From the Vice PrinciPal’s Desk… ‘Education is a shared commitment between dedicated teachers, motivated students

and enthusiastic parents.’ Greetings! The session 2018-19 has been an eventful year with a plethora of activities, competitions, workshops and much more. I feel honoured and privileged to be a part of an educational institution where every stakeholder is a learner and every day is an opportunity to learn experience and discover new things. The year began on a positive note with outstanding board results of classes XII and X. Further, we celebrated relationships in the form of Family Day, Mothers’ Day, Fathers’ Day, Mother-Daughter session and Grand Parents’ Day in order to cherish the bonds we share as a family. The special assemblies to mark festivals and occasions were celebrated with great enthusiasm and gaiety. The State exhibition and Language Fest showcased the talents of our children. We were privileged to host the Mega event of the year- CBSE National Aerobics Championship in the month of November wherein the team worked together to make the grand event a successful one. In all, it was an exhilarating and fruitful year. Today the role of the school is not only to pursue academic excellence but also to motivate and empower its students to be lifelong learners. The post-modern culture has brought immense changes in our lifestyles and thinking patterns, and this has deeply affected the younger generation. With the change of time there should be a change in rearing and nurturing our children. When we are able to understand the needs of children, especially emotional needs and act upon it, we can make them emotionally strong and firm. The teachers are the nation builders and it is our foremost duty to not only instill in them the values but also aim to reflect the values in their attitudes, behaviour and contribute to a healthier and better society. With love and understanding, parents and teachers can make the youth of the nation strong and skilled. Adding to it, along with a great responsibility of parents and teachers, I also would like to make the students aware of their responsibilities towards the parents, school and the society. Also, I request the parents to sensitise young brains about respect towards elders and to each other as a strong value system encompasses solid foundation for the future. In sync with the vision of the school, we promise to nurture healthy, competent, happy children who blossom into sensitive, compassionate & successful individuals. At the end, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their continuous support in all our endeavours. The journey has begun towards excellence… Wishing all the very best to the new session! Dr. Sunita Jakhar Vice Principal

VISIT TO BIODIVERSITY PARK

“We’re the only species that have crapped up the planet and the only species that can clean it up.”

-Dennis Weaver

Being the residents of the most polluted city of the world, it is our moral duty to step forward and bring a change. To incorporate environmental awareness as part of their lives, the students of classes III-V visited Tau Devilal Biodiversity Park on 11th March, 2019. The visit helped the students to understand their immediate surroundings and know more about the local species. They witnessed the interdependence in the ecosystem where each species, no matter how small, has an important role to play. The visit aroused the inquisitiveness in the students and they asked numerous questions about the role of various plants in our daily lives which were answered by their teachers and the gardeners of the bio-diversity park.

ARTIFICAL INTELLIGENCE FOR YOUTH

Five Students from our school along with teacher in charges attended six day workshop on Artifical Intelligence for Youth at Atal Tinkering Lab, Salwan Girls School, Rajender Nagar from March 25-30, 2019. The aim of the workshop was to introduce the concept of Artificial intelligence to students. The workshop focused on the following application areas of Artificial Intelligence: Computer Vision, Data and Natural Language Processing. Students worked on OpenCV and NLTK libraries and were given a lot of hands on exercises and challenges which they had to complete within the given time. During the NLP session students interacted with various chat bots and were asked to create their your own ethical guidelines for designing robots. An online quiz was conducted at the end of workshop for students to recapitulate the topics. It was quite an enriching workshop and students enjoyed all the six days.

Building the intelligent Future

eXPressions Another year buzzes by, and an epiphany hits me-one of the most bountiful and formative years of our lives has come to an end. Class 11th is when all of us rise to occasion-taking the baton of responsibilities from those before us, and evolved into leaders working every second to further embellish the name of our school. From becoming the representatives of our juniors and learning to voice their concerns, to having endless fun in organizing and preparing for events, we laughed together, cried together and had so much fun together. We formed a million little memories along the way, all of which we will hold dearly forever. Making decorations and scripts for Teacher’s day, volunteering and planning for the Aerobics Meet, and escorting guests around campus all somehow made us into individuals who were ready to work as a huge team to achieve stunning results, and made us realize and get a glimpse into the intricacies and hard work that is needed to strive and progress further. We all became a family, looking after each other, caring for each other and helping each other to stand as a fortress ready to undertake each and every endeavor, along with its challenges, with grace. All the 11th graders, regardless of whether they were in the council, contributed in their own way to the school- winning laurels, working as extra hands, assisting and seeking guidance from our teachers for every significant and insignificant thing, helping juniors and many other things. Now, moving onto 12th grade, we reminisce over the little quarrels and giggles that we shared, the fights that we overcame that tried to tear us apart and move forward as bold, mature individuals. 11th was the most formative year in terms of academics, co-curriculars and leadership opportunities. Planning the farewell for our seniors now, nostalgia and agony already fills us as we prepare to leave and pass over the baton. But this year, we found ourselves, our strengths and weaknesses, and learned so many skills which would enrich us and prepare us for the future that lies ahead. We are now ready to seize the world as it is, and take a myriad of struggle and strife head on.

School Life

As I walked through the gate,

Feeling skeptical about my fate-

Walking with my new friends, with a bag full of books

And exchanging anxious looks.

And the years passed that way -

With us hoping not to be

Mathematics’ hapless prey.

I learnt helping everyone

And giving to all,

But taking from none.

Together we learnt and had fun,

Experienced the Monday Morning Blues

And assemblies under the shining sun.

I feel excited and afraid for the day

When we will wish each other for the last time

And sing a farewell rhyme.

But I hope the day comes never,

Because I want to be here forever.

Shailka Bhatnagar Class-XII

I am special, ridicule cannot sway me,

I am strong, obstacles cannot stop me,

I hold my head high, proudly proclaiming my uniqueness,

I hold my pace, continuing forward through adversity,

I am proud of my culture and heritage,

I am confident that I can achieve my goals,

I am becoming all that I can be,

I am the black child, I am the child of God.

Save the Girl Child Save the girl child unless it is too late we must realise what is at stake. The girl child is a treasure but when a boy is born it gives some parents more pleasure Haven't they forgotten over the years "There's no 'he' without a 'she'. Look at these people Oh they are so lame They worship the Goddesses but kill their daughters. What a shame! We must all remember And make it a way of life A daughter is not a tension A daughter equals ten sons.
