COMMITMENT TO FAITH AND SERVICE

EXTRACURRICULAR Twenty-three clubs are offered on campus, from Ping Pong to Multicultural Club, with nearly every student being involved in at least one extracurricular activity. Enriched programs were also hosted on campus including an AT&T driving simulator, Christian concerts, visits from area business leaders, workouts with the SWAT team and Coast Guard, plus field trips to Tennessee, Florida Keys, Washington DC, and elsewhere. An increase in school spirit was evident with new activities including Dancing with the Rams, a dodge ball tournament, pep rallies, plus fun at Homecoming, Spirit Week, Prom, etc.

ALUMNI A formal Alumni Association was recently established, which will offer monthly networking breakfasts, an inclusive reunion party in the summer, an alumni business directory, and special events at homecoming. All JCHS graduates are automatically members of the association, including the class of 2013, which has graduates attending colleges and universities throughout the US, including numerous Ivy League schools.

PHILANTHROPY OPTIONS 2012-2013 HIGHLIGHTSACADEMICS A total of 16 Advanced Placement classes were offered at JCHS, with numerous students earning AP Scholar Awards, in addition to excelling in Dual Enrollment and honors level classes. The JCHS SAT, PSAT, and ACT scores continued to be higher than the local, state, and national averages, with the majority of graduates earning Bright Futures and thousands of dollars being earned in college scholarships, as all students continue to obtain degrees. Smaller class sizes also allowed numerous hands-on curriculum lessons including creating a hydroponic garden, dissecting numerous specimens, creating and launching rockets, and having live birds, fish, a tortoise, and a shark in class.

ARTS JCHS students enjoyed success through its art department with recognition county-wide, in addition to earning numerous International Thespian Society awards, including District Champions. The band program continues to grow, and several musicians earned Florida Bandmasters Association recognitions this year.

TECHNOLOGY Thanks to numerous generous donors, John Carroll will be the only school in the area to give every student and teacher an iPad 4 to use as a teaching tool. Each classroom will also feature a 60” flat screen TV, which will allow students to show work from their iPad on the screen.

ATHLETICS The 22 Golden Rams athletic teams excelled this year! Nearly every sport was nominated for the FHSAA Academic Team Championship Program, with District Champions in softball, volleyball, boys’ track, and baseball, in addition to numerous individual Regional participants, District winners, and State competitors. This year the weight room was renovated, the track was refurbished, on-campus batting cages were added, students utilized the new speed-track system, and 12 seniors signed to play sports in college.
