The launch of Wikipedia sparks the rise of user-

    generated content

In January 2001, Wikipedia, the free user-generated

online encyclopedia, came online and quickly became the

reference site of choice for Internet users.

Its a departure from the style of traditional encyclopedias, Wikipedia

is largely open to editing. This means that, with the exception of

particularly sensitive and/or vandalism-prone pages that are "protected"

to some degree from editing, the reader of an article can edit the text

without needing approval, doing so anonymously or with a registered

account. Different language editions modify this policy; for example,

only registered users may create a new article in the English edition.

Wikipedia includes over 24.3 million freely usable articles in 285languages,written by over 38 million registered users and numerous

    anonymous contributors worldwide.

Automated teller machineATM is a cash machine, cashpoint, cashline or sometimes a

hole in the wall in British English and Hiberno-English, is a

computerized telecommunications device that enables the

clients of a financial institution to perform financial

Transactions without the need for a cashier, human clerk or

    bank teller.

But in the 1960s, when the first cash-dispensing ATM wasinstalled at a branch of Barclays Bank in London, it was

revolutionary. What's more, over the decades, ATMs have become much more

than just cash dispensers. They also allow customers to carry out a range of

banking activities, including deposits and mobile phone top-ups.

Today, ATMs have been popularized across the globe. Experts estimate that

developed countries like the USA, Canada, the UK and Japan have a high

concentration of ATMs per capita, while steady economic growth in India and

China has meant that the number of bank machines in these countries has

been growing in the last decade

    Social Media

The best way to define social media is to break it down. Media is an instrumenton communication, like a newspaper or a radio, so social

media would be a social instrument of communication.

Social media includes the various online technology

tools that enable people to communicate easily via

the internet to share information and resources. Social media can include text,

audio, video, images, podcasts, and other multimedia communications.

The internet usage effects of social media as of 2012 are, according to Nielsen,

that internet users continue to spend more time in social media than any other

site. At the same time, the total time spent on social media in the U.S. acrossPC and mobile devices increased by 37 percent to 121 billion minutes in July

2012 compared to 88 billion minutes in July 2011.

    Cloud Computing

Cloud computing is the use of computing

resources that are delivered as a service

    over a network

The name comes from the use of a cloud-shaped symbol as an abstraction

for the complex infrastructure it contains in system diagrams.

Cloud computing entrusts remote services with a user's data, software

    and computation.

Maryland and the University of Michigan teamed up to tackle

    teleportation

Although, previous experiments had been able to exchange information

between light particles as long as they were right next to each other, this new experiment was the first in which information traveled a more

significant distance between two isolated atoms.
