Powell Mrs. C. Spence Principal Administrative Assistant PARENT APPRECIATION TEA A parent luncheon will be held on Friday, April 21, to thank all the parents who have volunteered in the school over the year and all those who have done so much to support their children and our staff. Lunch will be served, starting at noon. Please call Mrs. Spence in the office or email [email protected] if you plan to attend so we can be sure to have enough food. QUILCHENA’S GOT TALENT At 1:00 on Friday the 21st we will have our Talent Show. We have so many talented children at Quilchena and this is their chance to showcase their passions and abilities. Singing, dancing, instrument playing and a few novelty acts. We hope everyone can come and enjoy. TALENT SHOW AUDITIONS Auditions for the Quilchena Talent show are this week on Wednesday, April 5 and Friday, April 7 at lunchtime. Students need to sign up by the office if they wish to audition. If they are singing or dancing, they should bring their music (hopefully a Karaoke version if they’re singing) in CD, iPod or memory card format. Instrumentalists should bring their instrument (except pianoJ) and their music and other performers should bring any props they need. Their performances should be no more than 2 ½ minutes in length and lyrics should be school appropriate. TRACK AND FIELD Our Track and Field day is set for Tuesday, May 2. We need all Cyclones to do a sun dance so we’ll have good weather on that day J. Our philosophy is that all students in Grades 3 – 7 who wish to participate will participate. We can only put four students per event and students are only allowed to be in four events (five on rare occasions). To participate, students must show good sportsmanship and co-operation. On track day, we will require parent drivers and parent volunteers for supervision, especially of our Grade 3s who will be attending for the first time. A permission notice will go home in the next couple of weeks. Note: Track Attack is presently ongoing for Grades 3-7. Students should come every day prepared to participate (runners, comfortable clothing, rain jacket, etc). FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT On Thursday, April 13, the PAC will be hosting a Family Movie Night. The movie presentation will be “SING”. Admission to the movie is free. Pizza can be pre-ordered (notice was sent home today) and snacks will be available for purchase. No drinks will be sold so feel free to bring a water bottle. Best seats in the house tickets will be sold prior to the event. Doors open at 6:00. The movie will begin at 6:30.
