Roosevelt Elementary Home of the Roughriders Isis Contreras Principal December 2016 Vol. VI Issue 4 Dear Roosevelt Parents, December is here and the world is gearing up to celebrate a variety of holidays. No matter which of the holidays you observe, they all present a wonderful opportunity to spend quality time with family members. I can’t imagine a greater gift than spending special time with those you love the most!!! Parents, student attendance on a regular basis is essential throughout the year for children to maximize their learning, but especially in the second half of the school year. Please be sure to help get your children to school regularly and on time. If they are sick, etc., we certainly understand. We want the best for your child (ren) and strongly believe that they gain the most from being at school on a consistent basis. Thank you for your help and support in this regard. As winter approaches, the possibility exists for storms that would require the Superintendent to order a school cancellation, delayed opening or an emergency early closing. The Medford School District will use an automated system to notify families in the event of a school cancellation, weather delay, or other urgent messages. If you have not yet verified your phone numbers for this service, please call the school office. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a wonderful holiday season from all of us at Roosevelt Elementary!!! As always, thank you for all of your support!!! Isis Contreras Principal

Holiday Sing at Roosevelt

Students in music classes are preparing for a “Holiday Sing,” an assembly that will be open to families as well as students at Roosevelt. Each grade level will perform 2 or 3 songs for the rest of the school. The assembly will include songs about winter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Hanukkah. There will be one show on Friday, December 16th, at 1:30 pm in our Gym. All students in grades K-6 will perform. Parents are encouraged to come and enjoy the beautiful music our students have prepared. There is no clothing requirement for students, but this is a nice opportunity to dress up a little bit. We hope you can attend! ~ Mrs. Katzmar, Roosevelt Music Teacher
