Industrial Trucks Sectional Committee, TED 23

F(lRFWORD

This Indian Standard (part 1) (First Revision) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards, after the draftfinalized by the Industrial Trucks Sectional Committee had been approved by the Transport EngineeringDivision Council.

The purpose of this standard is to provide a guide for the manufacturers and users of powered industrial trucks. This standard was first published in 1972. The revision of this standard has been taken up to align it withISOIDIS 1214/1 'Powered industrial trucks - Parameters for designation of rated capacity and capacityPart 1 : Powered high lift trucks'.

III this standard, the following changes have been incorporated:

a) Standard load centre distance is explained in detail,

b) Terminology has been included, and

c) Title has been aligned with ISO standard.

The composition of the Committee responsible for formulation of this standard is given in Annex A.

Fur the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, the final value, observed or calculated, expressing the result of a test or analysis, shall be rounded off in accordancewith IS 2 : 1960 'Rules for rounding off numerical values (revised)'. The number of significant places retainedin the rounded off value should be the same as that of the specified value in this standard.

( First Revision)

1 SCOPE

Thi s standa rd (Part I) defines the rated cap acity andcapacit y for a ll high lift truck s with respect 10 spec ifi edlift height and load centre distances and applies to highlift trucks equ ipped with an elev ating mast and forksor platform. up to and including a maximum ratedcapac ity of 10000 kg .

2 REFERENCES

the max imum load at a spec ified load centre distan cethai a given truck is designed to transport in a carryposition and stack 10 the maximum elevation of theload en gaging means with mast vertical. (Exceptio n:high lift order pickers, not de signed for stacking).Capacity is used to designate the load handlingcapability of a particular truck as equipped.

4 NOMENCLATURE

The lollowing standards contain provisions whichthrough reference in th is text . constitute provision ofthis standard . At the time of publication. the ed it ionsindicated were va lid . All sta nda rds are subjec t torevi sion, and parties to agreements based on th iss tandard are encouraged to inve stig ate the possibilityof appl ying the mo st recent editions of the standa rdsindicated below :

The nomenclature used in this standard for ratedcapacity designation is as follows (set' Fig. I) :

DH - horizontal load centre di stan ce from thecentre of gravity of the load to the frontface of the fork arm shank.

D; - vertical load centre distance from thecentre of gra vity of the load to the upperface of the fork arm blade (or platform).

IS No . Title H - standard lift height.

3.1 Rated Capacity

Rated capac ity o f a high lift truck equipped with a loadcarriag e anti for ks or platform, is the maximum loadQ, establi shed by the manufacturer. at a designatedstandard load centre distance (DH) that a given truckis designed to transport in a carry position. and stackto a standard lift height with ma st vert ical. Ratedcapacity is a means for comparing the load handlingcapability o f trucks .
