Come Visit Alvin High School

Would you like to know what your student’s day is like at AHS? We would like to invite you to visit and tour our campus. We will be hosting campus visits and tours every Wednesday with tours starting at 7:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. If you are interested, please call Ms. Kreft at 281-245-2661 to sign up for a day and time that works best for your schedule.

Yearbooks Are Still On Sale

ASVAB Testing

An after school ASVAB test will be given on January 23 at 3 p.m. This is a voluntary test and students will need to sign up to take it. Juniors and seniors can sign up in Mr. Fitzwater's office or send him an email letting him know.

Alvin High School Elective Fair

The Alvin High School Elective Fair will be held on Thursday, January 25th, from 5:30 pm til 7:00 pm, in the AHS Cafeteria. The Elective Fair is for all 9th thru 11th graders that will be returning next year and for all 8th graders that will be incoming 9th graders next year. This will give the parents and students the opportunity to learn more about all the exciting course options and clubs that will be available for students next year.

AHS Theatre Department Presents, “Marie Antoinette”

AHS Theatre Department presents "Marie Antoinette" by David Adjmi. January 25th thru 27th at 7PM in the Shadow Creek High School Black Box Theatre. All Tickets are $7. Seating is limited. Tickets are available at https://alvinhsdrama.booktix.com. There will be no late seating and because of the intimate nature of the theatre, no one under 5 years old will be admitted.

Scholarship Assistance

AHS Counselors will be available to help interested seniors complete the AISD Local Scholarship Packet in B102 on the following Monday afternoons: January 22nd and January 29th from 3 – 5 PM. Please make plans to complete your application early. The deadline is February 4th at 11:59 pm. Feel free to contact your counselor if you have any questions.

Powder Puff Game

AHS's oldest tradition is back! The Annual Powderpuff game will be held on Thursday February 22nd at 7pm at the Alvin Memorial Stadium. Jrs and Srs that would like to participate can pick up a form from outside CM 216 or B 109. $20 per participant and you must be fine free. Practices will start on February 12th.

Prom

The Alvin High School Senior Class Officers of 2018 are proud to announce the details for Prom. The theme this year is "Midnight in Morocco." Prom will be held on April 7th, 2018, from 8pm-midnight, at the Galveston Convention Center. Tickets will go on sale February 28th and will be $50 each. All AHS Jrs and Srs are invited. You may bring a NON-Alvin High School date between the ages of 14-20. You must fill out a NON-AHS date form and submit the completed form at the time of ticket purchase. Students must be clear of all fines before they may purchase a prom ticket. If you have questions please see Ms. Flores in CM 216.

Senior Wall of Honor Pictures

SENIORS!!! Come join the ‘Wall of Honor’. Let us know where you are going to school next year. Whether it is a university, college, tech school or one of the armed forces. If you have an "ACCEPTED" banner from the university or college you are going to attend...bring that for your picture or wear a t-shirt representing the University/College/Branch of Armed Forces where you are going next year. Go by B 102 and see Mrs. Joseph to have your picture taken for the Wall of Honor.

and served dinner to the school board, showcasing their program and culinary skills.

Amazing turnout at the Alvin ISD Rodeo Art Showcase! Great job to all our artists!

Congrats to Noah Bartley, selected TMEA All-State Choir for a second year in a row. Noah

placed in Texas All-State Mixed Choir. Way to go, Noah and Mrs. Holt!

Congratulations to the 19 following Alvin Band members: Tiffany Purl, Andrew Talley, Krystal Delgado, Korey Smith, Jenny Tankink, Laine Helpenstill, Emmanuel Castillo, Katherine Custer, Dylan Kappes, Jacob Gomez,

Amaru Ordoñez, Jacob Stein, Gabriel Jimenez, Wyatt Duhon, Taylor Kennedy, Aaron Brown, Alex Alberto, Rennyn Bradford, and Jake Wendorf. They performed with the TMEA Region 17 Band Wind Symphony,

Symphonic Band, and Area Wind Ensemble under the batons of Dana Pradervand, Scott Coulson, and William Owens!!!!

Jake Wendorf, Senior Euphonium, placed 1st Chair in Area H and was named a member of the 6A Texas All-State Band!!!

Congratulations to our AHS DECA Chapter!! Their Learn and Earn project, the Teacher Lip Sync Battle, has qualified for State CDC Competition. We are very proud of Patrick Chhuoey and Madeline Frederick

who did as awesome job creating and presenting our project at District competition this weekend as well as all our members who put in long hours and hard work to make it happen. Katie Collins, Joselin Burgos Pedraza, Jennifer Tankink, Rocio Garcia, Edna Burgos Valdez, Merari Castillo, Ryan Mendoza, Diego

Reyes, and Ciara Jiminez.

Congratulations to the AHS Academic Decathlon team who finished in 8th place at the regional meet this past weekend with a school record score of 41,470 points. Medal winners are Payton Neubauer

3rd place Speech, Atticus Simmons 3rd place Interview, Erica Gonzalez-2nd place Math, Joseph Garza-3rd place math, 3rd place Social Science, 1st place Art, Jacob Garza-3rd place Social Science, 1st Place Art, 2nd Place Science and 2nd Place Language Literature. The team has

qualified for the State Finals in San Antonio in February.

Extravaganza this past weekend.

OVERALL CHAMPIONS AT DAYTON HIGH SCHOOL!!! Congratulations to the MCJROTC program!!

The cadets placed 1st overall among 16 schools in Saturday's drill meet at Dayton High School. The male and female physical fitness teams once again defended their

championship status easily defeating their opponents and earning first place trophies. The unarmed exhibition team placed third and was led by Cadet Hanlon, while the unarmed

inspection team place second and was led by Cadet Hernandez. Awesome job on Saturday!!! MCJROTC is on it's way back to nationals!!!!
