Please contact Kathy Neily at 940-6165 or the church office (628-2111) with the items you can donate. A treasure is any physical item that can be sold.

Or give lessons in things like: crochet/knitting/sewing/quilting/cooking, playing bridge, dance, tennis, or badminton. Anything that you can share with someone else would be appreciated.

“The Sovereign Saviour” January 22, 2017 – 11:00 a.m.

2. Jesus is sovereign as a pardoning Saviour. (Heb. 2:10-13)

a. He brings s___________. (Hebrews 2:10; John 10:1)

b. He brings s___________. (Hebrews 2:11; 2 Corinthians 7:1)

c. He brings s_________. (Hebrews 2:12; Luke 15:10; Psalm 100:2; Ephesians 5:19)

d. He brings victory through s___________. (Hebrews 2:13)

3. Jesus is sovereign as a practical Saviour. (Hebrews 2:14-18)

a. He is practical in c__________. (Hebrews 2:14-15)

b. He is practical in c________. (Hebrews 2:16; 4:15)

c. He is practical in c________. (Hebrews 2:17; Ephesians 4:32)

d. He is practical in c_____. (Hebrews 2:18; 1 Corinthians 10:13)

The Saviour accepted our deepest need. He paid personally the price for our salvation and our escape from judgment. Now we must be willing to accept Him.

Every church needs people to take on servant leadership roles. We at First are no different. In preparation for the Annual meeting, the Nominating Committee will be meeting to present names of people to fill needed positions. We would like to know if you are interested in serving in one of the following capacities: Vice-Moderator – training to take on the role of moderator (call meetings and chair any business meetings). Chair the Nominating Committee. Deacons – Responsible for the spiritual direction of our church. This board meets monthly, and has other meetings or retreats as needed for discussion and growth for the board. Among other tasks the Deacons make decisions regarding ministry staff, membership, and serve communion. Missions Board – Responsible for overseeing the outreach programs of the church (e.g. Food Pantry, Community Suppers, block party). This board also presents and directs the Missions portion of the church budget. The board generally meets monthly. Trustees & Finance – Responsible for the physical upkeep and maintenance of the church building. This board makes decisions regarding the budget and oversees the use of funds that have been given to the church. They also make decisions regarding the Custodian and Office Administrator positions. This board also meets monthly, with occasional e-mail conversations in between. If you would be willing to serve in any way, please contact our church moderator, Karen Wightman at [email protected] or Pastor Dave ([email protected] or 902-628-2111)

DID YOU KNOW ( a moment in First Baptist history) That, in 1904, REV. GEORGE WHITE, pastor at the Charlottetown Baptist Church, and a Governor of Acadia University, promoted and led in the building the first Baptist parsonage on Fitzroy Street, next to the church. Pastor White personally raised almost half of the total $2,500. construction cost. While at Charlottetown, George White published 'Sparks For Your

Tinder', an interesting and popular study on religion.

There is the story of a pastor who got up one Sunday and announced to his congregation: "I have good news and bad news. The good news is, we have enough money to pay for our new building program. The bad news is, it's still out there in your pockets."
