6.1 Special Discount by AIR India

AIR India is offering 10% Discount on Basic Fare Component to the invitees of “Dr. Ambedkar International

Mission (AIM), Japan”, travelling to participate for the unveiling ceremony of Babasaheb’s statue.

The rules and the modalities are as under:

Nara, less than one hour south of Kyoto, was

Japan's first permanent capital and remains

full of historic treasures, particularly some of

the country's oldest temples. While half a day is

enough to cover just Todaiji Temple and

surroundings, a full day is recommended to

better appreciate central Nara. Two days are

needed to also cover the attractions outside of

central Nara, such asHoryuji.

11 Does and Don’ts in JAPAN After reading and understanding the “Etiquettes” below, we can realize why Japan is called a Buddhist country. Let’s explore this reality by your own experience with this golden opportunity.

11.1 Use of Escalator:

1. Always stand on the left of Escalator if you don’t want to walk on it. 2. Do not block right side of escalator and must be kept free always for others to walk. 3. Leave on step and stand on escalator. Standing very close without leaving one step

is considered bad manners in Japan.

11.2 Smoking In Japan:

All over Japan, dedicated area for smoking defined. Never smoke in public or walking on road, expect smoking area. Make sure to cease the Cigarette and dispose properly inside smoking zone.








11.3 Buying Rail Tickets:

The Japan Rail tickets can be purchased from Ticket vending machines installed at the entrance of every station or line.

In all the machines, English guide is available. The location of button may vary from Operator to Operator and Machine Type.

Procedure:

1. Select Language 2. Follow the steps on the screen 3. Insert coins first and later Notes if required. (inserting a Note first be block the entry

of coins and machine will return the change if any) 4. Collect ticket or Recharged IC card and change.

1. 1 and 5 Yen coins cannot be used in vending machines. Check the coin before inserting.

2. In case, if assistance is required. Press call button on Machine, wait for a moment. Station clerk will arrive to assist you.

The IC cards are available in Japan, which can be used for both commuting on trains and making purchases like debit cards.

Type of IC Cards: There are variety of IC cards that can be purchased on railway station from Ticket

Vending Machines. Suica and Pasmo are the most commonly used IC cards in Japan. Pasmo or Suica can be used to purchase anything in any convenience store in Japan.

Always stand in a queue on platform behind the yellow line. Do not stand too close to anyone. When the train arrives, allow the people to get down the train first and leave a clear passage for commuters to pass. Enter train in queue, no matter how the train is crowded.
