PATTI SUSMAN, Youth Theatre Director - Patti Susman has a degree in Dramatic Arts from Cleveland State University and has directed over 70 productions at Fairmount Center for the Arts. She has also taught dance, gymnastics and even art! Patti welcomes students of all abilities and experience level to the Youth Theatre Program! Come grow on stage with Fairmount Youth Theatre!

We will start our form over a real pumpkin using the traditional paper Mache technique. Learn the basics of Zentangle, an art form that offers a creative release for all, since “Anyone can Tangle.” All supplies included.

Visual ArtsFairmount Visual Arts Come art! Fairmount offers small class sizes, professional instruction, multi-mediums and a studio-based environment providing all ages the ability to create. Each session offers new projects. Materials included in session fee unless otherwise noted.

BRIGITTE FIORILLE, Program Director, Art Director, Ceramics & Children’s Art Instructor -In 2006, Brigitte began teaching ceramics and children’s art at Fairmount. Brigitte’s involvement with Fairmount has since grown into roles as an instructor in ceramics and children’s art, and Program Director. She notes that she has had ‘art in her life’ since her early childhood and ‘cherishes the opportunity to work with children in art.’ Brigitte received her BFA in ceramics at Kent State University with additional studies in education and business. Her belief in teaching art is based in the exploration of materials, craftsmanship, and development of the creative process.

“Pteridomania,” or the Victorian “Fern Fever”, inspired fern-flavored botanical artwork from the 1850s-1890s. Elegant fiddleheads and fronds were fashionable motifs for pottery, prints, benches, and more. Let’s create our own “ferntastic” art through fern-printing on watercolor greeting cards.

Fairmount School of Dance

Fairmount School of Dance (FD) provides classical dance training in a noncompetitive environment for ages 5-18. FD offers a progressive and cohesive curriculum in Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz and Tap techniques with two performance opportunities each year. FD classes are open to all young dancers regardless of experience; students new to the program will be reviewed for level placement. Privates can be arranged to develop technique per level. Students will spend one year in levels I-II, and approximately two years in levels III-VI before advancing to the next level. FD students are expected to adhere to a professional attendance policy and dress code.

• All FD students are REQUIRED to attend ballet technique class.• Levels I, II & III Ballet classes meet once per week with additional classes optional and performance rehearsals scheduled on class day.• Levels IV, V, VI & VII Ballet classes meet twice per week and are required to take an (minimum one) additional style of dance. MARIANA PEREZ, Fairmount School of Dance Director - Mariana Pérez started dancing at the age of four following the Royal Academy of Dance Curriculum, which she concluded including the Solo Seal Award. In 2013 she moved to New York City to continue her training at the Joffrey Ballet School. After two years as a trainee, she was invited to join the school’s performance group, where she was given the opportunity to perform nationally and internationally. In 2017, she joined Verb Ballets in Cleveland, Ohio and danced with them in the 2017-2018 season. Mariana has performed soloist and principal roles in ballets such as Swan Lake, Spring Waters, Suite Saint-Saens, The Nutcracker and others. She has worked choreographers including Gabrielle Lamb, Desmond Richardson, Tyler Gilstrap, and Tommie Waheed.

Among the distinguished guest artists who have worked with the company are Maria Alba, La Conja, Ulrika Frank, José Greco, Nana Lorca, Ethan Margolis, Teodoro Morca, Cihtli Ocampo, Ilisa Rosal, Carlota Sanata, and Marija Temo.

Recreational Dance is available to students of all ages who enjoy the opportunity to engage in various styles of dance. Classes are offered to provide for various skill levels and are taught by Fairmount Faculty in a caring, welcoming and noncompetitive environment.

Adult Dance CardsAfrican Dance, Ballet, Tap, Spanish Dance, Zumba, & Yoga Dance cards offer ten hours of classes for $150 that can be used in Dance Card eligible classes as a convenience for the ADULT to attend class at a varied schedule. Purchase your dance card through the office at Fairmount. Dance cards purchased expire for the Fall & Spring session expire August 31, 2020. Dance cards are only available to adult students (high school graduate or 18 years or older). Once card is purchased, card balance is non-refundable.

FREDRICK MOODIE, Kinderdance & Tap Instructor - Fredrick Moodie has been part of the Fairmount family of instructors for many years. Starting in the Theatre Program teaching Theatre Tap Dance, his schedule quickly grew to include Beginning and Intermediate Dance classes for children and adults. MUSIC LESSONSLove music? Fairmount Center for the Arts offers private (one on one) lessons in voice, piano, viola, guitar, ukulele and saxophone. Lessons are designed for children ages 5 years old and up (age varies by instrument), and are offered for the novice through advanced player.

Music lessons are offered for 16-week sessions in Fall and Winter/Spring sessions along

with a 6 week Summer schedule. Modifications to the music lesson schedule must be approved by Fairmount Music Faculty prior to registration.

Payment is due at the time of registration (payment plan available) and may be made via credit card, check, or cash. Make-up lessons for student absences are at the discretion of the instructor but are not required. Notification of inability to attend a lesson is a courtesy to the instructor and may be communicated directly to the instructor or to Fairmount at (440) 338-3171. Make-up lessons for FCA or Instructor cancellations will be scheduled with in the makeup week or per instructor.

Current music students have priority registration for the next session. Fall 2019 students have thru 12/21/19 to register for Winter/Spring to retain Fall 2019 day/time lesson. After 1/1/2020, studio schedules are open to any registrations. Due to the varying schedule of each instructor, please contact the business office at Fairmount at (440) 338-3171 to schedule music instruction.

Bush is also an avid marching percussionist, having marched multiple years at the University of Alabama and as a member of Teal Sound Drum and Bugle Corps.

Mr. Rangel has been studying guitar for over 18 years and is currently a professional musician who performs regularly in the Greater Cleveland Area. Rangel studied at Tri-C Metro and Cleveland State University where he received his BM, with an emphasis in Jazz performance. Rangel performs and teaches a wide range of musical genres including Pop, Rock, Jazz, Blues, Funk, and Motown.

Mr. Berlin holds a BM from Indiana School of Music and a MBA from CWRU Weatherhead School of Management. Mr. Berlin teaches violin and viola to students ages 5 and up in both traditional and Suzuki methods.

By registering for programs at Fairmount Center for the Arts, I am agreeing to the following policies:• Programs must be paid in full at time of registration.• An early registration discount of 5% is offered for registrations and payments made in full for the session by August 16, 2019. The early registration discount of 5% may be applied to every class/lesson which no other discount/scholarship/work discount has been applied.

• Tuition is not refunded or pro-rated for missed classes. Make-up classes are offered for instructor cancellations and closings due to weather and holidays. • All students are encouraged to notify their instructors of a class absence by calling the office as a courtesy to the instructor. • Fairmount reserves the right to cancel any class due to insufficient enrollment. A complete refund will be made by check within 14 days of cancellation or account credit.

• In the event that Fairmount Center for the Arts needs to close due to weather or other circumstance, information will be found on Fairmount’s voicemail, on the homepage of website (fairmountcenter.org) and on our Facebook page.

• No refunds for tuitions after class/lesson start. In circumstance of requested withdrawal, a credit (valid for one year) will be applied to account. • By registering, you are agreeing to allow Fairmount Center for the Arts the right to use your or your child’s photograph or image for publicity and marketing purposes. Policies:• Classes must be paid in full whether taken or missed. Notification of inability to attend a class is a courtesy to the teacher; however, we cannot excuse you from payment for a class for which you have contracted when you register.

• Make-up classes are offered for instructor cancellations or school closings. Student absences are made up at the discretion of the instructor. All students are encouraged to notify their instructors of a class absence by calling the Center at (440) 338-3171. Tuition is not refunded or pro-rated for missed classes.

• The staff reserves the right to cancel any class due to insufficient enrollment. If a class is cancelled, a complete refund will be made.• Financial aid scholarships are available for children and adults in need. Forms are available upon request from the front office at FCA.• All payments for payment plan will be made by credit card.• Early registration discount not eligible for classes/lessons which the payment plan is being used.
