TyPes OF OmniTRans Passes31-day Passes31-Day Passes are good for 31 consecutive days,beginning with the first use. For example, if you firstuse the pass on September 15, the pass is good throughOctober 15. The first time you insert your pass into thefarebox card reader on the bus, and the machine willprint the effective dates right on the pass for you.

7-day Passes7-day Passes work much like a 31-Day pass – the passis good for seven days, beginning with the first use. Forexample, if you first use the pass on Friday, September19, it will be good through Thursday, September 25.And just like the 31-Day pass, the farebox card readerwill print the effective dates on the pass for you whenyou activate the pass.day PassesDay Passes are good for one day of unlimited travel onall local Omnitrans buses. For your convenience, theyare available for purchase on the bus. You also canorder packages of 10 Day Passes by mail, or atlocations shown on above.

TRansFeRs: FOOThill and RTa Omnitrans does not issue transfers to its passengers.If you need to change buses to complete your trip, orneed to travel past the end of the line on a route, youwill have to pay another fare when you board thenext bus, unless you purchase a 1-Day, 7-Day or 31-Day pass.

You may use your Omnitrans pass as a transfer toFoothill Transit at the Montclair Transit Center andthe Pomona Transit Center. You may use yourOmnitrans pass to transfer to Riverside Transitagency (RTa) at the VA Hospital in Loma Lindaand the Highgrove Library in Riverside County.Omnitrans passengers transferring to RTACommuterLink routes must pay an additional $1.50(the difference between the Omnitrans base fare andthe FTA commuter base fare). Omnitrans does notaccept free transfers from Beaumont Pass Transitand Victor Valley Transit; Beamont Pass Transitdoes not accept free transfers from Omnitrans.

meTROlinK TRansFeRsYou may use your one-way Metrolink ticket for onefree ride on Omnitrans bus departing a Metrolinkstation. You can also use your round trip Metrolinkticket or multi-day pass for one Omnitrans bus tripto and from a Metrolink station.Metrolink ticket/pass must be valid for date oftravel. Show to driver when boarding. Valid onconnecting routes only. See pg. 16 for more details.

BEFORE you board. If paying with a discountedfare, show the required ID to the driver.

• If you board the bus at night, it might be difficult forthe driver to see that you are waiting for the bus.Please try to be more visible standing at the busstop and beckoning the approaching bus.

• Don’t forget to signal to your driver to stop. Your driver needs to know that you need to board.

Once you’re at the bus stop, watch the bus as itapproaches and make sure that the number displayedon its headsign (just above the windshield) matchesthe number of the route you need to take. Be carefulat the bus stops and don’t crowd the curb. Stand nextto or directly under the bus stop sign. Have yourmoney ready.

If the bus is crowded, and you have tostand, please stand behind the yellow lines and moveas far to the rear of the bus as possible, holding thehandrails or straps. Please remember, the front seatsare reserved for senior citizens and persons withdisabilities. We require that you:✔ Be ready with exact change, bus pass or transfer BEFORE you board. If paying with a discounted fare, show the required ID to the driver.✔ Keep arms, legs and personal belongings out of the aisle.

✔ If you have a stroller, please fold it up and store it out of the way of other passengers. Non-folding strollers should be taken to the back of the bus. While you are riding, hold babies and small children on your lap. For their safety, children are not allowed to board, exit, or ride while in a stroller.✔ Do not eat, smoke or drink on the bus.Please do not use profanity on the bus. And no feet on the seats, please.

✔ All music players must be used with headphones.

✔ Service animals are allowed to accompany persons with disabilities. That person is responsible for the actions of the animal while aboard the bus. ✔ Pets may only ride the bus if they are in a secure pet carrier that fits in your lap.

✔ Never run alongside a moving bus. Do not attempt to board a bus which has pulled away from the curb; drivers are not allowed to stop once they depart.

✔ Do not act or make comments that could beperceived as threatening to other passengers or your driver. Omnitrans supports the United States Patriot Act of 2001,which strengthens laws against terrorism, and makes it a federal crime to commit violent acts against mass transportation workers, vehicles and facilities.

✔ No smoking or electronic cigarrettes allowed onboard.

Timepoint – Selected stops along a route that are printed in theBus Book to give customers the route’s direction and schedule.Timepoints are also used by our drivers to keep buses onschedule. Transfer Point – Stops where you can transfer to other Omnitransroutes to complete your trip. Transfer points are shown with thesymbol at right on route maps. A list of all connecting routenumbers is attached to transfer points on route maps. At TransitCenters and a few selected locations, you also can connect withother transit systems (see page 8 for a list of inter-agency transferpoints).

Tripper service – This means that the route deviates from its regularpath at specific times of the day, to make a special pick-up. Often, this isdone to pick students up from a school.

Peak Only – This type of service only operates during “peak,” orbusiest, travel times. For example, a route may operate only for a fewmorning and afternoon trips.

end of the line – Indicates that the bus has completed its route andwill begin a new trip. Buses only drop passengers off at the end of line.If you’re already on the bus and want to continue riding after it hasreached the end of the line, you must pay a new fare.

arrivals and departures – A schedule may have two columns of timelisted under a specific timepoint, with an “A” under one and “D” underthe other. This means that the bus will arrive at the timepoint at the firsttime, then wait a few minutes and depart from the stop at the secondtime listed.

BIKE & RIDE WITH OMNITRANS BIKE RACKS!Every Omnitrans bus is equipped with a bike rack on the front bumper than can hold two or three bikes.Bike racks can be used anytime during service hours, free of charge. Tire size must be 20” in diameter,which excludes most children’s bikes and motorized scooters. Children under the age of 14 can only usethe racks if they are accompanied by a bus-riding adult. Omnitrans is not responsible for lost, stolen ordamaged bikes. Owners assume all risk for transported bikes and are responsible for loading andloading bikes. Bikes are not allowed onboard the bus. For safety reasons, your driver is not allowed tohelp load or unload your bike.

Bike loading and unloading steps:1. Have your bike at the curb ready to load. Signal to your driver. Wait for the bus to come to acomplete stop and then tell your driver you will be loading a bike.

2. Go to the front of the bus and lower the bike rack from the folded position.

3. Lift your bike onto the rack and raise the support arm over the front tire.

4. Before exiting the bus, tell your driver you want to unload the bike. To unload, pull the support armout and down over the front tire, lift your bike onto the curb, fold the rack up to the locked position, stepaway from the bus with your bike and signal the driver to let him know you are finished.

Round trip Metrolink tickets will be honored for boardings to and fromMetrolink stations. When boarding the bus, show your ticket/pass to the driver. • Passengers using wheelchairs, scooters, orthopedic strollers, or similar mobility devices. Retail shopping carts are not allowed on board Omnitrans buses.

• Passengers using walkers, canes, crutches, or portable oxygen units, may use the ramp.

• Passengers who are not able to step onto the bus may use the ramp.

NOTE: Omnitrans buses can also “kneel” on request for easier boarding by orthopedically-challenged riders. Some stop locations may not be suitable for “kneeling”.

WhO may nOT use The RamP?• Riders with retail shopping carts, wagons or regular baby strollers.• Personal Care Attendants and companions of persons qualified to use the lift/ramp.

BOaRdinG• Get to your bus stop a few minutes early and wait near the sign. When the bus pulls up to the curb, just let the

coach operator know that you need to use the ramp and they’ll be happy to deploy it for you. The ramp is located at the front of the bus; just look for the wheelchair symbol on the bus’ door.

• Be sure to position yourself so that you’re clear of the ramp as it deploys. Your coach operator will let you know when it’s safe to move the ramp.

• Once on board the bus, you may find a seat. If you’re using a wheelchair or scooter, simply move to the reserved seating area and position yourself so that you’re facing the front windshield (we want you to enjoy the view during your trip). Remember to set your brake!

• in according with the Code of Federal Regulation 49, subpart G, 37.165 (c) 1.3, your coach operator will secureyour mobility device with clamps or straps that are stored on all buses. Coach Operators will decline to provideservice to a rider who refuses to allows his or her mobility device to be secured.

• Upon request, Operators may assist with boarding and alighting, manual wheelchairs up and down a particularly steep ramp.

• When you’re all set, pay your fare and give your coach operator your destination. This will help to ensure that the bus is positioned correctly at that stop, so that you can conveniently exit the bus.

eXiTinG• About a block before you reach your destination, press the signal tape next to your seat to remind your coach

operator that the bus is approaching your stop.• When the bus stops, please be patient as your coach operator allows other customers to board and exit the bus.

As soon as everyone’s on board, your mobility device will be released from its safety clamp/belts. Your coach operator will let you know when it’s safe to move onto the ramp.

liFT CaPaCiTyThe ramp on Omnitrans buses has been designed to safely accommodate wheelchairs and mobility devices that meet the following specifications:

• Maximum 30 inches wide by 48 inches long• Maximum 600 pounds, including passenger

seRViCe animalsDesignated service animals are welcome to ride the bus free of charge. Please note that your driver may ask if youranimal is a service animal, and what tasks the animal has been trained to perform. You also may be asked to remove yourservice animal from the bus if 1) the animal’s behavior is out of control, and you do not take effective action to controlit; or 2) the animal poses a direct threat to the health or safety of others. Pets may only ride the bus if they are in a securepet carrier that fits on your lap.
