From harpist Jeff Majors to sax player Angella Christie, this site is showing that all gospel isn't just about vocal acrobatics and pretty lyrics. It's also about the meditative mood that a guitar solo can create and the shout that one can yell when one hears a certain piano note. I love the site and look forward to seeing it expand and grow as the gospel jazz world continues to evolve and gain popularity." - Bil Carpenter, Former Writer for People Magazine and The Washington Post

JAZZ GOSPEL CENTRAL MEDIA KIT

Welcome to Jazz Gospel Central, “bringing you to where the life of new music comes together and

where the love of true music lives”. JGC e-zine’s purpose

is to reach out to the thousands of Jazz, Gospel and

Christian Jazz lovers and musicians with the latest in the

world of Gospel Jazz. The first edition of the Jazz Gospel

Central e-zine, with full story content displayed on the

JazzGospelCentral.com website, debuted on October 1,

2008 and immediately drew the heartwarming support of

many music lovers everywhere. Terrence Richburg, the

head of RichEscape Music, home of Praise and Worship

leader, Terrell Hunt, aims to give the often overlooked

genre of Gospel Jazz some well-deserved attention.

Recent editions of JGC featured articles and interviews

with inspirational harpist Jeff Majors, best-selling Gospel Jazz pioneer Ben Tankard, mega-

talented saxophonist Angella Christie, and Jazz/Gospel Jazz superstar Kirk Whalum, along with

many other articles of interest to lovers of Jazz, Gospel music and Jazz artists who are also

Christians. In each JGC edition there is always something fresh and new to capture the attention

of current and soon-to-be subscribers. Readers get the scoop on major label and independent

artists, the latest project releases, upcoming events, and special features and articles which attract

the dedicated interests of music fans, musicians and artists across genre lines. The bi-monthly e-

zine along with its base website, JazzGospelCentral.com, highlights favorable venue opportunities

for inspirational Jazz artists and ultimately provides a place where like artists and fans can meet,

connect, fellowship and even make music together.

Richburg says, “Jazz Gospel Central or JGC is about creating and providing an online venue, a

meeting place and an atmosphere where there is a true voice and advocate for those gifted artists

who are spiritually based and expressive of their musical gift—a gift which tends to be a little

different from what is currently in the popular mainstream. Jazz Gospel Central or JGC is for

those who can appreciate true music born out of the heart of musicians and singers seeking to

express real musicianship and artistic tastes in Jazz and Gospel flavors.”

Gospel Jazz artist, Terrence Richburg is known in musical circles as a bassist’s bassist. Hailed by

GRAMMY, Dove & Stellar Award winning producer Steven Ford as “one of gospel music’s best kept

secrets,” Richburg has ministered and played with several household names including Aretha

Franklin, The Winans, Jennifer Holliday, Richard Smallwood & Vision, Maurette Brown Clark,

Marcus Johnson, John Stoddart, Bobby Lyle, Nick Colionne, Marcus Mitchell, Alyson

Williams, Yolanda Adams, Tramaine Hawkins, Walter Hawkins and many others. Being the

nephew of the late Jazz legend Ronnie Wells and son of Gospel pioneers John & Wilhelmina

Richburg, who made up the Atlantic recording artists The Richburg Singers, Terrence is walking

in his destiny. An accomplished and well-known musician, producer, arranger and songwriter,

Richburg is taking his love of the Gospel Jazz genre and turning it into an e-zine and website aimed

at impacting today’s culture and transforming the very character of contemporary popular music.

Richburg says, “From my upbringing I have always felt a very strong connection and commitment

to both Jazz and Gospel music which have been around for a very long time--both being profoundly

rooted in the rich heritage of the African-American experience. I want Jazz Gospel Central to be the

place where current and would-be fans can come to meet the performers and writers, get to know

the music, and apprehend the blessing of this God-given experience”.
