2.14 Significant Activities and contributions made by IQAC
Student feedback on aspects related to the quality of teaching and support services was conducted and has
actively been reviewed by IQAC. The report was forwarded to the Principal for initiating action wherever
necessary.
Innovative methods are adapted to enhance teaching-learning process.
One state-level seminar, 02 institute level workshops were organized.
IQAC motivated the faculty members to present papers in seminars and conferences.
Adequate funds are provided for purchasing new books and subscription of e- journals to the college
library.
Placement Cell activities are strengthened to provide a support to the student.
Teachers identify students who need to enhance their computer skills and refer them for training in
computer basics which is routinely conducted by the department of Computer Science.

2.15 Plan of Action by IQAC/Outcome
The plan of action chalked out by the IQAC in the beginning of the year towards quality
enhancement and the outcome achieved by the end of the year
Plan of Action Achievements
Conducting Remedial classes for slow
learners
Remedial classes were conducted to help the slow
learners. There was noticeable improvement in their
academic performance.
Conducting spoken English classes for rural
students
Spoken English classes were conducted for first year
students utilising Language lab. Aspects covered include English speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar and
accent training.
Adopting innovative teaching methods History students visited various temples located in
Nanajangud and collected the relevant information
about the temples and complied it in the form of a book titled “Temples of Nanjangud” under the guidance
of faculty members of the History department.
Under the guidance of department of Environmental
Science, BSc students of the college have undertaken the
task of identification and documentation of plants of the college campus with the help of subject experts.
Organizing seminars, workshops, special
lectures, Inter-collegiate sports and cultural events

The institution adopts the policy of ICT enabled teaching along with chalk and talk method to
make the learning process interesting and effective.
Active participation of the students is internalised in the system through seminars, assignments,
peer teaching, project work, group discussions and participation in academic competitions.
History students visited various temples located in Nanjangud and collected the relevant information about the temples and compiled it in the form of a book.
Science students carried out a project on Plant Wealth of the College Campus.
Practical knowledge on GIS is imparted to Geography students in a well-equipped computer lab.

2.12 How does IQAC Contribute/Monitor/Evaluate the Teaching & Learning processes:
The teaching plans are prepared at the department level in the beginning of each semester.
Necessary measures are taken to ensure that teaching programme sticks to the schedule.
Periodic verification of students’ attendance and teaching plan of teachers by the head of the
department and Principal has ensured smooth functioning of the teaching learning mechanism.
Obtaining regular feedback from the students enable IQAC in continuous monitoring of teacher,
teaching methodology and classroom environment.
Senior faculty in the department share some papers/ subjects with newly recruited teachers. This
provides an opportunity for the senior faculty to monitor the latter and guide them suitably.

Cleaning of college campus and surrounding area under Swatch Bharat Programme
The college and university of Mysore jointly organised National integration camp at Suttur f rom
25/02/16 to 2/3/16. Hundred and fifty NSS cadets from Tamilnadu, Kerala, Maharastra,
Gujarat, Andra Pradesh and Karnataka participated in the camp. They planted the sapling and
revived the lake in Suttur

College is affiliated to Mysore University and hence follows the curriculum designed by the university.
Many teachers of our college represent Board of Studies, Board of Examination and BoAE and
are contributing for the curriculum development.
Every department has its own academic calendar for the effective completion of the syllabus.

The college organises training programmes and computer literacy programmes for non-teaching staff.
One such programme on “Competence Building Initiatives” was conducted for non teaching staff of the
college.

The campus houses rich plant wealth comprising of lofty trees, shrubs, teeming with ornamental
plants, lush green lawn and plants of medicinal value.
The college regularly takes initiative to add to the existing bio-diversity by planting more trees.
Use of plastic materials is prohibited in the college campus.
Campus is declared as no smoking zone.

Best practices
1. Title of the Practice: Enhancement of Yoga activities
The institution fosters several innovative mechanisms to achieve academic
excellence as well as overall development of the students. In this regard the college realised the
importance of yoga education and encouraged the students to actively participate in yoga
activities.
2. Objectives of the Practice
The main objective of the practice is to make the students healthier, saner and more
integrated members of the society and of the nation. It is holistic approach to health and
wellbeing.
3. The Context
The practice of yoga offers a plethora of benefits to modern-day students. It enables
the student to have good physical and mental health, possess emotional stability and attain
higher level of consciousness. Yoga education helps in self discipline and self-control, leading to
immense amount of awareness and concentration. The institute desired to produce more Yoga
teachers who can popularise the practice of yoga across the world.
4. The Practice
At the time of admission due importance is given to enrol the students with expertise
and keen interest in the field of yoga. The institute encourages those students to participate in the
international and national level competitions. Due to this every year a team of students from our
college is representing Mysore University at the national inter university yoga competition.
Thirty days coaching camp in “Suryanamaskara and Yogasana” was conducted in our college
from 17-08-2015 to15-09-2015.
5. Evidence of Success Yoga is also turning into a profession and is providing employment to many of our students.
Five students of our college are working as international yoga coachers in China and Thailand. Many are expected to follow the same path in the coming years.
