General Controls

Possible Effects

1. An impossible work schedule

There should be a detailed schedule that would guide the shipbuilders in doing their work. They must not be put into pressure that led to a disastrous project.

The shipbuilders could have been systematic enough to plan their work that would lead them a successful project and no too much pressure are put into them.

2. Requirements that change too rapidly

As possible, changing of plan in the midst of a project must be avoided. If there is, they should be properly documented and planned.

Planning documents could have been helped Isbrandsson to continue the unfinished business of Hybertsson. That would probably make a tremendous difference.

3. Lack of detailed planning

There should be detailed guidelines or frameworks that would guide the builders in making their project.

The King will be able to know, what specifications that his ship would have without compromising its purpose. This would limit him to add betterments and improvement without knowing its pros and cons.

4. Going overboard with innovation

Every decision that they have to consider must undergo a process of evaluating and analyzing possible events that might lead that particular decision.

This would make the ship simpler yet more advantageous since they are conscious on what they are doing and knew what they wanted to achieve.

5. Pumping too many requirements in a project

There should be devices, controls and techniques that would internalize and person that identify if the project is attainable and reasonable.

This would lead VASA ship to be ready for battle..

6. Ignoring obvious problems

Implement corrective Controls if there is detected problem.

The ship would’ve been launched and corrective actions are executed like: Reconstruction of some parts of the ship.

7. Poor Communications Careful, transparent and timely communications to the specific risks must be made by the manager.
