students were taken to HUBLI. Four companies were visited on

6th Dec. 2010.

Social Concern :

Extension activities undertaken through NSS, NCC, YRC, Ladies forum during 2010-11

enable the studies.

“Freshers’ Day” for B.Com and M.Com students.

Inauguration of Ladies Forum activities and observing international womens day.

Bicycle procession by YRC students.

“Hindi Day” & “World Ozone Day” celebration.

2) New Academic Programmes Initiated (UG & PG) :

Introduction of Diploma and advanced Diploma courses in Retail Management & E-

commerce for B.Com. students and certificate course in ASP.NET for BCA students.

3) Innovations in curricular design & development :

All the faculty of the college undertook the activity of introspection and review of

syllabus of the B.Com., BBA & BCA V& VI semesters. Curricular Design and

Development committee along with subject experts from business and industry were

actively involved and spent numerous hours of deliberation on the course content of V &

VI sem of UG & III & IV semesters of PG.

The outcome of deliberation are: Introducing of Public Finance in lieu of Indian

Economics at B.Com V sem.

Extension of CBCS to M.Com. III & IV semester.

BCA programme: We have updated the syllabus by adding latest technology as a part

of syllabus.

Todays market is more focused on Open Source hence we have included

MySQL in DBMS at 3rd Semester and Linux Theory & Lab at BCA Vth

Semester.

Mini projects are included at BCA IVth, BCA Vth and one major project at

BCA VIth Semester. At BCA IV semester a mini project has to be developed

using Java, Apache server and MySQL. At BCA VIth Sem student has to

Management Information System is include at BCA Vth Sem. Which will help

the students to know how Information System is implemented in Business

effectively.

As today lot of opportunities are available at testing side, so Software Testing

is introduced at VI semester.

To teach Communication and corporate ethics we have introduced Professional

Communication & Ethics at BCA VI.

On 25/09/2010 NSS wing and Dist Legal Service Center organized one day work-shop

on “Kanunin Arivu Neravu” where Dist. Judge L Subramnya and lawyers

Dongaragavi and Lahori shared their thoughts

On 09-09-2010 our students visited Haralayya Blind school and celebrated Raksha

Bandan with Blind children and distributed sweets and donated one tabla- set to the

school.

From 23/01/2010 to 29/01/2010 NSS special camp was conducted in the village Torvi

where our volunteers cleaned the premises of Laxmi Temple and constructed the

compound wall of KSWU Campus and planted trees along the same.

On 15/08/2010 37 students donated blood which was organized by NSS wing of our

college.

Celebration of ‘World Environment Day’ by observing No Vehicle day with the motto

of “Save petrol and preserve environment”

AIDS awareness programme, Plantation, Sanitation, Civic awareness programme by

NSS unit.

NCC cadets participated in Republic Day march-past at Ambedkar stadium, Antidowry

Jatha, Anti leprosy drive, blood donation camp & Tree Plantation. They also participated

in Anti terrorism Rally which was headed by the college under the Anti Terrorism

Abhiyan, a month long programme. NCC Battalion has adopted the Blind & Dumb

School and helped the students with clothes and basic needs.

On the eve of Centenary Birth Day of her holiness “Mother Theresa” coupled with

The rally was held in the evening from 6.30 Pm onwards and was looking absolutely

awesome. At the termination point of the rally, all the participants lit 100 candles in

front of BLDEA main entrance as it was coincidence of Centenary year celebrations

coupled with tribute to her holiness “Mother Theresa”. (Photos Available)

On the eve of Centenary year coupled with 64th independence day the students and

faculty of BBA & MBA came forward and took up initiation for social activities and

responsibilities under “ELITE Club Hands Together”

The E-Gems ( Students of Elite Club ) just inaugurated the club activities by an oath

ceremony on 18th August 2010.

Under the guidance of Prof. S.C. Talikoti and Prof. S.S. Hanagandi, the First activity of

Elite club was conducted in Shri Haralaya Blind School, Mallikarjun Nagar,

Ashram road, Bijapur on 18th Aug 2010. The event was cleaning the premises of the

It provides an opportunity to the students for giving their suggestions for further

development and better results. During the academic year 2010-11 the college conducted not

only the assessment of teachers and students, it conducted the feedback of the students on

campus and curriculum. It also conducted teacher wise and subject wise feedback. Students’

feedbacks have largely helped the college in evolving the appropriate strategy for quality

education.

Normally parent-teachers association meetings are held at the time of admission and at

the end of the year. Shortage of attendance and the performance of the students in all the tests is

discussed and suggestions are sought from parents in improving the standard of the institution.

Feedback from parents have also taken for further improvement and changes.

Parents are called and their views and opinions are discussed and taken in to account for

improvement. Their wards progress or mishaps are brought to light and remedial measures are

taken.

Separate Health center in collaboration with B.L.D.E. A’s Sri B. M. Patil Medical

IQAC team of the college along with Principal visited Christ College, St. Joseph’s

College of Commerce, and St. Joseph’s Arts and Science College and its research center in

August, 2010. It was an enriching experience to learn the initiatives taken by these

institutions in maintaining high standard of higher education. The team got an insight about

curriculum and academic activities under autonomous system and the documentation

process followed by IQAC.
