Introduction

Print and complete this lab.

In this lab, you will set a passcode lock, change a passcode lock, and fail passcode authentication. You will also remove a passcode lock.

Recommended EquipmentThe following equipment is required for this exercise: • Android tablet or smartphone running Android version 4.0

• iOS tablet or smartphone running iOS version 5.0

Part 1 - Configure passcode settings on an Android device

Step 1Turn on the device and log in with the password, PIN, or other passcode, if necessary.

The main home screen appears.

Step 2Touch the notification and system icons.

The “notification” area appears.

Touch PIN.

Type 1234.

Touch Continue.

Type 1234 to confirm the PIN.

Press the power button to unlock the screen.

Type 1234.

Touch OK.

Press the power button to unlock the screen.

Type 4321.

Touch OK.

What happens?

Enter the incorrect PIN 4 more times.

What happens?

Step 6After 30 seconds, enter the correct PIN.

Touch Screen Lock.

What happens?

Why?

Type the correct PIN.

Touch Continue.

Touch None.

Press the power button to lock the screen.

Press the power button to unlock the screen.

What happens?

Part 2 - Set a Passcode Lock on an iOS Device

Step 1Turn on the device and log in with the password, PIN, or other passcode, if necessary.

The main home screen appears.

Touch Turn Passcode On.

The “Set Passcode” screen appears.

Re-enter 1234 to confirm the PIN.

Step 4Press the power button to lock the screen.

Press the power button to unlock the screen.

Slide to unlock the screen.

Type 1234.

Touch Passcode Lock.

Why?

Type the correct PIN.

Touch Turn Passcode Off.

Type the correct PIN.

Press the power button to lock the screen.

Press the power button to unlock the screen.

What happens?
