Lackland Elementary and Stacey Jr/SR High School Conduct Annual Health Fair Stressing the importance of being healthy, both the elementary and secondary campuses conducted their annual health fair during the afternoon on Friday, January 20 th . This event focuses on a variety of topics each year and changes based on important issues that our students encounter. The elementary school’s topics included: Choices and Consequences presented by counselor Mrs. Kimberli Johnson, Bullying presented by counselor Mrs. Laura Everest, Public Health, and Wacky Olympics. Some of the classes were conducted in a classroom type setting and others such as Wacky Olympics took place in the gym and required students to move and work together. The secondary school also focused on bullying, which is a major problem in today’s schools. Mrs. Duron and Mrs. Jackson facilitated a session on nutrition utilizing responders to keep students engaged in the lesson. In the gym, Mr. Jeff Smith and his staff facilitated a session of wacky Olympics which tested student’s coordination and team building skills. Lackland Elementary and Stacey Jr/SR High School

Conduct Annual Health Fair

Stressing the importance of being healthy, both the elementary

and secondary campuses conducted their annual health fair during

the afternoon on Friday, January 20th . This event focuses on a

that our students encounter.

Ms. Motz’s second grade class visited The San Antonio Museum of Art this

week. Students toured the China-Jade Exhibit. Afterwards, they made

“jade dragons” out of green paper and oil pastels. Students said that they

learned some neat things about Jade. Did you know that it takes years to

carve even a simple object out of jade?

Yearbooks on sale in the elementary office

for $22.00

Your child must have a yearbook to attend the end of the year signing party.

Also, you may submit a “Love Line” to your child to be printed in the yearbook.

Forms went home this week, or pick one up in the front office.

Proud Artists A few of the sixth graders showing off their ceramic creations. The entire grade level did this hands on

project by developing an armature that would support their clay and give it a distinct shape. Beautiful glazes

were applied to the projects and fired in our kiln. A terrific job was done by all!

YEEHAW! Lackland Elementary Choir and Lackland Line Dancers to perform at

Cowboy Breakfast!

Choir Rehearsal-Tuesday 3:15-4:15 in the music room

Line Dancer Rehearsal-Thursday 3:15-4:30 in the music room (location may

change due to numbers)

All participants need to arrive at 6:30 am for attendance and

instructions. For more information, email Miss Coffey at
