ONLINE EXAMINATION SYSTEM

(Item Response Theory)

In psychometrics, item response theory (IRT) also known as latent trait

theory, strong true score theory, or modern mental test theory, is a paradigm

for the design, analysis, and scoring of tests, questionnaires, and similar

instruments measuring abilities, attitudes, or other variables. It is based on the

application of related mathematical models to testing



y The evaluation of the student performance is done only atspecific intervals.

y Whether students have understood the current topic or notcannot be estimated. If it is done may be a very timeconsuming and costly affair.

y No mechanism is available to the student to evaluate their

own understanding of the subject.

y No general benchmarking mechanism available for measuringthe quality of the student

Conventional examination system suffers from the

organizations can use this facility to conduct their

exams in an online fashion.

By Preparation of Question Paper blueprint:

A question paper blueprint consists of a set of hierarchical section. Each of thissection consists of an instruction (or remark) which would be displayed on the screenfor those particular sections.

A preview of the question paper would be available as when it is beingconstructed.

By providing Question Paper Matrix:

The question paper matrix would include items like no. of question from differenttopics, difficulty level mix 10% low, 50% medium, 40 % high). The question thussuggested can be modifies to suite a particular examination requirement
