Mugs of the Quarter

Jonathan has been working for the Facilities Transportation team as a mechanic for three years. During these years, Jonathan has had the opportunity to be part of the teamwork that is well known around campus. One of Jonathan’s favorite things about working at ISU is being able to help others as a team. Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys all outdoor activities, especially skeet shooting. While

enjoying the great outdoors, Jonathan likes to look for bald eagles, his favorite animal. He recalls his favorite vacation being a trip to Florida. He also enjoys watching older action movies.

Paul has worked in Facilities as a Custodian for eight months. He has really enjoyed getting to know and work with his coworkers. In his free time, Paul enjoys wakeboarding and spending time with his family. His favorite vacation was a trip to Florida where he visited Sea World and Epcot. He also spent a lot of time enjoying the Florida beaches. The Lord of the Rings series by J.R.R Tolkien are a favorite read of Paul’s, with his favorite being Fellowship of the Ring. Paul enjoys watching movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His favorite Marvel superhero is the famous Spider-Man.

Josh has been working at ISU as a Custodian for six months. In this short time, he has realized how much he enjoys interacting with his customers. One of his favorite hobbies includes building structures out of Legos. He also enjoys watching TV. His favorites are the Stargate TV series and the original Star Wars Trilogy. If you are looking for a good

book to read, Josh highly recommends False Memory by Dean Koontz. One of Josh’s favorite memories is the time he went camping in Lake Walla Walla in Oregon.

2019 - Q1

Brad works in the M&O department as a Locksmith. He started working for M&O on February 12, 2018. He is surprised that he will have been at Idaho State University for a year this February. He has enjoyed working for Facilities, and said that his favorite part about working here is interacting with co-workers and the university members. He commented that everyone at ISU is extremely nice and good to work

with. Brad enjoys playing video games, and watching movies and television shows. His favorite television show is Game of Thrones, and he has seen all seven seasons. He is looking forward to the final season coming out this year. Brad’s favorite food is pepperoni pizza. Brad is not picky when it comes to pizza, and enjoys trying pizza from many different places around town.

Tyler has been a Custodian at ISU for the past five years. In this time, he has really enjoyed the sense of community shown across the ISU campus. When asked about his favorite food, he replied, “Pizza is always good.” In addition to eating pizza, Tyler’s pasttimes include

Jayson has worked as a Custodian in Facilities for six years. He appreciates having ownership of his duties and assignments at work. Several of Jayson’s favorite outdoor activities include mountain biking, hiking, camping, and snowboarding. He also enjoys reading. His favorite books are the Mistborn series written by his favorite author, Brandon Sanderson.

When it comes to television entertainment, Jayson likes the movie, Inside Llewyn Davis, and the TV series The Detective, Season 1.

Richard Strandy - Custodial Richard has worked at ISU as one of our Custodians for over 25 years. He enjoys taking long drives, listening to music, watching TV, and spending time with his cat, Jasmine. He also likes reading books written by his favorite author, Stephen King. One of Richard’s passions is learning about history, namely wars. He learns more about this by watching war movies and reading history books about WWII. Richard’s favorite vacation was a trip to Boise for his son’s graduation from BSU.

Craig has been a Custodian at ISU for nine years. He enjoys working with his customers and for his manager. Craig enjoys many activities in his free time including playing guitar, hiking, and just being in nature in general. He also loves hunting for a good book to read. His favorite book is The Grapes of Wrath written by John Steinbeck, one of his favorite authors. His other favorite author is Samuel Clemens. Some other past times of Craig’s include eating Korean Cuisine and watching the TV show, Democracy Now.

Carrie has worked at ISU as a Custodian for the last three years. She appreciates the tuition reduction she receives to be able to continue her education while working here. Carrie loves reading! When asked about a favorite author or book, she replied “Just too many to choose! I read so

many genres and different things.” She also enjoys expanding her knowledge by watching historical documentaries. Carrie enjoys spending time with her family and her pet gecko. Some of her favorite memories are from her family vacation to Lake Michigan.

Madalynn Schmidt - Custodial Madalynn has been part of the Facilities Custodial team for over a year now. In this time, she has enjoyed working in her buildings and getting to know the campus. Outside of work, Madalynn enjoys reading and writing. Her favorite book series is the Mortal Instruments. Her favorite author, Cassandra Clare, wrote this series. She also enjoys watching Stargate.

Henry has worked for the Custodial department for five years, and has loved the camaraderie of his fellow employees working within Facilities. In his free time, Henry enjoys playing video games and watching Anime. His favorite Anime is the My Hero Academia series. He also enjoys graphic novels in a similar fashion as Anime, known as Manga; his favorite being the Attack on Titan series. When asked about a favorite author, Henry replied, “Suzanne Collins (author of the Hunger Games trilogy) was the last author to really draw me in.” Henry likes all kinds of food, but his favorite foods are pizza, Italian sandwiches, and Klondike bars. He enjoys checking out new restaurants when he gets a chance.
