Next, you will visit the National Fish and Wildlife Refuge where you will experience the habitat and view the birds and waterfowl that call the refuge their migrant home. Afterwards, a scenic overlook and a magnificent chapel. After refreshing at the hotel, you will enjoy a relax- ing dinner cruise on the Mississippi River aboard an authentic paddle wheeler. Day Two: Climb aboard your coach for an adventure on the Great River Road! You will visit the Lark Toy Factory, the National Eagle Center, and have lunch in Wabasha where Grumpy Old Men was filmed. Then…”I SCREAM, YOU SCREAM, we ALL SCREAM for ice cream at Nelson Creamery. Next, we ascend on a windy road to visit Buena Vista, a popular park with an incredible view. Grapes are grown all around the Mississippi River bluffs and processed to make some very tasty wine, so a stop at Danzinger Winery is in order before we descend down the bluff. We will continue south on the Great River Road and complete the day with a scrumptious dinner at an Irish Restaurant in a historic River Town. Day Three: You may be packing up, but the tour is far from over! Today, you will be visiting the International Crane Foundation, and then Cranberry Country! Did you know that Cranberries were once called CRANEberries? It's true! The blossoms of the cranberries resemble the head of a Crane. Somewhere along the line, the "e" was lost...I wonder where it went? This day promises to be very interesting and informative. STARRING LA CROSSE W ISCONSIN , W INONA M INNESOTA , AND THE GREAT R IVER ROAD

The story of these two cities is indeed a tale of discovery, hardships, and triumphs with happy and sometimes bittersweet endings.

You will delight in discovering the similarities and differences of these quaint and beautiful cities perched on the banks of the Mississippi River.

Day One: This historic River Town was discovered by the French Explorers then later named “Prairie La Crosse” by Lieutenant Zebulon Pike. In 1841, a young man from New York City started the first settlement and opened a fur trading post. From that point on, La Crosse became the perfect place for many immigrants to begin their lives in the new land. Today, it is a popular destination with the character of a great place to live, work, and play!

Your day will include a professionally guided City Tour of La Crosse with stops at famous attractions including Grandad Bluff, The Chapels of St. Rose, Dahl Auto Museum, and The Hixon House. You will enjoy a happy ending to the day with a dinner cruise aboard the La Crosse Queen Paddlewheel Boat on the Mississippi River.

Extras can include the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, The Pearl Ice Cream and Soda Fountain, Lunch with a Cooking Demonstration, and a visit to a Craft Brewery.

Day Two:

Discovered by an Army Lieutenant ordered to find the origins of the Mississippi River and later chosen as a town site by Packet Boat Captain Orrin Smith, Winona has rose to stardom as a bustling and thriving city on the banks of Old Man River.

One of the most prevalent and fantastic features of Winona is the stained glass windows you will find adorning many of the buildings and churches throughout the city. You will enjoy a guided tour of the city highlighting the stained glass industry along with a history of the city’s past. Next, you will visit J.R. Watkins Corporate Headquarters. The Minnesota Marine Art Museum is included in the itinerary, along with a scrumptious lunch.

Extras can include a visit to a famous Auto and Toy Museum, a Winery, and in the fall – an Apple Orchard and Farm Market. Dinner will be served at a classic Wisconsin Supper Club on the River.
