event, SHS key club helped out the

Marines in packaging, and wrapping

new unused toys for under-priviledged

children for Christmas.

January 2011: Our members attended

a park revitalization. Where many of

us were planting new trees, plants, and

trimming the rose plants.

Quick Reminder

hosting the Recycling Project in Mrs. Laurison’s room

DCON WHAT?

Page 2

What is DCON?

DCON is short for District Convention. It was

one of the most important and fun fieldtrips of

the entire year. Think of Fall Rally North.. But

times ten. This is an opportunity to meet thou-

sands of Key Clubbers from the span of three

states, be recognized for your club's achieve-

ments, elect the 2011-2012 Executive Board,

and dance the night away at the Governor's Ball

on Saturday night. Don't miss out on the most

amazing Key Club event of the year!!! You do

not want to miss it.

What do we do?

DCON is compiled of three days. During those three days you will attend

workshops, general sessions and listening to people running for interna-

tional positions. If you are a delegate, you will be able to vote for them.

There is tons of more energy at DCON than at FRN. There are tons of

spirit battles, “How do you feels” and many, many chances to make new

friends.

Day 1: Board the bus, and drive to Anaheim. Get to Anaheim, check in at

the hotel. We should have at least an hr before the first General Session

starts. The theme for the first day is spirit attire. So as D7S, we go all out

in orange. (Orange tutus, shoes, socks, hair, shirts, pants…) General ses-

sion begins and we have so many cheer offs. We’re later welcomed by our

District Governor. After general session, we should be returning to the

hotel really late.

Day 2: Business Attire Day. Go to General Session, then off to work-

shops! Learn more about each officer’s position and how to stay on top of

school work! At the end of the night however, there is a Governor’s Ball.

Day 3: Head straight over to General Session, and see the farewell of our

district Governor, as she welcomes in the new Governor and their board!

"If you guys want to meet new people, go to the Ice Breakers Workshop

where you'll be playing ice breakers with OVER 9000 people!!! Ok, maybe

it's not over 9000 but this is one place where you'll meet people from

other divisions.” —Kendrick Duong
