Hi Everyone,
Hope the holidays were peaceful and enjoyable and I wish each and every one of you a very Happy and Healthy New Year!! It’s hard to believe 2018 is over, where did it go?????
Jessica Spicer will be conducting a make n’ take for our first meeting of the new year on January 27th. More info in newsletter.
Our first open house of 2019 is at Nancy and Jerry Fernon’s house on January 12th at 7:00 pm.
Sign-up sheets, for our annual picnic, will be available at the January and February meetings. Also, the $10 picnic fee may be paid at this time. More info to follow.

General Meeting Highlights from November 18th, 2018

Board Members present: Bonnie Eichholtz, Nancy Fernon, Gene Armeno, Norm Barrett, Gisela Suarez, Jessica Spicer, and Kathy Tavernia.
Bonnie Eichholtz called the meeting to order at 2:45 pm and welcomed all members and guest Christopher Bungy.
Secretary’s Report: Kathy asked if everyone received the Newsletter. As there were no questions, a motion to waive the reading and accept the report was made by Peggy Mead and seconded by George Fells. The motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report: Bob Obenland was absent and the report is in the newsletter.
Membership: Jessica Spicer stated that are 3 new members and the paid membership is 72.
Newsletter: Another wonderful Newsletter thanks to Gisela.
Prizes and Raffles: Gene said there will not be our normal prizes because of the Grinch Exchange and there will be 8 houses raffled for the tickets for Toys 4 Tots.
Web: Jonathan Stout, our Web Master, is absent but the website is up to date with more pictures to come.
Hospitality: Thanks to everyone who brought the goodies. The list was passed for January’s meeting.
Swap & Sell: There are 2 tables open for January. Please email Kathy Tavernia to sign up.
General Meeting, Upcoming Events - November 18th, 2018
Shirts: Bob has a variety of shirts for sale.
Elections: The Secretary called for the members’ vote. The Board was voted on by the members and positions remain the same and they will be installed at the end of January’s meeting. The vote was seconded by Norm Barrett and the motion carried.
Other NewsDisplay: Tabled until next year.November: The Harry Potter houses will be out in November.Charities: The recipients were SOS Children’s Village and Lighthouse of Broward and the amount of $250 was sent to each.
Upcoming EventsJanuary 7th: Board meeting at Gene’s house at 7:30 pm.January 12th: Open House, Jerry and Nancy Fernon, 7PMJanuary 19th: Open House, Norman Barrett, 7PMJanuary 26th: Open House, Carlos and Gisela Suarez, 7PMJan. 27th: General Meeting. A motion to adjourn was made at 4:30 pm by Norm Barrett, seconded by Eileen O’Connor. The motion carried.

15 Beans Soup – Kathy delighted us with this soup at the October meeting
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------For our next General Meeting the following members have kindly agreed to bring the snacks:

What you need: 2 packages of 15 Beans (Cajun);
1 large onion (chopped); 1 bunch of scallions (chopped);
6 stalks of celery (chopped); 4 tablespoons minced garlic; 1 large green
pepper and 1 large red pepper (chopped); a can whole kernel corn (salt
free); 1 tablespoon black pepper; 1 can green beans; 2 – 28 oz cans
crushed tomatoes; 2 cans Italian style diced tomatoes; 2 packages
chopped ham; 4 packages of sliced Hillshire Polka Kielbasa; 1 bag
spinach, 3 tablespoons each of basil, marjoram, oregano, parsley,
rosemary, thyme, Italian blend and seasoned salt; 1 tablespoon chili
powder.
INSTRUCTIONS: Cooking time for this recipe is 5 to 6 hours. In a large
pot, in plenty of water, cook the beans in HIGH for at for 45 minutes.
Then add all the ingredients up to the spinach. Keep cooking.
Every 1 ½ hours (approximately 3 times during the cooking period) add 1
tablespoon of all the other ingredients, except the chili powder. Add
the chili powder one time only during the last
1 ½ hour of cooking.
