Quintiles is Top UK CSO, UK Top 10 Best Workplace and Britain’s Healthiest Company!

Quintiles is renowned for its excellent training, innovative recognition programmes and extensive career

opportunities. So, it’s not surprising that the readers of Pharmaceutical Field, for the 12th year in succession, have voted Quintiles the No. 1 UK Contract Sales Organisation.

In addition, and hot on the heels of coming in sixth in the prestigious Financial Times Top 50 UK Best Workplaces, Quintiles has now been named Britain’s Healthiest Company!

In a nationwide contest to identify organisations with an ‘outstanding approach to employee health and well-being’, Quintiles was not only the overall winner, but also topped the ‘Most Healthy Workplace’ category.

Robert Taylor, UK Head of Commercial Solutions was thrilled: “Looking after our people is in the DNA of Quintiles’ culture. It’s a ‘Triple Crown’ for Quintiles

I inherited a small family business recently and had to rethink my full-time position in pharma sales. After a 30-year career, I felt it would be too much of a wrench to give up completely, so I was delighted to secure a ‘mornings only’ sales position, letting me look after my business and keep the job I love.

I’ve worked for two other CSOs and found them disappointing employers – varying between ‘very distant’ to ‘down-right awful’! With Quintiles, it’s totally different. They’re concerned about you as an individual, not only in your career development but also in encouraging a healthy lifestyle and achieving the right balance between work and personal interests.

It’s not just words – I’m a keen cyclist and recently bought a new road bike and Quintiles, through their Healthy U Healthy Q programme, contributed to the cost. I’m not surprised that we’re Britain’s Healthiest Company! However, I’m flexible too and I’m happy to work Saturdays or occasional afternoons, to meet customer objectives. No problem, since at Quintiles you really feel part of a great success story.

Ron Featherstone Part-Time Medical Sales Representative

When my kids were growing up, Quintiles offered me the flexibility of being a part-time representative. Returning to full-time work, I wanted to develop but not to the detriment of my family.

In 2010, Quintiles was leading the industry in e-Detailing and I became one of their first remote representatives – and absolutely love how it empowers me to get the best of both worlds! It’s full-time, with tough targets – definitely not a ‘cushy’ number.

However, by eliminating travelling and waiting around in surgeries, I have more time to focus on achieving positive outcomes.

In my home office, online, everything I

need is to hand; I have all day to book and carry out my presentations to healthcare professionals, can immediately sort out GP queries, and arrange follow-up calls and update accounts instantly. At 5 pm I can close my computer and turn my attention to the family.

However, e-Detailing is a flexible option for the GPs so if an evening or Saturday presentation is needed, then that’s where I’m flexible too.

Quintiles trusts me to manage my workload and gives me the flexibility to be a dedicated professional and a brilliant Mum!

“[Remote detailing] empowers me to get the

best of both worlds”

Sharon Bahra Senior Medical Sales Representative, E-Detailing Team

I joined the Quintiles Market Access team 18 months ago and was delighted to discover how strongly committed Quintiles is to encouraging a healthy lifestyle for its employees, overtly demonstrated by their physical activity reimbursement programme, Healthy U Healthy Q.

As a keen competitive swimmer, I represented West Wales in my

youth and continue to train regularly as part of my lifestyle. Quintiles not only reimburses my pool membership but also gives me the autonomy to manage my workload to fit around my training programme. Interestingly, swimming and work are not mutually exclusive. Often, when ploughing up and down the pool, I’m ruminating on work issues and swimming has regularly brought clarity to projects. Also, getting a good balance between work and other interests makes you more resilient when work pressures increase, as they often do within Market Access.

Being mentally and physically fit makes it easier to deliver ‘over and above’ for my customers and for Quintiles. Swimming helps me achieve this goal and Quintiles benefits from having a fit and highly motivated employee.
