Post Script

• How the EU reduces inequalities.• EU member states contribute about 1% of their total

wealth to the EU budget.• The wealthiest countries make the biggest

contributions.• Over a third of the budget is then spent on regional

aid for less developed countries and regions. • As they become better off, the wealthier parts of the

EU will benefit too.

There are three types of regional aid: 1. The European development fund to improve investment and infrastructure 2. The social fund to pay for education, training and job creation 3. Cohesion fund, to improve the environment, transport and renewable energy.
