JOINT STATEMENT ON THE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION IN KENYA His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta today held discussions with UK High Commissioner Christian Turner, Swiss Ambassador Jacques Pitteloud and officials of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission. All parties agreed on the continued importance of tackling corruption in order to attract investment, tackle insecurity, and to ensure that the benefits of economic growth are shared amongst all Kenyans. President Kenyatta stressed once more that attempts to derail the anti- corruption campaign would not succeed. The High Commissioner of the United Kingdom and the Ambassador of Switzerland, on behalf of their respective governments, welcomed the recent statements and actions of Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on the long- standing problem of corruption and acknowledged the recent steps of the Kenyan government, notably the charges and arrests in the Anglo Leasing scandal and the moves to address the institutional capacity constraints of the EACC. They pledged their continued support for the President, Government of Kenya and EACC in these efforts, and committed to sustain vital assistance that would ensure that the perpetrators of corruption are held to account and brought to justice. JOINT STATEMENT ON THE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION IN KENYA
