However, the average time it takes to find employment varies from field to field.

We can see from our life that searching for a job can be highly competitive.

That why we see some job seekers give up looking & remain in their current job or jump at the first offer.

A Successful job requires patience, persistence, & careful planning.

A JOB SEARCH can be defined as a systematic process, requiring personal initiative that results in securing satisfying job leads.

And this process is accomplished

in 3 steps as we will see.

The 1st step required when choosing a career is analyzing your self . The process of knowing your self is not an easy one.

It requires more than an awareness of your vital statistics.

This self analyzing includes thinking about what you want out of life (Goals), what’s important to you (Values), what you enjoy doing (Interests), & what abilities you have (Skills & Achievements)..

After understanding your self, you can begin to investigate your careers which is the 2nd component for a JOB SEARCH.

When investigating a career, consider the type of work, the job outlook, the training, the salary, benefits, & working conditions in your area & around the country.

Finding the right job in today’s economycan challenge the most talented & skilled workers.

You would probably start looking for leadsby checking the advertisements,the Internet, attending auto shows,visiting dealers, asking friends & family…. etc.

In today's fast moving and competitive world of recruitment,

creating an effective job CV can often mean the difference

between success and failure.

It can take time and a great deal of effort to produce

something which sells your skills and abilities in an

inspiring way and gets you the interview within 2 pages.

By following a few simple rules and advice, you can

maximize your chances and stand out from the other

applicants.

Rule # 1 : Get inside the HR departments head.

Rule # 2 : Think about how your CV will get through the initial stage.

Rule # 3 : Clearly define the headings for your CV.

Rule # 4 : Make it easy for them.

Put simply they don't have the time to read the CV that ismore than two pages and all the relevant information ishidden in long paragraphs.Fancy formatting, colored text or multiple fonts do notimpress.

They ask themselves, Is this person trying to hidesomething? Are he trying to cover for their lack ofexperience for the job behind a flashy CV?Are there spelling mistakes or poor punctuation?This person is just sloppy!

2) Think about how your CV will get through the initial stage

Make sure your CV is concise and to the point.

They need to see your experience, skills and achievements in the

first half a minute.

They know what they want and you have what they want so why distract them by adding in lots of unnecessary information.

Simple is best. Plain formatting, properly laid out under clear headings.

The recruiter will want to see what you have done, when you did it, and where you did it.

Fancy formatting will make your CV more difficult to read.

Don't make a CV stand out for the wrong reasons.

Make sure that you keep checking your spelling, punctuation and grammar.

It is the first step in your personal presentation to an employer, it says a lot about you.

This is the list of headings that you should include on your CV:

• Contact details. • Personal details.• Interests Profile.• Work experience or Career history.• Education.• Skills.

Remember, They have very little time and they don't know you yet.

They are only interested in What you can offer the

company .

How to Write Your CV ???

A winning CV has three objectives :

To illustrate your strengths. To maximize your chances of getting through to

interview. and To put factual information, such as dates, places,

names together in a presentable and readable form.

The headings:

Name: Print your name in Bold type at the centre top of your

CV.

Address : Top left of CV. Full address including post code.

Telephone :Top Right of CV. Full dialing code.


Date of birth

Put in full such as 13th December 1962. Do not put your age.

Marital status

You do not have to include this at all. If you choose to, make sure you use only “married” or “single”. Do not use divorced.

Put at the end of the CV under ‘Personal’


Children

Its up to you whether you include this information or not but if you include it put it at the end of the CV under ‘Personal’

Profile

This is an introductory statement about who you are and what you have to offer.


Skills

Several Key skills should be highlighted after you have analyzed and edited your employment history.

Employment History

Always start with your most recent employment. Break down your job functions as much as possible. The job description on your contract might provide a starting

point.


Training

Only include training that is relevant to the position for which you are applying.

Interests

Only include interests that are unusual or which indicate transferable skills, achievements or responsibilities.


Reasons For Applying

This finishes the CV off with a concluding statement and puts the application into context.

Don’t imply you are out to gain advantage to yourself such as “I would like to join the company to gain additional

experience.

or keep in touch with previous co-workers,

and clients.


Visual CV :

VisualCV is an online resume that includes all the facets of a traditional resume,

with add-ons like video,

images,

and links to your accomplishments.


3) Connect With Your Contacts

Now that you've created profiles

on networking sites, use them.

Connect with everyone you know,

because you never know

which contact may be able to help you

with your job search

or put you in touch with someone who can.


4) Use Job Search Tools..

There are a variety of widgets, gadgets,

and tools that will help expedite

your job search and manage your career.

Use them to organize your job search

and save valuable job searching time.


5) Create a List of Companies..

Do you have a list of companies you would like to work for???

It's a good idea to research company information and create a list of companies to target in your job

search. All the information you need is available on the web, and it's easy to find detailed information about potential

employers online.


6) Find Job Listings..

Check job search engine sites,

job banks, company web sites,

networking sites, niche job sites,

and sites listed by type of job.

Consider working with a recruiter

to maximize your opportunities.


7) Target Your Resume and Cover Letter..

It's important to take the time to write

When you receive a job offer, it's important to take the time to carefully evaluate the offer so you are making an educated decision to accept, or to reject, the offer. You don't have to accept a job just because it was offered to you, but do carefully evaluate it, and if you decline, do so politely.
