Away From The Manger The birth of Christ is an important Biblical event
– (Mat 1:18-2:23; Luke 1:26-2:52 ) There are important theological implications in
the incarnation! – (John 1:1,2,14; Phili 2:5-10; Gal 4:4,5; Heb 2:9-18)
We are told to remember Jesus by observing the Lord’s supper each first day of the week – (1 Cor. 11:23-26; Acts 20:7)
The scriptures do NOT instruct us by precept, example or implication to remember the birth of Jesus! – (Col. 3:17; 2Tim 3:16,17; 2 Pet 1:3; John 4:24)
Away From The Manger The scriptures do not reveal WHEN Jesus was
born! No one KNOWS WHEN Jesus was born! The religious observance when Jesus was
supposedly born was not practiced until the 4th Century A.D. – (The Catholic Church attributes its papal origin to Liberius in 354 A.D.) – Only pagan rituals were observed on December 25th prior to 325 A.D.!
To religiously Observe Christmas, (Christes Masse), is to follow human tradition which was predicated upon pagan religious practice!
Away From The Manger Because many are bound up in observing man-
made holy days they have lost sight of the truly significant principles of Christianity as revealed in the Bible.
The knowledge and understanding MANY have of Christianity has been corrupted by legends, myth and tradition which come from paganism and fairy tales –
Paul warned against returning to the observance of days, months, seasons and years – (Gal 4:9-11), and against “will worship” and the “doctrines of men” – (Col. 2:20-23)
People need to move away from the manger to understand and practice the things ordained of God!

Away From The MangerTo The Scene at the TempleJohn 2:13-17 (NKJV)
13 Now the Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14
And He found in the temple those who sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the moneychangers doing business. 15 When He had made a whip of cords, He drove
them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the
changers' money and overturned the tables.
Away From The MangerJohn 2:13-17 (NKJV)
16 And He said to those who sold doves, "Take these things away! Do not make My Father's house a house of merchandise!" 17 Then His disciples remembered that it was written, "Zeal for Your house
has eaten Me up."

Away From The MangerTo The Rebuke of the Hypocrites Wanted to be seen of men
– Mat 6:5,16 They followed the
doctrines & commandments of men – The bind were leading the blind (Mat 15:7-9, 13,14)
Demanded a sign & rejected the scriptures – (Mat 16:1-3)
Were condemned – (Mat 23)
Jesus hates sin! – (Mat 5:29,30)
Away From The MangerTo The Death, Burial &
Resurrection Jesus came to die – (John 12:27; Heb 2:9)
These are the basic facts of the gospel that must be believed – (1 Cor 15:1-6)
Our hope is in the fact that the grave was not able to hold Jesus – (1 Peter 1:21)
He has been raised to reign as Lord & King –(Acts 2:30,33-36)
Jesus gave us the “Lord’s supper” to commemorate Him - (1 Cor 11:23-26)

Commission Jesus requires that we keep His commandments – (Mat 28:18-20; Mat 17:5; Mark 16:15,16; Act2 :36-38; Heb 5:9)
Why is it that SO MANY preachers today DO NOT PREACH the great commission as given by Jesus?
Many know about the birth of Jesus and know nothing of the new birth – (John 3:5; Rom 6:3-6)
Away From The MangerTo The Church of Christ
Those who talk the most about the birth of Jesus – often ridicule the church He purchased with His own blood – (Acts 20:28)
Or they turn what they view as the church into a place for entertainment and socializing – (1 Cor 11:22)
Many sing “Come Let Us Adore Him” and then perpetuate the division of the church. (John 17:20)
