The Scrap Recycling Industry is committed to partnering with law enforcement to help erradicate these crimes. Gary Bush, ISRI* Director of Material Theft Prevention and National Law Enforcement Liaison, will conduct a workshop entitled Partnering with ScrapTheftAlert.com during the ISRI Gulf Coast Chapter Summer Convention. The presentation will introduce ScrapTheftAlert.com, the Scrap Recycling Industry’s Neighborhood Watch. This tool gives Law Enforcement the ability to share stolen material information with recycling facilities, fellow law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders. Sergeant Cathy Fitzgerald from Jackson, Michigan, Sergeant Mike McGinty from Houston, Texas and Lieutenant Robert Pack from Ocala, Florida will be joining Mr. Bush to present this four-person, multi-dimensional presentation. The workshop will be held at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott in The Woodlands, Texas on Friday, June 25th, 2010, from 10:45AM - 12:30PM. The presentation is free to all interested law enforcement personnel and will be followed by a complimentary lunch. Gary Bush has been in Law Enforcement for approximately 33 years, including the Army MP and Police and Sheriff’s Departments in Florida. He has served as Patrol Officer, Patrol Sergeant, Detective in Property Crimes and Major Crimes and has served as liaison between the Sheriff’s Office and local recyclers while investigating metal thefts. * ISRI, the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, is the non-profit trade association of the scrap processing and recycling industry, representing more than 1,350 private, for-profit companies that process, broker and industrially consume scrap commodities including metals, paper, plastics, glass, rubber and textiles. Suppliers of equipment and services to the industry complete ISRI's membership.

Materials theft has become a serious problem across the country. The Scrap Recycling Industry is committed to partnering with

law enforcement to help erradicate these crimes.
