    Dear Parents:

Welcome to school year 2011 2012!

It was a delight to meet so many families during the New Parent and StudentOrientation. If you are new to the ISM community, please know that our doors arealways open and we will do our best to ease the transition for you and your child. On Thursday, August 25 we have a New Parent Coffee planned, starting at 7:45A.M., in the Little Theater. Please plan to join us.

The first day of school went smoothly and we thank everyone for contributing to asuccessful start. The enthusiasm on the students faces as they greeted oneanother in the halls, made new friends, and attended classes renewed life oncampus. We are thrilled to have all of our students from Grade 5 to Grade 8livening up the halls and rooms of ISM.

This year we started school with 95 new students our highest intake to date fora total of 631 students. The MS Guidance department and our counselors havebeen extremely busy with interviews and the higher numbers put a bit of pressureon the overall schedule as classes filled up. As the first full week draws to a close,we want to thank students and parents for their patience and understanding asstudent schedules were finalized. Together with the teachers, we are lookingforward to an exciting year ahead.

On Tuesday, August 16 we will have our Back to School night from 5:00 P.M. to7:30 P.M. A letter was sent home with the details and we hope you will be able tojoin us. The evening will give you an opportunity to meet your childs teachersand get a taste of life in Middle School.

As the school year commences, please take note of the following points:

Since after school clubs and activities have not yet started, students are

expected to be off campus by 3:15 P.M. Please make the necessarytransportation arrangements so that your child is picked up promptly at dismissaltime. Clubs and activities will begin on Monday, August 22.

Student planners have been distributed during Homebase. Please spend some

time with your child reviewing the student handbook portion of the planner.Important information regarding policies is contained in the handbook. It isexpected that all students be familiar with and adhere to established policiesand procedures. At the back of the planner is an acknowledgement letter thatwe ask all parents to sign and return to school.

It is vital that the office has the most current contact information for each

family in the event of an emergency or school closure. Please update yourcontact information by accessing PowerSchool. If you do not know or haveforgotten your username and password, please call MS Guidance at 840-8555.
