In 2007, iXS Sports Division decided to set up the iXS European Downhill Cup.

Meanwhile, this top-level racing series has become the most important apart

from the Worldcup. For 2011, the Cup is made up of 6 events that add to

both the downhill race calendar and the mileage of our cars. But why not? We

all know the saying home sweet home, and Europe’s downhill courses are our

home after all.

Diese Rennserie auf höchstem Niveau etablierte sich zur wichtigsten neben

dem Weltcup. In der Saison 2011 umfasst der Cup 6 Rennen und bereichert

den Downhillkalender und den Kilometerzähler unserer Autos. Aber warum

auch nicht, denn zu Hause ist es am Schönsten und wir sind nun mal auf

den Downhillstrecken in Europa zu Hause.

For the season’s kick-off, the downhill community gathers at Monte Tamaro.

Claudio Caluori and his crew have shaped a course into the steep terrain

with little more than their bare hands, offering high speed sections, lots of

banked corners and a lot of fun. As the start is at the mid-station, things

will be different this time – and the finish is where it belongs: Down in the

valley.

Der Saisonauftakt führt die Downhillgemeinschaft nach Monte Tamaro.

Der von Claudio Caluori mit bloßen Händen ins Gelände gefräste Kurs

ist gekennzeichnet durch Highspeedabschnitte, viele Anliegerkurven und

einem hohen Spaßfaktor. Diesmal wird alles anders, denn es wird von der

Mittelstation gefahren. Also nicht mehr verkehrte Welt, das Ziel ist da, wo

es hingehört, nämlich unten.

The second race is held at a famous venue: After having been off the race ca-

lendars for a long time, Todtnau is back. This legendary course has been revived

last year, and it’s not surprising that it still points downhill. Apart from that, the

course has everything your suspension could ask for: Drops, steps, roots, both

demanding and fast corners and a whole lot more.

Als zweites Rennen steht ein bekannter Name auf dem Programm. Todtnau

steigt nach langer Rennabstinenz wieder voll ein. Bereits im letzten Jahr

wurde die legendäre Strecke aus ihrem Schlaf geholt und wer hätte es

gedacht, sie geht immer noch bergab. Der Kurs hat alles was der Federweg

begehrt: Drops, Stufen, Wurzeln und anspruchsvolle Kurven

Leogang has become a familiar venue on the European series’ calendar – in fact, the Leo-gangsters are set to host 2012’s World championships. But first things first: The same course as in the Worldcup is served for the iXS Cup. Just how demanding that is will be obvious when some riders turn from pilots to mere passengers. Anyway, Leogang is well worth visiting.

Bereits ein fester Bestandteil im Kalender der Europaserie ist Leogang, wo sich die Leo-Gangster sogar die Weltmeisterschaften gesichert haben. Aber eins nach dem anderen, denn erst gilt es, den Weltcupkurs im Rahmen des iXS Cups zu fahren. Dass dies nicht einfach ist, wird man bei einigen sehen, wenn sie vom Pilot zum Passagier degradiert werden. Leogang ist auf jeden Fall eine Reise wert.

The series’ second half starts with a trip to Eastern Europe, to the country of

paper-thin wafers and Sliwowitz hard liquor. The course has been improved

for 2011’s race: All wooden structures have been turned to firewood, the

riding is being done on soil again. The fairy tales from the Böhmerwald area

are pretty famous already, so why not become a part of a downhill tale first-

hand?

Die zweite Halbzeit der Serie beginnt mit einer Reise in den Osten Europas,

nämlich ins Land der Oblaten und des Sliwowitz. Die Strecke wurde fürs Ren-

nen 2011 optimiert: Das Holz ist in den Ofen gewandert und man fährt nun

wieder auf der Erde. Märchen aus dem Böhmerwald kennt jeder, also warum

nicht auch mal aus nächster Nähe eine Downhillgeschichte erleben?

The series’ penultimate race is going to be held in Pila. Everybody knows

the Italians are passionate about cycling. Last year it showed that they’re

also into the sport of downhill racing, when countless visitors lined up at

the course of the first iXS race in the Aosta valley. This course has everything

that could possibly show up on a course builder’s list of wishes.

Das vorletzte Rennen der Serie wird in Pila ausgetragen. Dass die Italiener

radsportbegeistert sind, dürfte jedem klar sein. Dass sie auch Bergabrad-

sport mögen wurde im letzten Jahr bestätigt, als erstmalig ein iXS Rennen

im Aostatal unzählige Zuschauer an den Streckenrand führte. Der Kurs hat

alles, was auf dem Wunschzettel eines Streckendesigners stehen kann.

Châtel has been the venue for a whole series of iXS races in the recent

past. And since we really feel at ease there, it has become a fixed date on

the calendar. So the finale will treat everyone with fine food and racing for

connoisseurs. The race is going to be held on the Bike Patrol course which is

classified as a black piste for a good reason.

Bereits zum X-ten Mal findet ein iXS-Rennen in Châtel statt. Und weil wir uns

dort so wohl fühlen ist dieser Stopp fest im Kalender etabliert. Zum Abschluss

können sich demzufolge alle noch einmal auf bestes Essen und Racing für

Genießer freuen. Gefahren wird auf der Strecke Bike Patrol, die nicht umsonst

als schwarze Piste eingestuft ist.

In 2006, not only the soccer worldcup came to Germany but also the iXS German Downhill Cup. However, this series is not a one-time affair as it’s going to be held for the sixth time. In Germany, downhill racing offers a mix of action-loaded top sport and some folk festival flair, which shows espe-cially at the iXS Dirt Masters in Winterberg that kicks off 2011’s season.

Nicht nur die Fußball-WM kam 2006 nach Deutschland, auch der iXS German Downhill Cup. Allerdings ist die Rennserie keine einmalige Sache, sondern wird nun bereits zum 6. Mal ausgetragen. Downhill in Deutschland steht für actiongeladenen Spitzensport mit einem volksfestartigen Flair, wie beispielsweise beim iXS Dirt Masters in Winterberg, mit dem die Saison 2011 eingeläutet wird.

iXS GDC Intro + Termine

The first weekend in June should be marked in the calendar just like Christ-

mas or your own birthday. At the iXS Dirt Masters you get an idea of how

it feels when these two things are celebrated on the same date. As for the

presents however, you have to take care of those yourself. So whoever does

not show up probably likes to party all alone in his basement.

Das erste Juni Wochenende sollte genau so fest im Kalender verankert sein

wie Weihnachten oder der eigene Geburtstag. Wie man sich fühlt, wenn

diese beiden Tage auf dem gleichen Datum liegen, können alle beim iXS

Dirt Masters lernen. Nur die Geschenke muss sich jeder selbst machen. Also

wer nicht da ist, der feiert wohl gern allein im Keller.

I like to mountain bike, key word being MOUNTAIN! I love being outside with my friends in nature going for it on the trails and having a ton of fun at all times. “Isn’t that what life is all about?” I am all about having the right gear for the situation and iXS has it!

Ich mag mountain biken, das Schlüssel-wort dabei ist MOUNTAIN! Ich liebe es draussen zu sein, mit meinen Freunden Zeit in der Natur und auf den Trails zu verbringen und dabei tonnenweise Spass zu haben. „So soll das Leben sein - ist es nicht so?“ Dabei ist es mir wichtig, in jeder Situation die richtige Ausrüstung zu haben und iXS hat sie!

J‘aime le vélo de montagne parce que j‘aime la MONTAGNE! J‘apprécie d‘être au grand air, de passer du temps avec mes amis en pleine nature. Je prends beaucoup de plaisir à faire du VTT avec eux. « La vie ne doit-elle pas être ainsi? » Il est important pour moi d‘avoir l‘équipement adapté à chaque situation et c‘est iXS qui l‘a!

Adoro il mountainbiking, la parola chiave è proprio la MONTAGNA! Adoro stare all’aperto, trascorrere del tempo con gli amici in mezzo alla natura e lungo i sentieri: è una fonte inesauribile di divertimento. „È così che dovrebbe essere la vita o mi sbaglio?“ Per me è davvero importante poter disporre - in qualsiasi situazione - dell‘attrezzatura giusta e iXS è proprio quello che fa per te!

The oldest child of the iXS Downhill family was born in Switzerland. At nine years of age, it still is considered a minor so iXS continues to take care of it. The first-born is not necessarily the favourite however: After all we love all of our children just the same. But as this series has become known all over the place by now we can’t help but feeling proud about what the iXS Swiss Downhill Cup has become.

Das älteste Kind in der iXS Downhill Familie wurde in der Schweiz geboren. Und da man mit 9 Jahren immer noch minderjährig ist, kümmert sich iXS auch weiterhin. Dass das Erstgeborene immer das Lieblingskind ist, wird einstim-mig bestritten, schließlich hat man alle gleich gern. Die Serie ist international bekannt wie ein bunter Hund. Und weil wir alle Tiere mögen, mögen wir auch den iXS Swiss Downhill Cup.

The iXS Rookies Cup is a bit like elementary school. However the classroom

looks different as it points downhill. The study materials are a bit more expensi-

ve as well, and there are no brawls during the breaks. Whoever has ambitions

to graduate should pay attention and learn a lot, and yes: Copying is allowed.

Starting from an age of eleven, everyone can participate and one thing is for

sure: No matter how good you are, you get promoted to the next class.

Der iXS Rookies Cup ist sozusagen die Grundschule. Allerdings sieht das Klas-

senzimmer etwas anders aus, denn es geht bergab. Auch sind die Unterrichtsma-

terialien etwas teurer und in der Pause wird sich nicht geprügelt. Jeder der eine

höhere Reife anstrebt, sollte hier gut aufpassen und viel lernen, auch Abgucken

ist erlaubt. Ab elf Jahren kann jeder teilnehmen und eins ist gewiss, die Verset-

zung in die nächste Klasse geschieht automatisch, egal wie gut man ist.
