Coaching Philosophy
Objectives for 2020 season
Master the fundamentals
—Building fundamental skills is the most important part of being a great lacrosse player
Learn from mistakes
—Mistakes are an integral part of the learning process. I don’t expect perfection, but I
do expect players to listen to feedback and learn from it.

TEAM INFO| Tryouts
• Monday, March 30-Wednesday, April 1st
• Goal is to field three teams: Varsity, JV and B Squad
• Girls lacrosse is a no-cut sport
• Scrimmage day for Varsity and JV to start season (times TBD)
TEAM INFO| SeasonPRACTICES
• Regular team practices start early April
• B Squad & JV practice• 4:00-5:30 pm at Olson grass field
• Varsity practice• 5:00-7:00 pm at JHS Turf
• Monday-Friday (unless game) and some Saturdays (Varsity)
GAMES
• 2-3 games per week
• Buses for away games except Kennedy
• Schedule on MetroWest website
• Schedule subject to change

BOOSTER CLUB | What We Do
• Volunteer time, talent and resources to benefit the program
• Lead and manage fundraising initiatives for program-related needs
• Manage communications for the team
• Design, print and distribute team promotional items
• Work closely with the head coach to enhance program
BOOSTER CLUB | What We Don’t Do
• Discuss or provide performance reviews or evaluations of coaches
• Address playing time or placement issues of players
• Withhold funding of the program to control coaches
• Plan off-season programs without consent of head coach

BOOSTER CLUB | Fees and Payments
Online registration starting in 2020
FALL - $100 - due at registration
• Non-refundable, payment due with online registration • Player account must have a $0 balance (or credit balance) to be eligible to
participate in off-season training
SPRING - $250 - due Feb 15
• Non-refundable, automatic payment set up during online registration• Player account must have a $0 balance (or credit balance) to receive practice
clothing and attend the year-end banquet for no additional cost
• Additional charges and credits reflected in player accounts
BOOSTER CLUB | Player Statement
• Each player receives a quarterly statementvia email
• Includes all charges – Booster Club fees, banquet tickets, etc.
• Includes all credits – Payments of any kind, Scrip rebates, etc.
• Balance due upon receipt:

• JHS Activity Fee• $165 fee due in March: reminder will go out
• Not related to the lacrosse Booster Club Fee
• Online registration for all Jefferson activities (fee collected then)
• These fees are used by the school district to fund transportation, head coaching fees, facility venues, equipment, etc.
• None of this fee is given to the Booster Club
• US Lacrosse Fee• $35 Annual Membership (15-18), $30 (U15)
• Must be paid before the first Winter League game on Monday, January 7.
• Required by Winter League organizers
• Required by Savage Sports Dome management

DINE OUT AND EARN $ FOR YOUR TEAM
• 2-3 fundraiser nights in/around season
• Percentage of every participating bill goes directly to girls program
• Participation driven by Peach Jar, social media and word-of-mouth
• Watch for information in 2020

• All items are secured and donated by lacrosse families and businesses

RECRUITING| New Player Night at Winter Practice
• One night will be for new recruits• Girls will be encouraged to bring a friend
to try LAX• Booster Club will be paying for insurance
coverage for all new players• Equipment will be provided for girls to use• More info to come!

• Mid June
• Lead by the coach and players (9th-12th)
• Held at Jefferson Turf
• Open to new and advanced players ages K– 8th
• Plenty of games and fun!

WHAT IS SCRIP?
• Individual fundraising program to help offset Booster Club fees
• Buy “credit” cards (physical/electronic) at face value from over 700 different retailers
• Booster Club receives rebate between 3-15%
• Rebate goes into player’s account as a credit
• Instructions for getting started are on the website.

WHY WE DO IT
• Girls lacrosse in Minnesota has become an ultra competitive sport
• MSHSL – better athletes, better skills, better decision-making• 2016 NCAA D1 = 7, D2 = 25, D3 = 13; Total = 45• 2007 NCAA D1 = 4, D2 = 3, D3 = 4; Total = 11
• Helps bring new players up to speed faster
• Allows for real lacrosse experiences with regulation balls
• Centralized/managed development plan provides coaching staff and players with a running start

WINTER LEAGUE
WINTER LEAGUE|• Held at Holy Angels Stardome Stadium
• Sunday mornings for 6 weeks beginning in January
• Game times vary each week• 7:15am, 8:30am, 9:45am or 11:00am • Returning Varsity, then returning JV, then returning B Squad, then BYLA
and new to JHS program• Remaining players will be grouped on another team
• Competitive team, “not ideal for beginners,” but current players are highly encouraged to participate.

Booster Club will send email with link to register○ Registration through Lacrosse Connections website○ Make sure to mark JEFFERSON as your high school○ Cost from last year: with/without Lax Con pinnie (black & white reversible):
■ $160 early registration (Goalies $115)
■ $170 late registration (Goalies $115)
