An accurate weight is also important for proper dos-

ing of medication plus your clients like to know their

Walk-On Platform Scale

Clients love to weigh their pets on this walk-on scale. Special software will cap-

Portable Digital Scale

This scale is particularly suited to the veterinary industry. With a capacity of 44

lb (20 kg) and readability of 1/2 oz (10g), the scale will accurately weigh infants

or small animals. The scale has a ”Hold” feature that will capture an unstable

weight and keep it on the display for recording after the weight is taken off. The

scale is offered in two models and can operate on battery (single 9VDC) or AC

(adapter included). The scale comes with a stainless steel weighing tray.

MB spinal BraceMany cases of disc disease, spinal fractures or instabilities are not amenable to surgical treatment for a

variety of reasons, from the right patient signalment (i.e. age, underlying diseases) to economic consid-

erations. The” MB Spinal Brace” (MBSB) is designed to help support cases of cervical, thoracic and

lumbar IVDD, vertebral fractures or instabilities. The durable and comfortable neoprene

harnesses encircle the patient at the desired locations and are connected by two parallel

adjustable metal rods that lay on the lateral aspects of the chest, abdomen or neck depend-

ing on particular area being treated. The MBSB supports and restricts the range of motion

of the patient in several planes giving the body a better chance of healing. The expandable

metal connection rods can be placed in a neutral position strictly for support, or extended

to apply minimal to moderate decompressive forces on the spine. These back braces are

commonly used in the human medical field and now they are available for veterinary use.

Several indications for use include:

• Medical IVDD treatment (support and decompression)

• Medical spinal fracture treatment

• Medical spinal instability treatment (i.e. Wobblers)

• Pre and post-surgical spine support

Delaware Valley Golden Retriever RescueDelaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue provides new beginnings for displaced Golden Retrievers. Golden

Gateway New beginnings start at our Half-way Home where Goldens receive physical and emotional evalua-

tion, training fundamentals, socialization and exercise with volunteers in a loving and stimulating environment.

Darwin, the puppy mill puppy (about six months young when he entered our program) who had severely dam-

aged legs from living in the cage. His corrective surgery involved breaking both bones, plating and casting him

for 8 weeks. He went from cast, to splint to removal of all devices. We’ve been using the laser to help provide

pain relief because his tendons and muscles are still sensitive. Again, the results are remarkable.

We are treating skin conditions, arthritis, hip dysplasia, post-op surgery site therapy and ear conditions (which

seem almost to be “breed standard” in Golden Retrievers.

The benefit we all see with the Jorvet laser is the ease of operation as well as all the safety features built in. Staff

can start therapy within seconds of activating the unit and the sequence timing is very helpful when one has to

keep focus on the dog.

Perhaps the biggest testament to the efficacy of the Jorvet Laser would be the Goldens themselves. As soon as

their kennel lead is attached by Marie, they know where they’re going and they almost pull her to our on-site

BARK Hospital, enter and “assume the position” , ready for treatment. You wouldn’t believe it unless you saw

it with your own eyes.

Numerous recent university studies by CAPC have shown standard passive fecal flotation systems

yield substantially less diagnostic ova than using a swing out centrifuge. The Squeeze Test was
