October Special Offering Sunday, October 7
On World Communion Sunday, we gather together and celebrate the God-given poten-tial in all of us! Through the years, countless gifted people have been marginalized be-cause of ethnicity, financial hardship or other biases.
Please make checks payable to King Avenue UMC and indicate World Communion in the memo line. Envelopes, inserted in both services’ bulletins, will be available for your use.

Discussion on Statewide Issue 1
Monday, October 8, 7-8 pm in the Chapel
Discussion on Issue 1: To Reduce Penalties for Crimes of Obtaining, Possessing, and Using Illegal Drugs
There is only one statewide issue on the Ohio ballot this year. King Avenue UMC member and Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Richard A. Frye will offer some perspectives about its potential impact. There will be time for questions, comments, and dialogue.
Q: What is Fairtrade?
A: With Fairtrade you have the power to change the world every day. With simple shopping choices you can get farmers a
better deal. And that means they can make their own decisions, control their future and
lead the dignified life everyone deserves.
This is a mission of King Avenue Church
that supports just wages for laborers.
On sale the 2nd Sunday of each month before/ after the 11:00 service.
Payment may now be made at the kiosks!

Folk Music Coffeehouse Recalls 1960’s Struggles
Civil rights sit-ins. Bell-bottoms. Anti-war
marches. Student Power. Afros. Mini-skirts. Hip-pies. Riots. Space flights. The generation gap. Those hallmarks of the turbulent 1960’s will be re-
kindled Friday November 2 at 7:30 p.m. at this year’s annual “Spirit of the ‘60’s Coffeehouse,” a tradition here at King Avenue Methodist Church for about 20 years now. Bill Cohen will lead a candlelit, musical, year-by-year journey through the era, with live and familiar 1960’s folksongs, “news reports” of sixties happenings, displays of anti-war but-tons and posters, and far-out sixties fashions. Plus, Bill will also challenge the audience with six-ties trivia questions. Proceeds from the suggested $10 donations (at the door) will go to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank.
Refreshments will be available at no extra charge. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. in the church Fellowship Hall,
but get there early for a good seat!
The program is suitable for ADULTS and MATURE TEENS.
For more information, call Bill at (614) 263-3851 or e-mail [email protected]

Some of the topics discussed will be “Reconciliation Would Be Valued Over Judgment,” “Gracious Behavior Would Be More Im-portant Than Right Belief”, and “This Life Would Be More Important Than The Afterlife.” You can register for this class on REALM and the book can be purchased from Amazon or Barnes and Noble.
FAITH FORMATION
Five Marks of a Methodist
Adult Sunday School Class
How can you tell if someone is a Methodist? No, this isn’t a joke. John Wesley believed that a person could spot a Methodist based on these five characteristics. Join us Sundays 10am in the Chapel to learn what they are and how to live them out. October 14 - No-vember 18. No book or signup required.
Special Class Opportunity—October 7, 10am
United Methodism at the Crosroads: LGBTQ Inclusion in the future of our denomination.
As many people know, the Special Conference called by the United Methodist Council of Bish-ops to consider the recommendations of the Commission on The Way Forward will be held in February of 2019. This class will provide information about the options that will be pre-sented, and possible outcomes. There will be time for questions and answers and will be led by the pastors.

Faith Dive Join us in this ongoing group at 10:00 Sun-
day mornings in the Logos Lounge (L1) where we discuss how
Christian discipleship confronts and gives meaning to our place in this world – and what is that world?! Currently, we explore the question of “Who is My Neighbor?” through the lens of immigra-tion, and will continue through the experiences of ‘disability and
ability.’ Join our group on Realm to get updates.
