As I look back over 2019 I can’t help but be amazed at

what God is doing. Church, we have so much to be

thankful for and yet so much still to accomplish. If we

are not careful we can let time simply slip away. What

would our church look like if we maximized our time?

No really, what could we see God do, that we might not

see, if we, (Me) decided to maximize our time.

Scripture speaks often about the wise use of time,

whether it be laying by one's crops, or "redeeming the

time." Lessons learned from the ant in Proverbs relate

to acting in a timely manner. Further, God's dealings

with His people seems to indicate that He has a time

table for accomplishing His plan in the world.

Do you often run out of day before you run out of

things which need to be accomplished? One man

suggested that we develop a "Don't Do List" rather than

a "To Do List". There are probably many items we

spend time on which are not productive and do not lead

us toward our ultimate goal.

No matter what line of work you're in, God has

provided enough time to accomplish His purpose for

you each day. Here are some practical activities to help

you "Maximize Your Time in 2020". This list is by no

means exhaustive, nor does it purport to be the best.

However, it is a start. They are in no particular order,

although 1, 3, 5, 7 and 11 should be at the top.

Maximizing 2020 could allow FBC Pearsall to have

2020 Vision as we enter in to this New Year .

1. Make sure you are prayed up and open to God's

leadership in your life.

2. Purpose to organize your time for maximum

efficiency.

3. Allow for God's Divine intervention in your affairs.

(Sometimes God sends people and events into our lives,

which we simply did not expect. Determine if they are

from God or the enemy who seeks to keep you

overwhelmed with activities.)

4. Realize that "Maximizing your Time" is really

personal management, life management, and it affects

everything you do.

5. Ask God, who has made a covenant with you (Heb.

8:10), to give you the desire to organize your life in

such a way as to be a more effective instrument for His

glory.

6. Understand that such an undertaking requires practice

and more practice until it becomes a way of life.

7. Determine God's goals for your life today, this week,

this month, this year.

8. Examine your schedule to ascertain if your activities

are moving you toward those goals God has given you.

(Should they not, adjust your activities).

9. A terrible waste of time is to do something well,

which need not have been done.

10. Never allow the "Tyranny of the Urgent" to force

you to focus on unimportant matters. (Just because

something is urgent does not necessarily mean it is also

important.)

11. Finally, Trust God. He wants your life to be

productive and fulfilling. When you lie down at night,

you should feel that you've accomplished God's plan for

your life that day.

Happy New Years!! What a year

2019 has been. To look back at this

year gets me excited for what is to

come. God has continued to teach

me that He is always in control. I hope your

Christmas, and New Years have been awesome. I

know this time can be stressful for some, and maybe

restful for others. Either way I hope we have

celebrated and remembered why we celebrate

Christmas. It is a time of year that so many can get

so busy with decorating, shopping, cooking, or even

continuing family traditions, that we forget why we

celebrate. On Wednesdays we have been in a series

of The Problem with Christmas, and it highlights

how Christmas has become more about traditions

than Jesus. With this series we were all challenged

to look at Christmas as the shepherds that went to

Bethlehem and saw Jesus. In Luke 2:8-20 we read

that an angel appeared to these shepherds and told

them that Jesus was being born, and they went to go

see it for themselves. It says that when they saw for

themselves, they were full of joy and started

spreading it. “They were glorifying and praising

God for all the things they had heard and seen.”

When I read this, I immediately

thought to myself that is how

we should be not only everyday

of our lives, but the Christmas

seasons. For us to call ourselves

Christians, who know and have

seen Jesus work in our lives, we

should be wanting to “re-gift”

what we have been given to

everyone we encounter. I hope and pray we can be

like the shepherds and glorify and give praise to

God, and tell others about what we have witnessed.

I pray that we have remembered why we celebrate

the Christmas season.

Now that it is 2020, I am so excited for what is

to come. ELEVATE was planned for February 14th-

16th, but we are having to change the dates. We will

be changing the dates to another weekend due to a

track meet that weekend. When I find a weekend

that will work, I will let y’all know. I hope the

holiday season was a good one. Allow God to speak

to you and continue to be guided by Him.

With Love,

Cody Kitchen
