  • Comping ExamplesWhen compi ng, pianists, vibraphonists , and guitarists emp loy a myriad of rhythms . The following exam ples illus-trate some useful comping rhythms in both swing and Latin contex ts. They should be practiced at a steady tempoand combined in vario us ways. Practice with a metronome is recommended. In traditional jaz z swing situat ions(this does not apply to Latin jazz ), do not repeat rhythmic patterns as you might when establishing a groove inrock, R&B, or other styles.
