The general fishing season in 'Idahoopens May 27 this year and will rununtil Novem'ber SQ. All the watersin the state not yet open will be openexcept, those that are closed to fuh-ing the entire year. Also, some sye-cies are closed at this time in someareas, such as steelhead fishing,These areas are listed in the 1972Fishing Season Regulations by area.

All anglers should check to makesure they have a 1972 fishing or fish-ing and hunting license before goingfishing. Also, pick up a copy ofthe 1972 regulations at the time youpurchase your license;: Study theseregulations to make sure your fish-ing trip will be a happy one.

Due to the filling af Dmotshakpool, there has been several changesmade in the regulations on the NorthFork of the Clearwater River for thisyear. The North Fork is closed toall fishing from its mouth upstreamto the Dmorshak Dam for all speciesof fish. This closure is for the pto-tection of steelhead coming into theNorth Fotk and the Dworshak Hat-chery area. From the Dmorjhak Damupstzeam to Thompson Creek, opento fishing May 27 to November SQ forall species of fish.. This includes theDworshak-pool area and all tributar-ies running- into the pool 'and NorthFork fram the Dam. upst team toThompson Creek, which, when thepool is filled, will be the bach~terof the Dmorshak reservoir,

Trout fishing on the North Forkand tributaries, except Kelly Creek, above Thompson Creek, is open May27 to September 10 only and a specialtrout limit of three fish is listed. This

~same stretch of river is open to whitefish and bass the entire year.

Kelly Creek and tributaries, lakeexcluded has a special fish for fun, season, where all fish caught must~be returned to the stream and baitfishing is prohibited.

The Army Corps of Engineers hasrescinded their order of no boats onDmorshak pool. However, boaters

,are encouraged to use extreme cau-ltion because of the hazardous condi-tions of debris and floating trees onthe reservoir. The reservoir will be

'stocked with eatchable rainbow troutprior to the opening of fishing seasonMay 27. These rainbow are beingplanted by the Pish and Wildlife

Ser-'viceat the Big Eddy boat ramp. The280,000 fish average about 4 lb. eachand were raised at the Dworshak Na-tional Fish Hatchery.Fishing should be fair to good in the

lower end of the Dmorshak pool. Wa-'ter in the reservoir is fairly clearfrom Elk River downstream. Abovethis point it is quite turbid.

Othe» changes from last yearsregulations is the reduction of thetrout bag limit from 15 to 10 fish. The bag and possession limit fortrout and grayling for 1972 is notmore than 7 pounds and one fish butnot to exceed 10 fish per day or keptin possession.

Another change from last year isthat there is a separate limit on ko-kanee and coho. Daily bag and orpossession limit is 25 fish. This isseparate and apart from trout thisyear. You could:catch 25 kokaneeand 10 trout a day and still not be inviolation this year.

The 4972 Idaho Fish Season andRegulations sore effective January 1to December 31, 1972, and sll datesare inclusive.

Inside the folder are the areas ofthe state and specific regulations byarea. For each area there are foursections. First is the general seasons

!

for that area, Second are listed theexceptions to the general season andregulations by area and third liststhe waters open to year-round fish-ing. Lastly, the waters closed toall fishing the entire year are listed.

As an exaynple, if an angler wantedto know when fishing season openedon any particular creek or stream hemould first locate the area on themap —the majority of the ClearwaterRegion is in Area 2. He would thenlook for the ~ster or waters by namealphabetically in the exceptions togeneral regulations. If it is not foundthere or in the waters open to year-round fishing or closed to fishingsections, it would then mean the ma-ter is open during the general fish-ing season.

If there is any doubt about an areabeing open always make sure to checkthe regulations, which may be ob-tained from any license vendor orany regional office of the Idaho Fishand Game Department. The Clear-water Region Office is located at1540 Warner Avenue, Lemiston.

17 workers were placed an Jobsduring the past week through theMoscow office of the Department.ofEmployment. 19 new jobs were ze-ceived aad at the close of the week.there were 15 oyenings. Currentlisting include cook, waitress, officeclerk, television repairman, and do-mestic workers.

The number of ye'mons. seekingemployment insurance in Latah Co.has dropped as many woods workersand construction workers return totheir jobs. During the past week,865 persons sought jobless yay. Thiscomyares to S95 last week and 294during the same week a year ago,34 new claims were filed during theweek. Moscow area residents seek-ing benefits total 13S in addition to12 in Genesee, 1S1 in the Troy-DearyBovill area; 8 in Kendrick, 75 In Pot-latch and 6 in Elk River.
